Zombie Apocalypse Survival {Environmental Unit Final

Background A great plague has swept across the land! A disease created by the US Department of Defense which was meant to be used as a biological weapon has breached Haz-Mat Security and has run amok in the general population. It seems to be a combination of the rabies and Influenza virus with an incubation of less than 12 hours. The infected get feverish and delirious, and begin to vomit and soon they get a lust for the blood of the living. The Infestation has destroyed virtually all of human civilization save for a small group of survivors. You and your partner are among them.

11 Ways to survive a zombie 1. Sacrifice the Weak 2. Trick the Zombies apocalypse 3. Fight the Zombies 4. Join the Zombies 5. Raise Genetically Modified Attack Dogs which can attack and kill Zombies 6. Kung Fu 7. Reason with them 8. Romance the Zombies 9. a) run really fast AND: b)don't fall down when you run really fast 10)leave the planet 11)Cannibalism

Your Task Your mission is to produce a poster detailing your survival plans including your base layout and the various survival strategies for your colony. You need to keep a journal describing your experience based on the event of the day and to justify the choice you make. In addition, to the journal entry, you need to design, build, maintain, and run your new colony. Your group will be expected to present your poster to the class on the last day of school.

Your Task By the due date you will be expected to have produced: A poster A journal entries detailing your survival Colony blueprints A presentation of your poster to the class

Poster & Survival Plans The poster will include: The blueprints of your colony Journal Entries Source of energy (drawing) Source of water (drawing) Source of food (drawing) Infrastructure (drawing)

Journal Every day, you and your partner need to add a journal entry. You and your partner need to title the entry with week and population. There will also be an event on the front board. You and your partner need to add the event to your journal and describe how you are going to solve the problem.

Week 1 Population: 50 people/15 families Problem: Plan a colony for 50 people/15 families, with room to grow. What is the Name of your colony? Build your wall, decide what materials you will use and where you will get these. How thick? How tall? How will you build it? Draw this area on your colony blueprint.

Week 2 Population: 45 people/ 14 families Problem: 3 Zombies found a hole in the wall and killed an entire family of 5 that was sleeping under a tree near the wall. You killed the zombies, but your people are scared. In order to keep them safe they need homes to live in. Plan out your homes. Where are you building them? Where and how are you getting the materials? How big are the homes? How are you building them? Draw this area on your colony blueprint.

Week 3 Population: 75 people/ 18 families Problem: A herd of people are screaming at your walls. Your colonists decide to let all 30 in. Unfortunately one of them is an escaped convict and before you catch him, he killed 20 people/5 families. After a day the dead bodies begin to stink and the colonists do not want to burn them for fear of attracting more zombies. Decide where to put your graveyard so their decaying bodies do not contaminate your water and food supply. Draw this area on your colony blueprint. Now that you have more people, your scavengers are not able to find enough food. You need to build/create a sustainable food source. What are you building? How are you building it? Where are you getting the supplies to build it? Draw this area on your colony blueprint.

Week 4 Population: 55 people/ 13 families Problem: Winter is coming. Your people are worried and are complaining that their homes are too cold. The are also worried because the days are shorter, and they cannot see anything at night anymore. You need to provide them with electricity. What energy source are you going to use to generate electricity? How are people going to stay warm? How will you build it? Where will you get your materials, because you have already stripped the nearby deserted city of all building materials for the wall. Draw this area on your colony blueprint.

Week 5 Population:? people/? families Problem: A nearby colony discovered that your colony is more stable and has more supplies, so they drove a semi-truck into the wall and put a huge hole in the wall. They stole all your food and killed 15 people/4 families. How did you fight off the invaders? While fixing the wall a herd of zombies found your colony. How are you going to fix the wall and defend off the zombies? 5 more people/1 family died in the zombie attack. You no longer have enough people to run your society. How will you recruit GOOD people? How many will you recruit? What is your population now? *Make a drawing of your powersource and water source to add to your poster. *Make a drawing of your wall to add to your poster.
