Spring Cycle Super Weekend Criterium Racing Racing at the Spring Cycle The racing aspect in Spring Cycle Super Week will be something that hasn t been seen in Sydney or NSW before. The entire racing aspect will focus on creating excitement about the racing of bicycles. Equal prize money for both men and women is an important aspect of this, inviting National Road Series (NRS) teams, both male and female, to compete for the series win. Bicycle NSW s iconic Spring Cycle is Sydney s largest recreational bike riding weekend The annual iconic Spring Cycle is the only cycling event that gives riders the unique opportunity to ride across the Sydney Harbour Bridge. It attracts just under 10,000 participants every year. It is the one day where cyclists have priority on Sydney s inner CBD roads. The riders get to cruise along the Cahill Expressway, past the Sydney Opera House and into the historic Rocks area all car free. The Spring Cycle caters for all abilities, all types of bikes and all ages (kids ride free). 2017 Ambassadorsincludes: Caroline Buchanan - 7x BMX and Mountain Bike World Champion and 16 x Australian National BMX and Mountain Bike Champion. Robbie McEwen - SBS commentator, professional road racer and former TourDe France legend Turia Pitt - humanitarian, athlete, motivationalist, andauthor. Since 1983, the Spring Cycle has been attracting riders of all ages and abilities, on bikes of all shapes and sizes. By showcasing Sydney s growing cycling infrastructure and facilities, the event promotes cycling as a viable, sustainable recreation and transport option, and the importance of a healthy, community lifestyle. In 2017 the Spring Cycle is growing to a cycling festival weekend. Growing numbers of riders in NSW has been seen in cycling as a recreational activity, sport and/or a mode of transport. Spring Cycle will utilize Sydney Olympic Park and their surroundings to create the biggest cycling event Sydney has ever seen! On Saturday 14 th October and Sunday 15 th October Olympic Park will be transformed into a cycling mecca. It will be a massive weekend filled with riding, criterium racing and discovering all that is cycling ~10,000 PARTICIPANTS
