Natinal Federatin f State High Schl Assciatins rules will in effect except fr the fllwing mdificatins: Lcatin Games will be played at Gregry Street Fields (GSF). Please give yurself plenty f time t get t yur games ahead f schedule. Remember that all team members must be signed in and ready t play at game time t avid a frfeit. Schedule Majr Sprts will be divided int cmpetitive and recreatinal leagues. Cmpetitive Leagues Designed fr players that want a cmpetitive envirnment and want t cmpete fr a champinship. Frmat: Fur scheduled regular seasn games. Tp ½ f each divisin will advance t a single eliminatin playff. Recreatinal Leagues Designed fr players that want t participate in sprt with friends in a recreatinal envirnment. Frmat: Six scheduled regular seasn games. N playff will fllw the regular seasn. If yur team is unable t make it t yur game, be sure t cntact the Intramural Sprts Office at intramuralsprts@ilstu.edu by 2:00pm the day f yur game (if yur game is scheduled during the weekend, yu must cntact the Intramural Sprts Office by 2:00pm the Friday befre yur game). This will enable yur team t be credited with a default rather than a frfeit. Unfrtunately, Intramural Sprts games can be impacted by the weather. We reserve the right t cancel, pstpne, r reschedule games due t inclement weather. When inclement weather arises, Intramural Sprts staff will send ut cancelatins via IMLeagues. Regular seasn games canceled due t inclement weather may nt be rescheduled due t the limited amunt f time and space t play. When playff games are pstpned due t weather, the Intramural Sprts Staff will make every effrt t make up all remaining games in the playff turnament. Playff brackets will be updated n IMLeagues t reflect the updated dates and times. Players A legal team shall cnsist f 7 players (6 plus a galkeeper). A team may start a game with the minimum f nine (5) players (4 plus a galkeeper). CRec teams may play with any cmbinatin f the fllwing: 3 males & 3 females + Galkeeper f either gender 3 males & 2 females + Galkeeper f either gender 2 males & 3 females + Galkeeper f either gender 2 males & 2 females + Galkeeper f either gender A speaking captain must be designated fr each team. They alne may appeal t the fficial, and then nly n interpretatins f the rules. Judgment calls may nt be prtested. If a prtest ccurs, the game is t be stpped immediately and prper dcumentatin must be filled ut befre play resumes.
Eligibility Please reference the Intramural Sprts Participant Handbk fr any eligibility clarificatin. Playffs In rder t make the playffs, teams must meet the fllwing criteria: Finish in the tp ½ f their divisin. The team must maintain at least a 3.0 team sprtsmanship rating thrughut the seasn. N team that frfeits any regular seasn game will be allwed t participate in the playffs. Teams are able t add players t their rster at any pint, including playffs. Equipment N jewelry is permitted during play. Teams must wear shirts that are the same shade f clr. Galkeepers must wear a different clred shirt. If a team is nt able t prvide shirts, jerseys will be prvided. All players must wear clsed te shes. N screw-in r metal cleats will be allwed. Head decratins, headwear, and bandanas are illegal. Only elastic headbands and hair cntrl devices are permitted. N casts, splints, and metal braces will be allwed unless they have been sufficiently padded. Each team is encuraged t bring a sccer ball t warm-up. Intramural Sprts will supply a game ball. NOTE: Yu must schedule an appintment with an Intramural Sprts Prfessinal Staff member prir t playing if yu have a special equipment need (i.e. religius r medical). All equipment decisins made n site by the Intramural Sprts Staff n duty shall be final. Game Regulatins Each half will be 18 minutes in length with a cntinuus running clck. Halftime shall nt exceed three (3) minutes. N injury r stppage time will be added at the end f the half. The clck nly will stp fr all injuries requiring EMS. Time-uts will nt be allwed. Slide tackles are illegal in Intramural Sccer and will result in a card. A gal may be scred during play frm a direct free kick, penalty kick, crner kick, gal kick, r drp ball. A gal may nt be scred directly frm an indirect free kick r thrw-in. T scre a gal, the ball must cmpletely crss the gal line. After the gal, the ball is returned t the center f the field fr anther kickff. The team that gave up the gal will kick-ff. The fficial blwing their whistle warrants a dead ball (even if inadvertent). Playffs Only: One five (5) minute sudden death ( glden gal ) vertime perid will be played. The first team t scre is the winner. If a tie still ccurs at the end f the vertime perid, then a penalty kick shtut will fllw. Dead Balls The ball is ut f play when it cmpletely crsses the sidelines r the end lines. The fficial will blw their whistle t signal when the ball is ut f play. A thrw-in will be awarded when the ball ges ut n a sideline (if red team kicked it ut, it s blue teams thrw). Bth feet must be in cntact with the grund when the ball leaves the thrwer s pssessin and bth hands in cntact with the ball. The ball must cmpletely travel behind the head and straight frward. If the persn vilates this, the fficial will reward a thrw-in t the ppsing team frm the same lcatin. A gal kick is awarded t the defensive team when the ball is kicked ut by the attacking team n the defensive gal line. On a gal kick, nly the kicker can be in the 14 yrd bx and the ball must cmpletely travel utside f the 14 yrd bx (secnd and largest f the tw gal bxes) befre it can be tuched by anther player. A drpball will ccur at the place f an injury (if there was n ful cmmitted) as a way t resume play fairly. A crner kick is awarded when the defensive team kicks the ball ut n their wn gal line.
