A Skater s guide to The 17 th ANNUAL ISI DISTRICT III SKATE FOR KNOWLEDGE COMPETITION SERIES and DISTRICT III CHAMPIONSHIPS The competition committee has been tracking your placements and participation in every ISI endorsed competition that was hosted in our district, this season, as well as all of the ISI national events. This tracking process will continue through the completion of the District III Championships on April 9, 2017. Your placements and participation have been quantified and you have been awarded quality points for all of your individual and team events in all of your competitions as follows: First Place = 6 points Second Place = 5 points Third Place = 4 points Fourth Place = 3 points Fifth Place = 2 points Participation = 1 point All of your placements and participation at the District III Championships will earn double the points listed above. If you are a member of a team, such as a synchro or production team, that places first in an event, every member of the team will earn 6 points at a Skate for Knowledge Series event or 12 points at the District III event to be added to your personal point total. So, why is this called the Skate for Knowledge Series? This is the exciting part Since you are all not only aspiring to be great skaters, but also to attend great colleges and universities, the Metropolitan Ice Rink Manager s Association (MIRMA) wants to reward your efforts on the ice, while helping you attain your educational goals. These scholarship prizes will be awarded as cash and will be immediately placed, upon award, as a contribution, into a 529 plan for the skater, to be released only upon enrollment and directly to an accredited institute of higher education. All skaters wishing to participate in the 2018-2019 season, must complete the MIRMA scholarship application by May 1, 2018.
