Official Start Time The official event start time is 8am Saturday 22 nd October 2016. This is the start time for the period of jurisdiction for all Equestrian Sport New Zealand (ESNZ) General Regulations, Veterinary Regulations and ESNZ Dressage/para Equestrian rules. Please note Dressage NZ/Para equestrian rules do not allow the use of prohibited gear from time of arrival on the grounds. Event Schedule and Conditions Competition Draw Draw will be available by email and web site www.equestrianentries.co.nz If required, a revised draw and/or start times for the following day s competition will be available 6.30 pm each evening on the results board in the event marquee. The OC reserves the right to alter the program to ensure the smooth running of the event. It is the rider s responsibility to check any new times posted.

2 Event Conditions All competitions will be run under ESNZ General Rules, Vet Rules & ESNZ Rules for ESNZ Dressage/Para Equestrian. The OC reserves the right to alter the programme/schedule and/or prize money within the ESNZ GR s/esnz Dressage rules. ESNZ identification numbers must be worn at all times, including warm-up. All horses/ponies staying on grounds must have an ID tag at all times with rider details and contact number. Stallions must comply with ESNZ Article 147 and must be housed in a stable at all times. Protests must be lodged with the secretary in writing within 30 minutes of the official announcement of the results with a payment of the $50 protest fee. Competition Arena Use & Familarisation All competition arenas are closed at all times except as stated below 3.00pm 5.00pm Friday 21 October 2016 7.00am - 7.30am Saturday 22 October 2016 7.00am 7.30am Sunday 23 October 2016 Horses may be hand walked or ridden at walking pace only around the exterior of the arenas during these times. Designated warm up arena is open during hours of daylight and is ONLY for the use of horses/ponies entered in this competition. Venue Rules Competitors and spectators attending this event do so at their own risk No smoking in any buildings or in yard/stable areas Neither the National Equestrian Centre, ESNZ, Dressage NZ, ESNZ Para Equestrian or nor any representative of these bodies, accepts any liability for any loss, damage, injury or illness to horse, pony, rider, spectators, land, vehicles or any personal property whether caused by their negligence or breach of contract in any way. The National Equestrian Centre, ESNZ, Dressage BOP or ESNZ Para Equestrian shall not be liable for the safety of any goods/equipment or the loss of, or damage to such goods and equipment, brought in/stored at the venue, during the period of use. Any damage to the National Equestrian Centre facilities to be reported immediately to the Event Office. Safety hats must be worn at all times when competing and schooling at the National Equestrian Centre. No top hats may be worn in any competition. All horses and ponies must be entered at the event unless prior arrangement has been made with the Organising Committee.

3 Dogs Dogs must be kept in the truck park, and be on a lead at all times No dogs are allowed in any stable or yarding areas, warm up, competition areas or buildings Dogs may be exercised on the cross country course only Failure to adhere to these rulings will result in an instant $50 fine and the dog owner s elimination from the competition. Vehicles & Motorbikes Speed limit for all vehicles 15 kph. Motorbikes may not be used after 8.30 pm and must be used in accordance with normal road rules. Any competitor contravening these rules will be fined and immediately eliminated from any further participation in the show. Helmets must be worn. Joy riding on any part of the grounds at any time will not be tolerated. Junior drivers (under 16yrs) must only use motorbikes under parental supervision. FEI Code of Conduct In all equestrian sports the horse must be considered paramount. The well-being of the horse shall be above the demands of breeders, trainers, riders, owners, dealers, organisers, sponsors or officials. All handling and veterinary treatment must ensure the health and welfare of the horse. The highest standards of nutrition, health, sanitation and safety shall be encouraged and maintained at all times. Adequate provision must be made for ventilation, feeding, watering and maintaining a healthy environment during transportation. Emphasis should be placed on increasing education in training and equestrian practices and on promoting scientific studies in equine health. In the interests of the horse, the fitness and competence of the rider shall be regarded as essential. All riding and training methods must take account of the horse as a living entity and must not include any technique considered by the FEI to be abusive. National Federations should establish adequate controls in order that all persons and bodies under their jurisdiction respect the welfare of the horse. The national and international Rules and Regulations in equestrian sport regarding the health and welfare of the horse must be adhered to not only during national and international events, but also in training. Competition Rules and Regulations shall be continually reviewed to ensure such welfare.

