SUMMER READING STARTS MAY 29! Reading Logs/Adult bookmarks can be picked up any time on or after May 29 at 9:00 am Rules for Summer Reading 1. The program opens Tues., May 29 and closes Fri., July 27 at 5:00 pm 2. Books can be of any form or type, whatever you like to read! 3. Prizes will be distributed as you complete the program. (Reading logs can be turned in anytime from June 4-July 27.) 4. Four separate reading programs will be offered this year. Ages 0-4: Complete at least 10 activities on reading log (Grade is based on the grade the reader will be in NEXT year). K 2 nd grade: 10 books 3 rd - 12 th grade: Choice of 10 hours or 10 books Adults: 3 books 5. While you are encouraged to keep reading all summer, each patron is eligible for only one bag of prizes. 6. Each patron that finishes the reading program will be eligible for the drawing for the bigger summer prizes. 7. Children finishing the reading program will be invited to the End of Summer Reading Program Party. 8. Keep reading for more chances to win bigger prizes. NO LIMIT ON THE NUMBER OF BOOKS YOU CAN READ! Summer Reading Kick-Off Celebration Monday, June 4, 1-4 pm Jasper Library is excited to offer a new Summer Reading Kick-off party for children of all ages. We will have fun inflatables for children to climb and slide on out in the Library Park. Adult supervision is required for children under the age of 8. Ice cream sundaes will also be offered. Summer Reading logs will be available to pick up. Pop-Up Programs Various Dates Sometimes the Library plans or adds lastminute unscheduled activities. Clint Jivion Thursday, June7, 2 pm This wilderness program will explore the endless possibilities that rocks and stones offer in a wilderness or camp scenario. This program will be in the Library Park. Professor Steve s Supersonic Sound Show Tuesday, June 12, 10 am & 2 pm In this program, Professor Steve establishes that sound=vibration. He then proceeds to cause a multitude of things to vibrate and bring forth sound. Karaoke - ages 10 and up Monday, June 18, 6 pm Kids and teens ages 10 and up are invited to come show their singing abilities in a fun filled karaoke night at the Library! This will take place in the theater. ****ATTENTION!!!**** Feature Programs are for children of all ages. Programs will be held in the Library theater except where noted. Seating in theater is limited to the first 100 children. After all the children have been seated, parents will be allowed to fill remaining seats. PLAN TO ARRIVE AT LEAST 15 MINUTES BEFORE PROGRAM START TIME TO ENSURE YOU WILL GET A NUMBERED ENTRANCE TICKET. No registration required. 4

Silly Safaris Tuesday, June 26, 2 pm at Jasper Middle School This show starring Coyote Chris is titled LIBRARIES ROCK! A Celebration of Animals in MUSIC! This show contains live animals and lots of audience participation. The BUBBLE CAR is Returning! Monday, July 16, 10 am The Bubble Car will be returning to Jasper Library. The children will have fun making bubbles of all shapes and sizes in Library Park! Fun for all ages! Instrument Petting Zoo Tuesday, July 17, 2 pm Children are invited to come and explore various musical instruments such as a violin, trumpet, guitar, and more. This program will take place in the Library Annex. Animal Tales: Born to Be Wild Tuesday, July 24, 10 am & 2 pm This live animal program will feature exotic animals from all over the globe that will demonstrate their unique vocal abilities. Pokémon Playgroup Saturday, June 2 & July 7, 1 pm If you enjoy all things Pokémon, join with other Pokémaniacs to battle, trade and have fun! Bring a DS or 3DS, Pokémon games, and all things Pokémon. Dance Party Friday, June 8, 2 pm Children ages 4-7 are invited to this fun dance party with the Children s Librarians in the Library Annex. We will have fun dancing to all sorts of fun music. We will use some fun props like scarves and ribbons. During a short break, we will read a fun book about music. REGISTRATION STARTS MAY 30. Chalk Day Wednesday, June 13, 6:30 7:30 pm Children of all ages are welcome to help decorate the sidewalks outside the Library. No registration required, just come and have fun! Ice cream floats will be served. Summer Storytime Saturday, June 16, 10 am or Thursday June 21, 10 am The Library will have two, one-time only classes during Summer Reading. All ages are invited for this fun time of stories, crafts, and activities. Cheer Camp June 20th Grades K-2 9-10:30 Grades 3-5 10:45pm 12:30pm More Info to Come 6

CRAFTS/HOBBIES The Library will be hosting several activities for a wide range of children and teens throughout the summer. Award Winning Musician Jim Gill Give Where You Live! Kickoff Sunday, June 3, 2 pm Astra Theatre Jim Gill, award winning musician and author will offer a fun family concert for all ages. Jim strums energetic rhythms on his banjo while everyone claps, sings, dances and even sneezes along to the silly and inspiring musical games that he creates. Jim has released 7 award winning CDs of music play for young children that are favorites in family rooms, classrooms, and playrooms. The Astra Theatre accommodates 375 people, admission will be on a first come basis. Concert is free for all ages. Annual Give Where You Live Day Friday, October 26 Watch for Special Events all Day. End of Summer Reading Party Tuesday, July 31, 6-8:30 pm The Jasper Library will be hosting our annual end of Summer Reading Party at Jasper Skate Palace for patrons of all ages completing the Summer Reading Program. Skating, face painting and other activities will be available for patrons who completed the Summer Reading program. 8

MOVIES Movies will be shown on the following dates. Look for more information to follow. Check our online calendar for movie titles. Any child under the age of 10 will need parental permission. The Jasper Public Library is pleased to again be a host site for the Summer Feeding program. Snacks will be distributed at the Jasper Public Library on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2 pm -3 pm during the months of June and July. There is no cost or registration to participate. Tech Help by appointment Concert in the Park Dates & times TBA Bring your lawn chairs and join us to celebrate the Summer Reading Program theme: Libraries Rock. Watch our website and Facebook page for dates and times when local performers will be playing in Library Park in front of the Library. Off the Hook NeedleCrafters' Club First Tuesday each Month, 6:30 pm Bring your needlecrafts with you and join other crafters for an informal get together, sharing your yarn and needle passion. If you need help with your technology during the Summer Reading Program, please contact the Library to make an appointment. Walkers Forum Thurs., June 28 & July 26, 6:30 pm All walkers are invited to this informal meeting to find out about walking towards a healthy you. We will share ways to track your walking, and where to walk in Dubois County. Genealogy Work Sessions Friday, June 8 & 22, 9 am - Noon Friday, July 13 & 27, 9 am - Noon Special genealogy work sessions will be held on the 2nd and 4th Fridays during the summer. Library staff and genealogists will be available in the Genealogy room of the Library to offer extra assistance during this time. 10

Summer Canvas Painting Monday, June 18, 6 pm Join us in the Annex as Tyler Walton helps you create your own canvas painting to take home. All participants will be completing the same painting, design to be announced. Registration required. Home Depot Workshop Wednesday, June 20, 6 pm Get hands on experience building a DIY project with Home Depot s Kim Jones. A list of supplies and instructions will be given to registered participants. One lucky participant will take the project we build home. Registration strongly encouraged. Red Cross Blood Drive Wednesday, June 27, 1-6 pm The Blood Mobile will be parked at the Library Annex. Donors may sign-in at the Annex in the meeting room. Those with appointments get priority, drop-ins will be taken as time permits. STEM Explorers Camp will give campers fun and creative opportunities to explore Science, Technology, Engineering and Math by using electrical circuits, robots, and rockets to spark campers interest in STEM and STEM-related fields. The camps will encourage teamwork and cooperation among campers and connect campers with local or national STEM role models.
