start of the next event unless the leader is not continuing in the competition. Omnium winners from each category will receive an overall omnium champion s jersey on Sunday. The 4-5 category will be combined on Sunday and one overall Champion jersey awarded. Medals will be awarded at the Awards Ceremony to the top three in each category on each day. Please note that the leader s jersey is for the omnium leader, not necessarily the winner of that day s race. Please check the results postings for the omnium standings. Prize Payout: Prize money will be paid in the race registration area (room #8) of MPEC after Saturday s & Sunday s results are official. Medals will be awarded at the Awards Ceremony. Overall prize money will be paid after Sunday s results and Omnium results are final. Prize money that is not picked up during the race weekend will be forfeited. Prize money will not be mailed. You must have your race number or license to pick up prize money. Monetary prizes are all paid in cash. A detailed schedule is included on pages 9 and 10. Hot Spot Primes prizes will also be in MPEC room #8. There is no payout Friday night. Omnium Competition: For all categories, this is an omnium series race based on points awarded by placing in the events. Points are also awarded for the hot spot sprints in the Men s Pro/Cat 1-2 and Women s Open. The overall omnium placing is based on the highest overall accumulation of points. Points for all events and categories (criteriums and road races) will be scored 20 places deep for both races. See the omnium schedule for full details. In the Men s Pro/Cat 1-2 and Women s Open categories, additional points can be earned in hot spot sprints. The top three places in each hot spot sprint will receive 3, 2, and 1 point. Hot spot sprint points (for Men s Pro/Cat 1-2 and Women s Open) will be awarded in the road race (see race maps for details) and once in each criterium at approximately half-way through the race. Ties in the number of points will be decided by order of finish in the Sunday. (See Champion Jerseys, Hot Spots, and Prize Payout headings for more omnium details.) Junior Rollout: Juniors must meet junior gear restrictions (see www.usacycling.org or a current rule book for more information). All Junior races will have rollout 20 minutes before each race, regardless of the category. Riders that have a rolling enclosure are entitled to use the full road when they are within the enclosure, but caution should always be exercised. The centerline rule will be in effect for the entirety of the 40k races. The protest period for hot spot sprints ends when the race results are finalized 15 minutes after preliminary posting. There is no feed zone for the 40 kilometer route. Neutral feeding from volunteers of water only will be available in the designated feed zones. Neutral water is not being handled by professionals; they are volunteers with minimal training. Please exercise caution. Teams or individuals are encouraged to send their own feeders to care for their riders hydration & nutritional needs in the designated feed zones. When traveling from one feed zone to another, please follow the directions provided at packet pick-up. Please see the maps for more details. There will be no caravan. Following Races / Caravan: There will be no caravan. Private vehicles may not follow any of the road races. Failure to comply will result in disqualification of the team and possible fines to the driver. Race Starts: See the staging map at the back of this manual for the exact location of your race start. Please make sure that you arrive in plenty of time for your race as approximately 15,000 tour riders are also expected. Traffic trouble is not a suitable excuse for missing your start or failing to sign your waiver. If a field overtakes the other, the slower field will be neutralized. Fields may not mix. Travel between finish line and parking: The finish line is approximately 3 miles from the primary parking areas. Please consult the map on page 16. Payout: Payout will be held in MPEC Room #8 following the race. Please bring your bib number in order to claim your prize. It is suggested that teams who claim multiple payout-placings send one representative with each winner s bib number to collect all prizes awarded to that team. Finishing Straight: Please note that the final turns all racers turn southwest onto highway 79, and at Petrolia ride, where riders will keep straight where highway 79 (Waurika Freeway) veers left approximately 1 mile from the finish and the racers. There is overlap between the 100-mile rally route and the race from FM 2393 in Dean until Harding Street, which is 2.1 miles from the finish. There is a rest area for the rally ride. Do not turn right here or you will be off course (see photo). Continue southwest all the way to the finish. 2016 Hotter'N Hell Hundred Competition Manual Page 7
