This month has been a little quieter, and I will summarise the outcomes of the previous committee meeting: Membership Fees It was very pleasing to see that members started paying their membership fees as soon as they became due. As the membership fees account for most of our income it is important they are paid prior to deadline at the end of this month. Timing of Committee Meeting I mentioned at the last GM meeting that the committee is seeking to shift the committee meetings to the week prior to the GM rather than week after the GM. 4

After gaining approval from the BMCC President on the club house availability, the committee meetings are now scheduled for the first Wednesday of the month commencing 3 rd October 2018. IHC Documentation Update of the club documentation is continuing. The IHC booklet is now finalised and uploaded onto our website. Sincere thankyou to Jeff Smith for his valuable input. Two Day Rally The time has come to commence the preparation for the Two-Day Rally, as you are aware this is our premier event and fundraiser. We are planning our first Two-Day Rally committee meeting this month which will allow for details to be presented in the October Newsletter. We have allocated 3 focus areas to plan for the rally namely: Administration, Grounds set up, Course planning and mapping. We are looking for 2 additional volunteers to join the committee and in due course we will need the band of volunteers to help the committee as required. Please see Glenda, Bert or me for any further details. Role of Membership Manager The Membership Manager is a new position within the committee and some clarification is needed to enable members to clearly understand who does what in terms of membership payment. For clarification if you need to pay your membership in person then please see Glenda not the treasurer. Dual Speed Mid-week Run for Older Bikes Traditionally the mid-week runs have been run without back-up and have by necessity facilitated more modern bikes on the run to the omission of older bikes. This issue as raised by Ross Eaton was discussed at the committee meeting, with the outcome being that at the next few mid-weeks runs it will be tried out with an informal decision by the members present at the run. If the members present who have chosen to ride older slower bikes decide to take a different route but with the aim to meet up with the main group at the same destination via separate routes, then that s up to them. The Club Captain is advising more detail on the ride via the club website to enable members who may live at other towns the opportunity to meet up with the main group. Collie Motoplex. The president of the Collie Motoplex has contacted me to see if we can muster a band of volunteers to assist them at the track in drilling and bolting together tyres for the track. If we can supply some volunteers, then he will in return allow us use of the track for an event we would like to hold. Please see me if you can help. 5

A Milestone Today is Glen Britza s 80 th birthday on behalf of the club we wish him all the best. CAPTAINS REPORT AUGUST 2018 Busso Mid-week Ride Report 15/8/18 The weather man smiled down on us today, the first time in the past 6 Busso ride days, and a very pleasant day it was, a little cool, but good. 12 riders turned out for the ride to Donnybrook. We set off down Bussell Hwy turning into Tuart Dr then into Ludlow N Rd followed it around in to Roberts Rd then North at Bussell Hwy East into Boyanup W Rd to Capel, then along to Donnybrook via South Western Hwy. Here we enjoyed our usual camaraderie, coffee, pies and goodies. From here we headed home via Goodwood Rd Capel Tutunup Rd, Ludlow Hithergeen Rd and Vasse Hwy arriving at Busso just after midday. A good day and a good ride. Peter W Bunbury Mid-week Run PM A beautiful day a meander to Ferguson Valley and stopping at the Jarrah King Tree where Leith & John were waiting for us with soup bread tea & coffee which was very welcome. Another place that has not been visited, so many good places to visit all in our backyard, time to go and Frank & Bert when the gravel road to ride down Pile Road, for the rest of us carried on down Ferguson Road back to Bunbury. Another top day out. Ricky's Run 2018 A beautiful day with a good start, on the way up Sandalwood Road a kangaroo got tangled in the fence wire, so Kenny & Danny came to the rescue. Mornington Rd was good nice and quiet as we meandered to Collie for smoko and fuel up. Then down Pile Road to Dardanup where a finish banner and checkered flag to finish the run, funny looks from the push bike people on the side of the road, but that did not deter us and went straight to the bakery. Another top day out. Bunbury Mid-week Run AM Another wet day but this time we had JC & Frank turn up. Frank turned up because of JC wanted to test run his bike after the repairs he completed. Then JC called it a day and went home. Busso Mid-week Ride Report 5/9/18 Another WWW day (wet windy Wednesday) it has been that way for months now, we just can t seem to jag good weather. However, 10 riders turned up for the ride, one being a visitor. It didn t start well, I had just about finished filling out the Indemnification Form when a gust of wind blew it into a big puddle of water and I could not retrieve it without getting my boots wet 6

