1. Participants and Eligibility: All ages are welcome to compete. Each participant must hold proper FWC fishing licenses and approvals, and all boats must be legally registered. All insurance is at the discretion of the individual boat owner. Professional guides are allowed to compete at the discretion of the Tournament committee, and guide status must be noted on the registration form and approved prior to the start of the event. 2. Entry Fees: Entry fees for this tournament ($25) are based on individual fishermen and do not fluctuate based on size of boat, skill level, or number of participants per boat. We encourage additional donations at any time during the tournament. 3. Citations: A contestant cited by officers for violation of State or Federal fishing or boating regulations will be disqualified. 4. Tackle and Equipment: All fish must be caught in a legal sporting manner. Intentional snagging of fish will not be allowed. Both artificial lures and live bait can be used. Liquid fish attractants are allowed. All boats must have floatation vests/cushions, fire extinguisher, working kill-switch to motor, first-aid kit, horn/whistle, and live-well. All boats are encouraged to bring photo-capable devices and to take pictures during the tournament. 5. Fishing Areas: You may fish from bank, dock, or boat as long you are fishing within 20 miles of Tween Waters Inn, where the tournament is held. All boats must have no less than two (2) participants and no non-participants are allowed in the boat. Registered participating boats do NOT need to launch from Tween Waters Inn, but all boats must follow time restrictions (starting no earlier than 7:00am Eastern) and must check-in and record their entries no later than 4pm Eastern at Tween Waters Inn. 6. Sportsmanship: All contestants are expected to follow high standards of sportsmanship, courtesy, safety, and conservation. Much of this tournament is based on the honor system and therefore, trustworthiness is of the utmost importance. Any team who displays poor sportsmanship, violates these rules or any state or local laws or brings unfavorable publicity to the sport of fishing will be disqualified. 7. Encroachment: A "50 yard rule" is in effect at all times during competition. No contestant's boat may move within 50 yards of another contestant's boat at any time for the purpose of fishing without the consent of all contestants involved. A boat moving from one area to another may infringe upon this zone as long and the parties that are moving do not
fish and do not intentionally disrupt the area. Judging distance is very difficult on the water. As a general rule of sportsmanship all anglers should give all others enough room to make a reasonable cast to fish an area. 8. Individual Scoring: To compete for 1 st Place, 2 nd Place, and 3 rd Place only LEGAL redfish, trout, snook and snapper can be scored. Current FWC regulations state the following legal sizes and limits for each of these species: Size Limit Daily Bag Limit Remarks Redfish Trout Snook More than 15 inches and less than 20 inches total length (may possess one over 20 inches included in bag limit) Not less than 18" no more than 27" total length 1 fish per person per day; 8 fish vessel limit Bag limits apply in areas adjacent to fishing sites such as docks and parking lots. 6 fish per person transport limit applies when traveling in a vehicle on land away from a fishing site. Each individual may enter as many of the aforementioned LEGAL fish as they choose, within bag limits. In order to avoid weight system inconsistencies, all fish will be measured based on length rather than weight. 1 st Place, 2 nd Place, and 3 rd Place rankings will be based on TOTAL LENGTH OF ALL LEGAL ENTERED FISH per individual participant. Please see below for information on Nulligans and how they may affect total inches counted. In addition to 1 st Place, 2 nd Place, and 3 rd Place rankings, the Tournament will include a Biggest Fish award. Sharks are not eligible for entry in this contest. Any other in-season fish, including over-slot fish, may be entered in this contest, but participants who wish to enter a non-legal fish in this contest (over-slot/out of season, etc) MUST provide picture documentation of the fish and its length in order to be counted. Biggest Fish ranking will be based on overall length of a single entry per registrant. Please see below for information on Nulligans and how they may affect total inches counted. 9. Nulligans: Each registered participant will have a collection cup assigned to him or her. This cup will collect Nulligans for that participant. Nulligan dollars will reduce the total inches entered by the affected registered participant. Both registered and non-registered participants may add money to any registered participant s cup. Breakdown is as follows: $5 = ½ inch Any remainder dollars, up to the next $5 level, do not count towards penalties. For example: $0-4 in Nulligans received: No penalty $5-$9 in Nulligans received: 1/2 inch penalty assessed $10-$14 in Nulligans received: 1 inch penalty assessed $15-$19 in Nulligans received: 1 1/2 inch penalty assessed $20-$24 in Nulligans received: 2 inch penalty assessed There is no upper limit on how many Nulligans a participant can receive. Nulligans can only be counted against Biggest Fish entries if that participant is NOT entering fish into the 1 st, 2 nd, and 3 rd Place contests. In the case of a Biggest Fish-only entry (no legal redfish, trout, snook, or snapper), that participant s Nulligans will be applied to the overall length of the single fish entry. 10. Rankings and Prizes: Based on overall size of fish, and after calculating all Nulligans, awards will be given for the following categories: 1 st Place (overall size) 2 nd Place (overall size) 3 rd Place (overall size) Biggest Fish (individual fish)
There will be no cash prizes, though winners will receive a custom, coveted Tervis tumbler noting their accomplishment. Prizes will be awarded Friday, November 25 th, at approximately 7pm. Any participants who cannot physically attend the award ceremony and who wins an award will be mailed their prize. The Tournament committee reserves the rights to change or modify any rules/programs. If any changes, the new changes would be announced at the meeting before the tournament.