Grace Perid If at game time a team is nt ready fr play, a 10 minute grace perid will be autmatically enacted. Step 1-0 9:59 minutes, a team which is nt ready t play will be penalized and start the game dwn 1 gal with a 0-1 scre and cannt receive mre than a 3 sprtsmanship rating. Step 2 Cmpetitive Sprts Supervisr will call frfeit at the 10 minutes if a team is nt ready fr play (dressed, n the curt, signed in) mark and a frfeited team will receive a 0 sprtsmanship rating. Minutes Late Penalty Sprtsmanship 0-9:59 minutes Starting scre 1-0 Max 3 10 minutes Frfeit Max 0 Mercy Rule If a team is ahead by five (5) r mre gals with five (5) minutes r less remaining in the secnd half, the fficial will blw their whistle three times t signal the end f the game. Substitutins Players shall ntify the fficial befre entering as a substitute; players can begin walking t the half-line. There are n subs n the fly, nly n the belw dead balls, after the fficial signals the player(s) n Substitutins may ccur during gal kicks, half time, gals (befre kick-ff), injuries, & thrw-ins r crner kicks. Only the team in pssessin f the ball n a crner kick r thrw in may substitute but if the team in pssessin f the ball chses t substitute, the ppsing team may als substitute at that time. Galkeeping The galkeeper within her r his wn penalty area shall nt take mre than six secnds while in pssessin f the ball r deliberately delay getting rid f the ball when it is in her r his pssessin. The ball must be played by anther player fr the galkeeper t be allwed anther pssessin. If the galkeeper plays the ball t a teammate and the teammate deliberately passes the ball back t the galkeeper, the galkeeper may nt use her r his hands. The galkeeper has pssessin (cntrl) f the ball when she r he is tuching the ball with any part f her r his hands r arms. Frm the mment the galkeeper takes cntrl f the ball (including a "parry") with hand(s) r arm(s), after releasing the ball, she r he may nt tuch the ball with her r his hands again until it has been played anywhere by the ppsing team. A gal may nt be scred directly frm a gal kick. NOTE: An ppsing player shall nt hinder a galkeeper in pssessin f r releasing the ball (bxing-in, face guarding, waving the arms, yelling, etc.) Fuls and Miscnduct Belw is the breakdwn f direct and indirect calls and sme cmmn fuls. Please nte that ultimately, it is at the discretin f the fficial depending n the circumstances f the play. Miscnduct A player r spectatr shall be cautined fr: persistently infringing upn the rules f the game r acting in an unsprtsmanlike manner and/r bjecting by wrd f muth r actin t the decisins given by an fficial. A player r cach will be disqualified fr persistent miscnduct r a secnd cautin and/r exhibiting vilent cnduct r using vilent r abusive language. Persistent Infringement If a player r team cntinuusly fuls r des nt adhere t any specific rule thrughut the game, any player may be cautined fr the same ffense after a pint the fficial deems the rule infringement has ccurred ften enugh. Direct Kick: Kicking-Striking-Tripping-Jumping A player shall nt intentinally attempt t kick, strike, r jump at an ppnent. A galkeeper may nt intentinally strike r attempt t strike an ppnent by thrwing the ball at the ppnent. A player shall nt intentinally trip an ppnent.