so had to start over again signing everyone in again, which turned out to be good as a few members turned up late thinking it was a 9:30 start (they didn t read their Emails! 9:00 START or check the web site) After that short delay we set out down Vasse Hwy L at Ludlow Hithergreen Rd R into Tutunup Rd to Capel. Then along Gavins Rd L into Elgin Rd. R into Boyanup West Rd to Boyanup for morning tea. After a good long chat and coffee and pies (to worm us up, it was cold) we set of back home via Boyanup West Rd, Bussell Hwy. Roberts Rd, Mallokup Rd, Ludlow N Rd, Tuart Dr, Bussell Hwy arriving at Busselton about midday. A good ride a bit cold and only a bit of rain so all good. Peter W Spring Rally 22 starters for a cloudy day but just got better, 1 St stop was Nannup that was good everyone made that one, and the Busselton crew caught up and enjoyed morning tea. Second leg most people found Brockman Hwy, good to see Burnie & Glen were the lead scouts and were in front by 45 minutes of the next rider. Some went to Manjimup could have stopped at John Rooney s for a cuppa and 2 others JC & another John made it to Pemberton long way round for Greenbushes. Must have been a good ride did not want to stop. JC did call and made his way to Balingup. But we had moved on to Dardanup Bakery. When we got there he was closing, so no pies for John & John. Thanks to John & Leith for selecting a winner for this year s Spring Rally did not hear any bad reports but people enjoyed the ride even the extended rally was good. 16 riders who started the rally from Eaton and it was good to see the Busselton riders as well. Only 6 riders made it to all 3 check points. 6. Bernie McCormack 5. Glen Britza 4. Peter Hume 3. Jim Fox 2. Bill Pike 1. The winner John Churchill. No break downs so all was good. 12/9 Pm. Ride to Waroona Dam. 19/9 Busso Mid-week. 22 to 24 Sep. Wheat Belt Ride long weekend. 23/9 Mandurah Mob Run 26/9 AM Ride to Preston Beach and stopping at the Crooked Carrot 7

3 Oct Busso Mid-week Run, 7 th Oct Roy s Hamburger Run. Before next meeting. LIBRARIAN S REPORT-All Quiet. PROPERTY OFFICERS REPORT Quotes have been obtained for the warning sign on the back of the new trailer. Will be progressed at committee meeting. LICENSING LIAISON OFFICERS REPORT- Nil WEBSITE MANAGER REPORT- Nil GENERAL BUSINESS Bill Pike The Collie Motorplex is seeking volunteers to assist in bolting together the tyre walls for the new section of track. If a group of members can assist, just turn up at the track after 7am on a weekday. Further to this, Michael Rock has volunteered to try and arrange an all-day midweek ride in the next couple of weeks to the Motorplex. Check the website for any updates. Ross Eaton Ross advised that he had run into older members Wally & Elsie Turner and reported they are going ok & that they send their best wishes to the club. Michael Rock Michael clarified that the HMCC event mentioned earlier is restricted to Pre-1965 bikes in accordance with their club rules. Bert Sykes Bert gave a short account of his recent trip from Toodyay to Mt Augustus and return via back roads. Jorge Todoroff Jorge gave a short report on, and strong recommendation for, the Isle of Man TT. It was the 50 th anniversary of the Mike Hailwood Replica Ducati. BROOME CHRISTMAS TOY RUN 8/9/18 The Broome Toy Run was a success with over 50 bikes accompanied with trikes and cars and led by the local constabulary. Running it in September to avoid the wet season heat turned out to be a real winner as we only had one bike break down (mine with a totally fried battery). Previous years have seen several late model casualties. The number of toys collected was the biggest ever and I am sure the recipients at Christmas will be very greatful to the Roebuck Riders Broome Motorcycle Group for organizing the event. My choice for the day was the 1967 B40 350 BSA (oldest bike by about 30 years) which has been adapted to suit the local environment. Can t wait to do it again next year. Cheers, Dave and Fil Hart 10
