basketball development center 2008 graduates Lance Stemler & D.J. White help break ground for the new facility. the new basketball development center, located in close proximity to Assembly Hall, will serve as the daily headquarters for the men s and women s basketball programs, providing them with a state-of-the-art venue in which to practice, train and condition. The 67,000-squarefoot, multilevel facility features practice courts, locker rooms, coaches offices and meeting/video rooms. north end zone facility The north end zone of memorial stadium will become the site of a signature, 100,000-square-foot facility that will address several critical needs for IU Athletics providing student athletes in every varsity sport with access to essential weight training and cardio equipment. and our student athletes. > Leading the architectural > At the heart of the new structure will be a 24,000-squarefoot strength and conditioning center, located at field level, planning and design of the facility is Ratio Architects of Indianapolis, assisted by Moody- Nolan, also of Indianapolis. The groundbreaking for the project occurred July 2007. Phase I, which focused on the foundation, was finished on November, 27, 2007. The resulting horseshoe layout will connect the East and West stands and will enhance the gameday atmosphere on football Saturdays. hoosiers in the nba HOOSIERS IN THE NBA Indiana has seen 20 players selected in the first round of the NBA Draft and more than 50 former Hoosiers have gone on to play in the NBA. Isiah Thomas (second from left) led the Detroit Pistons to two NBA titles and was voted one of the top 50 players in NBA history. He is a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame. media coverage As a Member of the big ten conference, Indiana receives some of the best exposure in the country. Each week, Big Ten basketball is televised by CBS, ESPN, ESPN2 and the Big Ten Network. All of IU s 31 regular season games will be televised nationally. 30 08/09 INDIANA basketball
