The Starlight Golf Classic & Auction is a great event that raises funds for the Starlight Children s Foundation of Washington, an organization dedicated to helping seriously ill children and their families cope with their pain, fear and isolation through entertainment, education and family activities. With your help, Starlight can continue this amazing and inspiring mission.
Helping seriously ill children and their families cope with their pain, fear and isolation through entertainment, education and family activities. Starlight s Core Programs These programs restore some of the smiles, laughter, and companionship that are taken away by the rigors of treatment. Great Escapes special outings for sick children and their families. Fun Centers a mobile entertainment unit containing a flat-screen television, DVD player, and Nintendo Wii system. PC Pals laptops loaded with entertaining and educational software, and Internet access. Starlight Sites a custom-designed room in a hospital that is an oasis of fun and entertainment where medical treatments are not allowed. Hospital Happenings cheerful parities held in the hospital that often include visits from musicians, clowns, and entertainers. Starbright World a private Internet-based online community that offers peer support through video conferencing, email, bulletin boards and community activities. Videos, CD-ROMs, Comic books computer based interactive and online programs designed to help children better understand and cope with their medical conditions. Washington Chapter Program Reach in 2007-2008 526 in-patient and community events held statewide serving 20,436 children and family members. 176 Fun Centers and 50 PC Pals placed in Washington State providing over 6,000 patient uses per month. 4 Starlight Sites opened: Sacred Heart Children s Hospital (Spokane), Seattle Children s Hospital, Harborview Medical Center (Seattle), Mary Bridge Children s Hospital (Tacoma). Over 500 volunteers help deliver programs, raise funds, and provide office support. Starbucks Joy Drive resulted in 103,000 toys and books donated to Starlight Children s Foundation of Washington in 2006, valued at over $2.2 million. Program services increase by 30% prior Fiscal Year. Starlight awarded a Four-Star rating by Charity Navigator, America s premier independent charity evaluator.
