The G-Braves are riding a six-game winning streak, the longest active streak in the International League. A victory tonight would extend the streak to seven games, which would be the club s longest since a seven-game streak from 5/23 to 5/29 of 2013. A win would also clinch Gwinnett s third consecutive series sweep (2-0 vs. NOR, 2-0 at CHA). G-Braves Roll to Sixth Straight Win: After falling behind 3-0 in the first inning, the G-Braves stormed back for an 8-4 win over the Charlotte Knights yesterday afternoon at Coolray Field. RHP Zach Stewart (W, 1-0) yielded three runs in the first, two coming on a home run by Andy Wilkins, but nothing more over 6.0 IP. Ernesto Mejia (2-for-3, HR, 3 RBI) put Gwinnett on the board with a two-run homer to center off Knights RHP Tommy Hanson (L, 0-1). In the fifth, Jose Constanza (2-for-4, 3B, 2 RBI) tied the score with an RBI triple scoring Tyler Greene, and Tommy La Stella (3-for-5, 2B, 2 RBI) doubled home Constanza for a 4-3 lead. A four-run sixth put the game away as Constanza, Todd Cunningham, La Stella and Mejia all added RBI. RHP Wirfin Obispo threw a scoreless seventh inning and LHP Ryan Buchter yielded a run on two hits over the final 2.0 IP to seal the win. Call it a Comeback: The G-Braves captured their largest come-from-behind win of the season yesterday, battling back from a 3-0 deficit entering the bottom of the fourth to win, 8-4. Gwinnett has won five times after trailing this season, including 4/9 at NOR (trailed 3-1, won 4-3), 4/14 vs. NOR (trailed 3-2, won 5-4), 4/16 at CHA (trailed 1-0, won 7-2) and 4/19 vs. CHA (trailed 2-0, won 9-6). It was his first win since 9/2/13, a start for the Knights vs. Gwinnett in the final game in Knights Stadium history. RHP Wirfin Obispo extended his scoreless streak to six games, 7.2 IP with 1.0 scoreless frame (0 H, 2 SO) yesterday. He ranks among IL relief leaders in holds (T-1 st, 3), BAA (3 rd,.080) and fewest baserunners per 9.0 IP (5 th, 5.87). RHP Juan Jaime is 3-for-3 in save chances and has yet to allow a run in six outings, 6.0 IP with Gwinnett. He ranks among IL relief leaders in games finished (2 nd, 6) and saves (T-3 rd, 3). LHP Atahualpa Severino has allowed just two runs over six games, 7.2 IP for a 2.35 ERA he ranks tied for second on the club with two holds. Among IL relief leaders, Severino is fourth in strikeouts per 9.0 IP ratio (14.09). Minor Update: LHP Mike Minor, on Atlanta s 15-day disabled list since 3/21 with left shoulder tendinitis, made his fourth injury rehab appearance, third start of 2014 on Saturday vs. Charlotte. In his second outing, first start with Gwinnett this year, he delivered the club s first quality start of the season (6.0 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 1 HR, 0 BB, 4 SO, 80 pitches, 52 strikes). On a rehab assignment that has included starts with Double-A Mississippi (4/3), Class-A Rome (4/13) and Gwinnett (4/19), Minor is a combined 2-1 with a 3.52 ERA (6 ER in 15.1 IP), a.181 BAA (10-for-55, 2 HR), four walks and 17 strikeouts. Quest for a Winning Month: The G-Braves have not posted a winning record in 11 straight months dating back to April 2012, when the club went an IL South Division-best 17-7. Snitker Era Begins: Former Atlanta Braves third base coach Brian Snitker is the new manager of the G-Braves in 2014. After spending the last seven seasons (2007-13) on the Major League staff, Snitker was named the third manager in Gwinnett history on 10/14/13 he follows Dave Brundage (2009-12) and Randy Ready (2013) at the post. This season marks his 38 th with the Braves organization dating back to 1977, as well as his 18 th campaign as a minor league manager. The pinnacle of his career came in 1999-00 with Advanced-A Myrtle Beach, when he led the Pelicans to consecutive Carolina League titles and was voted CL Manager of the Year twice.
