Fact Sheet for Parents/ Guardian of the Swimmers Before the swim meet, parents are to find out the name of the teacher-in-charge (I/C) for the event your child is participating in. On the day of the event, what time should my child get ready and report for the event at the Call Room? Refer to the Session Start list with the estimated event schedule. All competitors are to be ready at least half an hour before their scheduled events. They are to report to the Clerks of Course in the Competitors Reporting Area (Call Room) IMMEDIATELY when called upon to do so by means of Event Display Boards or announcement. Latecomers will not be permitted to swim the event when the competitors for the event have been dispatched to the starting point. PS: Participants should find out from the teacher I/C the time to report at OCBC Aquatic Centre (AQC) for attendance taking and reporting for events. 2. What is the purpose of having the accreditation (security) pass and which are the access areas for teacher I/Cs, coaches, swimmers and parents? All teacher I/Cs, coaches, swimmers, P1-P2 parents and officials will require passes to gain access to certain areas. Security guards/ushers will be checking on their accreditation before letting them through. Teacher I/Cs are to manage and distribute the passes to their swimmers and P1-2 parents. Only 1 parent pass will be given to each P1-P2 swimmer. Passes are not transferable, and will require filling in of name, school and contact number (at the back of the pass). The organiser reserves the right to confiscate passes that do not belong to the rightful owners. All pass holders are to look after their passes. No replacement passes will be issued. Teacher I/Cs must be present at all times when their students are competing. Registered Coaches will sign out for their passes at the information booth. Teacher I/Cs: Training Pool, Swimmers Lounge Area, Spectator Stand & *Competition Pool Coaches: Training Pool, Swimmers Lounge Area & Spectator Stand & *Competition Pool P1-2 Parents: Swimmers Lounge and Spectator Stand *Access Timing for Teacher I/Cs & Coaches at Competition Pool for Warm up: 7.30am to 8.45am & 12.30pm to 1.45pm Access for Parents: Parents will have access to the Spectator Stand (East Stand) but not to the Competitors Reporting Area, Swimmers Lounge Area, Courtyard, Training Pool and Competition Pool. Only P1-P2 Parents will have access to the Swimmers Lounge and Courtyard (with accreditation passes) to assist the younger swimmers. 3. Are there any changes in the competition format and events this year? 1) All 10 lanes will be used for Heats and Finals. However points will be awarded to the top 8 positions only. 2) Introduction of new event: 200m Freestyle for both genders, Division B. 3) Six 100m combination events for all divisions and both genders will remain as demonstration events in 2018: 50m Fly/50m Back 50m Fly/50m Breast 50m Back/50m Breast 50m Fly/50m Free 50m Back/50m Free 50m Breast/50m Free - There will be no limit on number of demo events to sign-up for by participants. It will be over and above the 2 individual and 2 relay events each swimmer is allowed to participate in. - The events will follow individual medley turn rules and are timed finals. No points will be awarded but top 4 finishers will receive medals. 4. Where can I check the Swim Results/Start lists? You can view the hardcopy posted on the wall beside the Information Booth. For your mobile convenience, you can view the Results after each event on your iphone/ipad (Meet Mobile apps from Apple Store) or Android Smartphone (Meet Mobile from Google Play Store). Start lists and Results can be also be downloaded from http://www.spssc.sg/ Note: No programme booklet will be distributed on the day of the Finals. 5. What do I do during an emergency evacuation? Announcement will be made if the event is cancelled or postponed. Pupils are required to report to their teachers-in-charge who will conduct a roll call. In a fire evacuation, you are to note the announcement made and assemble at the designated assembly area. 2

