General Information TXBRA State Cup Status: Each of the three omnium events is a TXBRA State Cup level event. Race Numbers: KEEP YOUR NUMBERS FOR THE ENTIRE WEEKEND! For each event, competitors must wear both numbers. Numbers on each side should be pinned in the vertical, American-style each day. Results: Results are provided by One2Go Events services. Live results will appear at www.livelynxresults.com. For all races, final results will be posted on the MPEC windows. Preliminary results will be posted near the officials stage. The omnium leaders will also be posted in the same areas. All protests of individual race results must occur within 15 minutes of preliminary posting. They are handled by the finish officials and results crew from One2Go. One2Go will endeavor to email the preliminary results to anyone who has registered using their email address; however, do not depend on this method.. The top 3 race finishers from each category and the omnium leader must be present at the Awards Ceremony (please see Awards Ceremony heading for more details). Only racers who start all three (or two, where applicable) events are eligible for the omnium. Online Registration: Registration is available at http://www.bikereg.com/hhh until 10:59 p.m. CDT on Wednesday, August 24th. Early registration entails a $5 discount. Early registration ends at midnight on August 21st. On-site Registration: Registration will be open Friday, August 26th at 11:00 in the Multi-Purpose Events Center Exhibit Hall (MPEC), room #8, located at 1000 Fifth Street, Wichita Falls, TX 76301. Each of the events registrations will close 30 minutes prior to each race start. Friday & Sunday registrations will have a $5 late fee. Participants CAN register for multiple events or race multiple events in the Sunday s; however, riders are only eligible for the omnium in the category in which they raced the road race on Saturday. A second race registration is $20. On Sunday, August 26th, the on-site registration for the Sunday will open at 6:00 AM and will close 30 minutes prior to each race start and is also located in the MPEC Exhibit Hall, room #8. There is no registration for any events on Saturday; pre-registered packet pick-up only will be held on Saturday, from 5:30 AM 6:30 AM at Farris Early Childhood Center, 710 Burkburnett Road, Wichita Falls, TX 76306. If you are not in line to sign your waiver & pick up your number by then, you will not race. Packet Pick-Up: Pre-registered riders must pick up their race packets at the MPEC located at 1000 Fifth Street, Wichita Falls, TX 76301 during the on-site registration hours (see On-Site Registration heading for more details) or on Saturday morning at Farris Early Childhood Center. Only pre-registered racers will receive a free Hotter N Hell Hundred T-shirt. There is no registration on the day of the road race; Pre-registered packet pick-up only will be held on Saturday from 5:30 AM 6:30 AM at Farris Early Childhood Center, 710 Burkburnett Road, Wichita Falls, TX 76306. Awards Ceremony: The top three finishers in each category on each day must attend the awards ceremony for their category wearing their team/race jersey. Additionally, the leader in each Omnium competition is required to attend each day (if different from the top three). Awards presentations for each of the criteriums and for the final omnium will occur at the finish line as soon as possible on or across from the announcer s stage. Interviews will be immediately after each race. Road race ceremonies will be conducted at the RIDE FINISH LINE (same location as the Friday Start/Finish) at 2:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon. (See Leader / Champion Jerseys section and Omnium Competition section.) Leader / Champion Jerseys: A leader s jersey will be awarded at the awards ceremony to the leader of both the men s and women s omnium after the Friday. On Saturday, a leader s jersey will be awarded to the points leader for each of the 14 omnium competitions by category, and both the 4-5 A and 4-5 B leaders will be presented a leader s jersey after the road race. Race leaders must wear the leader s jersey at the 2016 Hotter'N Hell Hundred Competition Manual Page 3

start of the next event unless the leader is not continuing in the competition. Omnium winners from each category will receive an overall omnium champion s jersey on Sunday. The 4-5 category will be combined on Sunday and one overall Champion jersey awarded. Medals will be awarded at the Awards Ceremony to the top three in each category on each day. Please note that the leader s jersey is for the omnium leader, not necessarily the winner of that day s race. Please check the results postings for the omnium standings. Prize Payout: Prize money will be paid in the race registration area (room #8) of MPEC after Saturday s & Sunday s results are official. Medals will be awarded at the Awards Ceremony. Overall prize money will be paid after Sunday s results and Omnium results are final. Prize money that is not picked up during the race weekend will be forfeited. Prize money will not be mailed. You must have your race number or license to pick up prize money. Monetary prizes are all paid in cash. A detailed schedule is included on pages 9 and 10. Hot Spot Primes prizes will also be in MPEC room #8. There is no payout Friday night. Omnium Competition: For all categories, this is an omnium series race based on points awarded by placing in the events. Points are also awarded for the hot spot sprints in the Men s Pro/Cat 1-2 and Women s Open. The overall omnium placing is based on the highest overall accumulation of points. Points for all events and categories (criteriums and road races) will be scored 20 places deep for both races. See the omnium schedule for full details. In the Men s Pro/Cat 1-2 and Women s Open categories, additional points can be earned in hot spot sprints. The top three places in each hot spot sprint will receive 3, 2, and 1 point. Hot spot sprint points (for Men s Pro/Cat 1-2 and Women s Open) will be awarded in the road race (see race maps for details) and once in each criterium at approximately half-way through the race. Ties in the number of points will be decided by order of finish in the Sunday. (See Champion Jerseys, Hot Spots, and Prize Payout headings for more omnium details.) Junior Rollout: Juniors must meet junior gear restrictions (see www.usacycling.org or a current rule book for more information). All Junior races will have rollout 20 minutes before each race, regardless of the category. Consumer Show: The consumer show is open from 3:00 PM 8:00 PM on Thursday, 1:00 PM 10:00 PM on Friday, and from 9:00 AM 4:00 PM on Saturday. Many of our prime prizes come from these vendors, so please support them. Spaghetti Dinner / Pancake Breakfast / Entertainment / Massages: Friday there will be a spaghetti dinner in the Yaeger Coliseum for $8.00 per person. Saturday there is a pancake breakfast for $7.00. Sports massages in the MPEC will be open from 4:00 PM 10:00 PM on Friday and 9:00 AM until about 4:00 PM on Saturday. See additional information on preparing for the heat at www.hh100.org. Competition Manual / Rules: The printed version of the competition manual distributed at registration is the final version. The version placed online prior to the race is subject to change. Communiqués may be issued by the Chief Referee to amend the competition manual. All USA Cycling rules apply, especially 1N4: It is the rider s responsibility to familiarize themselves with the rules of the event and the race course before the start of the race. Riders may not take any other route or short cut. 2016 Hotter'N Hell Hundred Competition Manual Page 4