Handling A player shall be penalized fr intentinally handling, carrying, striking r prpelling the ball with a hand r arm. If a defensive player handles the ball n an bvius (fficial's judgment) gal-scring play and they are in the bx the player will be issued a red card (ejected) and the ffensive team will receive a penalty kick. A player shall nt hld, push r impede an ppnent with hands r arms extended frm the bdy. Charging A player shall nt intentinally charge an ppnent. An charge is ne in which a player des nt use shulder-t-shulder cntact with an ppnent, des nt have arms and elbws clse t the bdy, and has at least ne ft n the grund and the ball within playing distance. A player having ne r bth feet n the grund shall nt charge int an ppnent that has n feet n the grund. A player shall nt charge int the galkeeper in the penalty area. An fficial shall disqualify any player wh flagrantly fuls the galkeeper in pssessin f the ball. Pssessin r cntrl f the ball is when the galkeeper has the ball trapped by either r bth hands r when buncing it t the grund r when releasing the ball int play. Outside the penalty area, the galkeeper has n mre privileges than any ther player des. Nte: When galkeepers put the ball n the grund, they relinquish their rights as galkeepers. Keeper Fuls: Strikes r attempts t strike a player by thrwing r kicking the ball r by pushing an ppnent with the ball If smene cmmits a flagrant ful against the keeper, it will result in a direct free kick Indirect Kick Dangerus Play All high kicks abve the waist (f the persn kicking) in a dangerus manner will be prhibited. Obstructin Obstructin is the intentinal act by a player, nt in pssessin f the ball r nt attempting t play the ball, f running between an ppnent and the ball r using the bdy as an bstacle. Red and Yellw Cards Yellw card: Will be given t players that exhibit pr behavir and/r cmmit a hard ful. Examples: Dissent twards an fficial, slide tackling, sliding, unsprtsmanlike act t anther player, etc. Sft Red card: This will be given t an individual player receiving tw yellw cards. When a player receives the 2nd yellw card, shw the yellw card, and then immediately shw the red card t the individual. When a team s player receives a sft red, the team may nt substitute a persn fr the ffending individual Red card: An immediate red card will be awarded fr any player exhibiting extremely pr sprtsmanship r a severe penalty. Examples: Extreme dissent t an fficial, attempt at r actual act f fighting, etc. When a team s player receives a red card, the team may nt substitute a persn fr the ffending individual. Offsides A player is in an ffside psitin when they are in the ppnents' half f the pitch, clser t the gal than the ball and the last defender (nt cunting the galkeeper). The ffside player cannt be invlved in an attack If the ball is played past half first and an ffensive player beats the defense t it, play n. If a player n the ffensive team is ruled ffside, the ppnent will be awarded the ball at the pint they became ffside (fr example, if they were called ff just past half, but cntinued t run, the ball wuld be placed at the place just past half. Offsides is nt enfrced n thrw-ins r crner kicks (nly applies t play immediately fllwing kick)
General Infrmatin Prir t Game Time: Players must check in at the field they are scheduled t play. Valid IDs must be presented at check-in. Acceptable frms f IDs are: Current Illinis State University student ID. Current faculty/staff ID with pht ID. NO ALCOHOL OR TOBACCO is allwed at any Intramural Sprts venue. Anyne fund cnsuming alchl r using tbacc prducts will be asked t leave the facility and may face additinal disciplinary actin. Participants wh appear t be under the influence will als be asked t leave. Sprtsmanship Intramural Sprts has develped a sprtsmanship rating system that is intended t be an bjective scale utilized by the Intramural Sprts team members t evaluate attitude and behavir thrughut each Intramural Sprts cntest. After each game, the Officials will rate each team n their sprtsmanship befre, during, and after each Intramural Sprts game. T be eligible fr the playffs each team must average a 3.0 r better thrughut the regular seasn. A sprtsmanship rating belw 3 is cnsidered t be unacceptable. Any team receiving an unacceptable rating will be ntified via email. Any team receiving a sprtsmanship rating f 1 will be required t set up a meeting with the Intramural Sprts Office prir t their next scheduled cntest. Failure t d s will result in the frfeiture f any subsequent games. Teams receiving an unacceptable sprtsmanship rating in the playffs will be eliminated regardless f the utcme f the game. An unacceptable rating in the playffs may subject the ffending team t further cnsequences as determined by the Intramural Sprt Office fr ther Intramural Sprts activities r seasns. Scale Descriptin 5 Excellent Cnduct and Sprtsmanship - Captain, players, and fans all display an excellent attitude. Cnduct is psitive and respectful at all times, even if the ppnent des nt display a high level f sprtsmanship. If necessary the captain calmly cnverses with the Intramural Sprts Officials regarding rule interpretatins and calls. The team has winning and lsing in perspective such that their cnduct in all ways prvides an example fr the league and the prgram. 4 Gd Cnduct and Sprtsmanship - The team shws gd sprtsmanship and cperates with the ppsing team, Officials, and Intramural Sprts Supervisr. Oppnents are treated with respect and there are n warnings, yellw cards, r unsprting technical fuls. 3 Average Cnduct and Sprtsmanship - The team still shws cperatin with fficials and ppnents but may have sme cmplaints and grumbling. Gd attitude is missing n ccasin but there are n blatant displays f bad attitude. The captain is in cntrl f the team. 2 This is an unacceptable rating. Belw Average Cnduct and Sprtsmanship - Team cnstantly cmments t the Officials, Intramural Supervisr, and/r ppsing team frm the field and/r sidelines. Pr sprtsmanship may include nn-verbal and disrespectful attitude tward the fficials r ppnents. Team captain exhibits little r n cntrl ver teammates r himself/herself. 1 This is an unacceptable rating. Pr Cnduct and Sprtsmanship - Captain has n cntrl ver teammates and/r himself/herself. Team is cmpletely uncperative and prly represents themselves and the Illinis State Intramural Sprts Prgram. Player ejectins, malicius intent, and cheating culd all be behavirs displayed by a team receiving a 1. If a team feels they have been rated unfairly by the Officials during the game, there is a sectin n the sprtsmanship evaluatin frm that allws Captains t appeal the rating and prvide persnal input. ***The Intramural Sprts Office reserves the right t put int effect any new ruling regarding Intramural Sprts plicies, prcedures and unsprtsmanlike cnduct***