Only teacher I/Cs can approach the meet officials to seek clarification and lodge a protest. Do note that a fee of $150 will be imposed if the decision is upheld. 7. How do I withdraw my child from an event? Eg. If my child is unwell or Eg. For some valid reasons, my child cannot participate. 8. Where and when can my child do their warm up and what are some safety considerations to take note of? Withdrawals will only be allowed for valid reasons, and only if it is accompanied by endorsement from the Teacher I/C. This should be followed by a written explanation duly endorsed by the Principal to the National Convenor and Game Advisor within two working days. If the competitor is ill, a Medical Certificate needs to be submitted to the teacher I/C before the next event. Any competitor who withdraws without a valid reason will not be allowed to participate in subsequent events including relay races. All teacher I/Cs are to supervise their swimmers and ensure their safety and maintain discipline throughout the competition. Refer to: Instructions on Warm Ups at i) Competition Pool ii) Warm Up Pool (Training Pool Area) Warming up in the Competition Pool may commence 1½ hours before the start of the session (0730hrs 0845hrs, 1230hrs 1345hr) and end 15 minutes before the start of the session. For the training pool area, the warm up lanes will be available from 0730hrs to 1700hrs. For hygiene reasons, remind your child to shower before entering the pool. 9. Is there an area allotted for my child - to rest while waiting for their event? Swimmers may use the Swimmers Lounge or the Spectator Stand to rest whilst waiting for their event. Swimmers and supporters are advised not to obstruct human traffic flow and emergency exit routes by crowding along the common walkways and doorways. Please note that foldable chairs & beds are not allowed. NOTE: Please ensure the cleanliness of AQC before vacating the area you have occupied. 10. Can we bring our own food and drinks to the Spectator Stand? 11. Is there a guideline to follow for the swimwear? No food and drinks is allowed at the Spectator Stand. Refreshments can be purchased from the concession stands outside. However, the competitors are allowed to bring food and drinks in on the 1 st level (Courtyard & Swimmers Lounge Area) and consume there. They are not allowed to bring food or drinks up to the Spectator Stand on 2 nd level. The Championships will be conducted in accordance to FINA s By Laws on Swimwear: 3
BL 8.2: In swimming competitions, the competitor must wear only one swimsuit in one or two pieces. No additional items, like arm bands or leg bands shall be regarded as part of a swimsuit. BL 8.3: Since January 1, 2010 swimwear for men shall not extend above the navel nor below the knee, and for women, shall not cover the neck, extend past the shoulder, nor extend below the knee. Does my child need to stay till the end of award presentation ceremony? 13. Where can I park my vehicle during the period of competition? On the day of the finals, in the spirit of sportsmanship, swimmers and supporters are strongly encouraged to stay on till the end of the award presentation ceremony. You are strongly encouraged to take public transport or carpool as there is limited parking. What are the functions of the Information? 15. With the increasing haze level, will the Championship continue? The Information Booth is setup for providing General Information. The Organizer will be monitoring the haze level and will make an announcement at the pool to activate the haze evacuation if needed. Inform the school s teacher I/C before leaving the premise. 4
Instructions on Warm-Ups NATIONAL PRIMARY SCHOOLS Warming up in the Competition Pool may commence from 7.30am to 8.45 am and 12.30pm to 1.45pm. The warm up procedures in the Competition Pool are as follows: i) Competition Pool a. There shall be NO DIVING in the Circle Swimming Lanes, the Turn Practice Lanes, and the 50m Pace Lane (opposite side). Entry to these lanes is via feet first entry from the sitting position at all times. c. The use of swim paddles is prohibited during warm up. d. The Dive Sprint Lanes are one-way only swimmers should clear the lanes immediately and walk back. Swimmers are advised to exercise caution when doing Backstroke. e. Coaches, Teacher I/Cs and Team Officials will be allowed on the Competition Pool Deck during the warm up sessions. f. No one is allowed on the pool deck from the start of the competition until the end except Technical Officials on duty. g. Any sideline coaching or pacing may lead to the disqualification of the particular competitor(s). According to FINA Rule 10.16 No pace making shall be permitted, nor may any device be used or plan adopted which has that effect. ii) Training Pool The use of the Training Pool may commence from 7.30am to 5.00 pm. 5
