SCHS GIRLS TENNIS 2017 On behalf of San Clemente High School and the coaching staff, we welcome you to the 2017 tennis program. We look forward to getting to know and working with your daughter and are committed to running a highly respected program to which we can all be proud. Up front, we want to make sure you are aware that: ***Please note that the Constitution of the State of California requires that we provide a public education to you free of charge. Your right to a free education is for all school/educational activities, whether curricular or extracurricular, and whether you get a grade for the activity or class. Subject to certain exceptions, your right to a free public education means that we cannot require you or your family to purchase materials, supplies, equipment or uniforms for any school activity, nor can we require you or your family to pay security deposits for access, participation, materials, or equipment. *** Once again, with budget cuts and in order to try to meet the goals of our program, which includes professional instruction, court and fence maintenance, team meals, equipment, balls, sweat shirts and t-shirts, tournament fees, Booster club fees and reduced banquet costs we need your help. The district pays only one stipend of the 6-7; all other coaches stipends must be raised. Unfortunately, this continues to mean if we can t raise the money, we can t run the JV or Frosh/ Soph teams. If you also have ideas for fundraising we would love to hear your ideas! DONATION REQUESTS: Frosh / Soph $295 Junior Varsity $320 Varsity $350 Silver Participation $400 Gold Participation $500 Checks can be made out to SCHS Girls Tennis (SCHS Sweatshirt to all Gold Members) Parent volunteer drivers are needed!!! Parent drivers alleviate both the expense and inconvenience of buses. The cost to now bus teams to matches has skyrocketed! It is almost impossible to play away matches with the charges that teams are being forced to pay. As well, students miss less class time and return home in a timely manner if a parent can drive students to away games. CUSD requires a standard driver form be filled out by volunteer drivers. We have these forms available. Snack Schedule: Traditionally, parents provide snacks for the team each match. A snack schedule assignment will be made up for the team and attached to the schedule.

GIRLS TENNIS San Clemente High Varsity Coach: Coach Stephens, Coach Valko, Coach Hall Junior Varsity Coach: Coach Vleisides, Coach Greenberg, Jacob Greenberg Frosh/Soph Coach: Coach Jacob Greenberg and Coach Ho I. Any player found to have broken this rule will be suspended and/or removed from the team. XI. Parent s role should be to support your child and the team in any positive way. We need authorization from all parents to be able to do this If ok, please sign and return this form to one of the coaches. Thanks, The Coaching Staff My child has my permission to drive to all away tennis matches with the coaches and the designated parent/guardian drivers. Players Name Parent Signature

SNACK IDEAS 1. Numbering and lettering the water and Gatorade bottles as well as ensuring that there is at least 2 bottles of water for each player, coach etc. and 1 bottle of Gatorade. 2. Making sure that there are no communal bags, everything should be individually packaged to prevent the spread of illness to the entire team. 3. No salty foods as this can dehydrate the players. 4. No heavy sweets or candy 5. Suggested items: a. protein like string cheese or other cheese, peanut butter, hummus. b. fruit such as grapes, bananas, apple slices with caramel, strawberries, melons, raisins etc. c. Carbohydrates such as low salt crackers, pita chip, pretzels, chex mix etc. d. trail mix, prepackaged cheese and peanut butter cracker packages, fruit gummies, small sandwiches etc. ***CUT UP HONEYDEW IS THE BEST IN MY OPINION FOR THE PLAYERS*** There are many other popular items as well. This is just a guideline. A few small sweets like cookies are also ok as long as the kids do not get the sugar rush and then the following crash!
