SECTION 1-01 BRISTOL FIRE DEPARTMENT STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE Bump Test REVISION 1/31/18 Next Revision Date 1/31/19 Purpose To develop a procedure for conducting Bump Test on. Scope All s owned by Bristol Fire Department. Responsibility It is the responsibility of the fire fighter assigned to the on each incident to perform a Bump Test. Policy All s (MGD) will be run through a Fresh Air Setup (FAS) and a Bump Test prior to any incident they will be put into service. The Bump Test will be done in the passenger compartment of Utility 1 in route to the incident. On arrival at scene after Bump Test is complete, Firefighter will proceed a distance away from apparatus and perform a FAS. If a detector fails the Bump Test a Sensor Refresh + Span Calibration must be completed. If detector fails Span- Calibration Test it will be taken out of service. All s will be run through a Calibration Test monthly (See SOP 2-01). Procedure I Performing a Bump Test 1) Turn the power ON 2) MGD has will go through startup cycle 3) From the normal measure screen press the button to display BUMP TEST?. 4) Attach the calibration cap to the device. a) Insert tab on calibration cap into slot on instrument. b) Press calibration cap as shown until it seats onto instrument.
c) Press both side tabs down onto instrument until they snap in. d) Ensure that calibration cap is properly seated. 5) Press the ON/OFF button to start the bump test then open the valve on the regulator. The hourglass will flash and the sensors will respond to the gas.
NOTE: If the device fails the Bump Test, take it out of service and notify BFD MGD Technician! 6) Turn off gas and remove calibration cap. 7) Scroll to max values. 8) Select to reset Max. 9) Press ON/OFF button to reset. 10) Scroll to min values. 11) Select to reset min. 12) Press ON/OFF button to reset. 13) Scroll to go to Home Screen.

Procedure Performing a FAS 1) After you have run the Bump Test move MGD to fresh air away from apparatus. 2) Hold for 3 seconds, until screen shows ZERO CAL 3) Press. The unit will perform a FAS test. NOTE: If the device fails the Bump Test, take it out of service and notify BFD MGD Technician!
SECTION 2-01 BRISTOL FIRE DEPARTMENT STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE Monthly Calibration Test REVISION 1/31/18 Next Revision Date 1/31/19 Purpose To develop a schedule for calibrating s to insure they are in good working order. Scope All s owned by Bristol Fire Department. Responsibility It is the responsibility of the Captain assigned to inspections to complete calibration. Only individuals who have completed MSA s online training can perform monthly Multi Gas Detector calibrations. Policy All s will be run through a Calibration Test monthly. Procedure Calibration Test 1) Press the button for 3 seconds 2) Press the On/Off button to confirm the zero screen 3) Attach calibration cap 4) Connect tube from calibration gas to calibration cap, open valve 5) Press On/Off button to calibrate 6) After test is complete SPAN PASS should display 7) If instrument fails calibration it will be taken out of service
