REBELS AUTO CLUB NEWSLETTER MAY 2017 Greetings Rebels President s Message I think the weather is starting to show signs of becoming spring, I think it s safe to say that lets get the cars out and hit some show and shines. Gary has a lot of great ones planned and it would be great to see everyone there. There have been some changes to the web site and there will be more changes coming in the future so check it out. I know that I have brought this up before but I will be on this soap box for awhile. We need everyone s help with events this year. I hope that everyone knows that without your help at these events our yearly giving will be greatly affected. We have our own car show, the cone races that bring in a lot of money and with everyone s help we can make this happen. Membership, again this takes everyone to go out and talk about the club to other car enthusiast and get them on board. We all go to car shows in the area so there are a lot of car owners out there to bring in to our fold. Consider bringing a prospective member to a meeting so they can get to know us and to see what we are about. As always DRIVE SAFE AND KEEP THE SHINEY SIDE UP AND THE DIRTY SIDE DOWN. Well it is now that time of the year and things are going to be getting real busy with all of the car events that a person can attend. On Saturday May 6 th is the 16 th Annual Alvo Volunteer Fire Department Car Show with registration from 9:00 AM to Noon. Also on Saturday May 6 th is the Norris High School Auto Show located at 25211 South 68 th Street. There is the Berean Car Show on Saturday May 13 th at the Lincoln Berean Church parking lot on 70 th and Highway 2. Registration is from 8:30 11:00 AM. For $10.00 there is also a Car Corral for those that have a vehicle to sell. For more information contact me at 402-489-8853. There is a show & shine at a nursing home is on Monday May 15 th at the Lancaster Rehabilitation Center located at 1001 South Street from 1:00-4:00 PM. On Saturday May 20 th there is the Catholic Social Services Car Show & Shine at 23 rd and O Streets from 9:00 AM- 3:00 PM. There is no fee for participants or spectators except for a free will offering. Also on Saturday May 20 th is the Lincoln Area Street Rods Swap Meet at the Speedway Motors Campus located at 340 Victory Lane starting at 6:00 AM. On Sunday May 21 st there is the Sowers Club Car Show at Gateway Mall 61 st and O Streets west of Younkers with registration from 8:00-11:00 AM. At this show all hoods, trunks and doors are closed for judging. Also on Sunday 21st which happens to be the third Sunday in May is the Don and Millie s Show and Shine located at 82nd and O Streets starting at 5:00 PM. A person can attend both of the events that day and I know Don and Millie s would enjoy seeing several cars show up. So why not go there and eat your evening meal after the Sowers Car Show. I passed out a signup sheet at the last meeting for working gate admissions at NRSCCA Tire rack Nationals for Thursday May 25 th through Monday May 29 th. Most of the sheet got signed except for one time slot on Sunday May 28 th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Also I am looking for volunteers to work out on the track on Saturday May 27 th. These guys that are racing that day rarely hit a cone so you won t be chasing many cones. If anybody wants to volunteer for any of these spots please call me at 402-489-8853 and if no answer leave a message. Events like this is where are club makes the money so we can keep contributing. If we can t fill the spots we will have to get the help of other clubs and split what we would have made. I know it is a ways off but I have scheduled three nursing homes in June. The first one at the new Country House Residence at 240 South 70 th which was scheduled for Saturday June 17 th has been changed to Saturday June 10 th from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. This has been changed because of the Goodguys Day in the Hay. The next nursing home is at Bickford Cottage at 4451 Old Cheney Rd on Wednesday June 14 th from1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Another one in June is at Tabitha Health Care located at 4720 Randolph on Friday June 16 th from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM. On Saturday June 3rd is the Sterling Picnic Car Show in in Sterling NE with registration from 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM. On Sunday June 4th is the Dare to Share Car Show in Waverly NE at the Waverly High School parking lot with registration from 9:00 AM to 11::00 AM. On Saturday June 10th is the 3rd annual Palmyra Playground Project Car Show at the Palmyra High School. The car council book says the show is from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM so I am sure the registration is before that. On Sunday June 18th is the 14th Annual St. Marks s Show and Shine at 8550 Pioneers Blvd with registration at 8:00 AM. I don t have any information at this time but I am sure that St Luke s Church located at 14th and Superior is also having their Father s Day Show and Shine. Don t forget our car show at Pioneers Park on Sunday 25th. I am sure more volunteers are needed to help out, so contact Craig Foster or come to the next meeting and signup. Start thinking about volunteering to help out at the Formula SAE event out at Airpark. This event which is with the cars that the college kids build is being held Wednesday June 21 st through Saturday June 24 th. In the past I have been able to turn in the names of those volunteering but this year each person needs to sign in online. The site to sign in on is fsaeonline.com.