4 Horse Identification, Yards & Accommodation Registered horse/pony identification numbers must be worn at all times when competing. When not competing, all horses should have identification tags attached, including horse & person responsible name & contact phone #. Please keep wash down bays clean at all times. Moving horses to unallocated yards/paddocks is prohibited. Please use the skips provided for horse waste not rubbish bins are provided for rubbish. Temporary yards are not permitted. All yards/stables are to be left properly mucked out. Muck skips will be located near the yards. Entries & Entry Fees Online Entries will close on Tuesday 27 September 2016 www.equestrianentries.co.nz Postal Entries must be RECEIVED by Tuesday 20 September 2016 PO Box 245, Ngongotaha, 3010. Payment must be made with entries or entry is not accepted. Entries without correct/current ESNZ registration will not be accepted. No phone/email entries will be accepted. A maximum of two starts per day per horse/pony, with the exception of horses/ponies entered in the Young Dressage Horse. Maximum of 3 horses/ponies per rider. Horses may only be entered for one Level of Championship, including for the Level 1 and Level 2 Pony Championships (see Special Awards ). Late entries may be accepted at the discretion of the Event Secretary but will incur a $40 per horse fee which will not be eligible for a refund Class numbers will be limited and entries will be accepted in order of receipt wait lists may apply and riders will be advised should they be waitlisted Change of Class Fee is $20, and is non-refundable. The OC reserves the right to refuse any entry. 5 General Conditions The draw, yard listing and other event information will be available online at www.dressagebayofplenty.co.nz Where yarding requests cannot be met refunds will be paid after the show. Scratchings before close of entry are entitled to a full refund (minus Equestrian Entries/Manual & Admin fees), after closing date an 80% refund and after the 17 th October 50% with a vet or doctors certificate. All refunds are at the discretion of the OC Riders who are members of BOP clubs are required to either write or provide the name of someone who will write for part of the show. Prizemoney will be paid to 4 th place with rosettes to 5 th. All refunds and prize money will be issued after the show and paid by direct credit. Prize giving details will be advertised in the programme riders are expected to attend or arrange a substitute. Prizes may be substituted with sponsor products of the same or greater value. Team entry must be submitted by 5pm 21 st October at the Show Office. Teams consist of four riders. At least three of the horses must compete in different grades. One rider may only compete on one horse, unless is an area only has three riders, in which case one rider may compete on two horses. All horses and riders in each team must be from the same area, except that, if an area has insufficient riders competing at the Championships, up to two volunteer combinations from another area may be used provided they are not already in a team. Super 5 classes will count for Teams championship calculations. Points allocated are 10 for 1 st, 9 for 2 nd down to 1 for 10 th. In the event of a tie, the combined points of the two highest placed horses in each team will count An area may enter more than one team. Combinations may only compete for one team. If a team member scratches from the event a substitute horse and rider may be included in the team. Sponsors We ask that all competitors spend some time to thank our sponsors that support Dressage and Para Equestrian in NZ, either in writing (Sponsors contact details will be listed on the event program) or in person during the show. Without the generous sponsorship we receive, the cost to competitors would be considerable.

6 Special Awards McDreamy Trophy Donated by Kellie Hamlett. To be awarded to the best performed Bay of Plenty combination. Rider must be a financial member of one of the BOP dressage groups. Hanoverian Society Sashes. To be eligible for these awards a photocopy of Hanoverian registration (pink) papers must be loaded onto equestrian entries or manually supplied by the start of competition Champion and Reserve Champion awards. Points will be allocated across all classes in each grade in order to calculate the Champion & Reserve place getters. In the event of a tie the horse with the highest average percentage will be the winner. Note Para Equestrian Musical tests are weighted x 1.5. AMS Saddlery Pony and Young Rider Performance League Points for this series will be calculated from Classes 57 & 58 for Levels 1 & 2, and from the Super 5 tests for other levels. Refer to the ESNZ website for conditions and rider eligibility. 2016 North Island Champion Under 21 Rider Sponsored by Equestrian Entries Riders aged 21 or under at the start date of the show (22 October) are eligible for this award. Points will be calculated based on percentages gained across all levels In the event of a tie the horse with the highest average percentage will be the winner. L1 & L2 Pony Champion and Reserve Champion Sponsored by Equestrian Entries will be awarded competitors must nominate on their entry forms if they wish to be eligible for these awards OR the Championship in their respective Level, they cannot be awarded both. Thoroughbreds in Equestrian Sport an award for the highest scoring Thoroughbred at NI Champs, registered with the ESNZ TiES programme, (http://www.nzequestrian.org.nz/esnz/programmes/ties/) will be made.