Road Race Wheel Support: SRAM will provide neutral wheel support for the Men s Pro/Cat. 1-2 race. All other races will be wheels in / wheels out (unless there are over 20 sets of wheels supplied), supported by volunteers. The rider is responsible for conducting the wheel change and other mechanical support. Cars will not pace riders back to the field. Bring wheels to the support vehicle at the staging area no later than 6:25 AM. If 20+ sets of wheels are supplied, wheel support will be neutral. Wheels must be picked up from the designated area, at the corner of Travis and 6 th Street, near the ride finish line (map on page 20) within 30 minutes of the race finish (see map for location). Upon closing, wheels will be moved to the registration room in MPEC. Neither the race, event, its directors, nor any of its personnel are responsible for the riders wheels. Rolling Enclosure / Centerline Rule: Each of the 164 km and 100 kilometer races will take place within a rolling enclosure. Riders that have a rolling enclosure are entitled to use the full road when they are within the enclosure, but caution should always be exercised. Two exceptions: On highways 82 & 79, the centerline rule is in effect for all races. Once the rider is passed by the Comm 1 vehicle, the centerline rule and all other 2016 Hotter'N Hell Hundred Competition Manual Page 6

traffic laws apply. Riders must use common sense and exercise caution at all times, even when they are within the rolling enclosure. The centerline rule will be in effect for the entirety of the 40k races. First Bank Hot Spots: Omnium points of 5, 3, 2, and 1 will be awarded at each Hot Spot to the first four riders in the Men Pro/Cat. 1-2 and the Women Open races. The winner of each Hot Spot will also receive $100 thanks to First Bank. For men, there will be sprints at approximately 37 (60km), 60 (97km), and 82 (132km) miles. For women, the sprints will be at approximately 19 (29 km) and 39miles (61 km). For exact locations please see the race route maps. The protest period for hot spot sprints ends when the race results are finalized 15 minutes after preliminary posting. Feed Zones: Three (3) feed zones have been designated for the 164km route, and two (2) feed zones have been designated for the 100 kilometer route; the 2 nd feed zone on the 100 kilometer route is the 3 rd feed zone on the 164km route. There is no feed zone for the 40 kilometer route. Neutral feeding from volunteers of water only will be available in the designated feed zones. Neutral water is not being handled by professionals; they are volunteers with minimal training. Please exercise caution. Teams or individuals are encouraged to send their own feeders to care for their riders hydration & nutritional needs in the designated feed zones. When traveling from one feed zone to another, please follow the directions provided at packet pick-up. Please see the maps for more details. There will be no caravan. Following Races / Caravan: There will be no caravan. Private vehicles may not follow any of the road races. Failure to comply will result in disqualification of the team and possible fines to the driver. Race Starts: See the staging map at the back of this manual for the exact location of your race start. Please make sure that you arrive in plenty of time for your race as approximately 15,000 tour riders are also expected. Traffic trouble is not a suitable excuse for missing your start or failing to sign your waiver. If a field overtakes the other, the slower field will be neutralized. Fields may not mix. Travel between finish line and parking: The finish line is approximately 3 miles from the primary parking areas. Please consult the map on page 16. Payout: Payout will be held in MPEC Room #8 following the race. Please bring your bib number in order to claim your prize. It is suggested that teams who claim multiple payout-placings send one representative with each winner s bib number to collect all prizes awarded to that team. Finishing Straight: Please note that the final turns all racers turn southwest onto highway 79, and at Petrolia ride, where riders will keep straight where highway 79 (Waurika Freeway) veers left approximately 1 mile from the finish and the racers. There is overlap between the 100-mile rally route and the race from FM 2393 in Dean until Harding Street, which is 2.1 miles from the finish. There is a rest area for the rally ride. Do not turn right here or you will be off course (see photo). Continue southwest all the way to the finish. 2016 Hotter'N Hell Hundred Competition Manual Page 7
