2014 G-DAY GAME POST-GAME QUOTES April 12, 2014 Sanford Stadium Head Coach Mark Richt I thought it was a great day as far as weather and our fans. The Redcoat Marching Band and the cheerleaders were here, I thought it was a great day for Georgia football and the University of Georgia. I thought it was a pretty cleanly played game. I m thankful that only one guy was hurt and it wasn t too serious. We re not thankful that he got hurt, but that it wasn t bad and it was the only injury. On the quarterbacks Hutson (Mason) did a nice job like he s been doing all spring long, finding the open targets an getting the right protection. I thought he stood in the pocket and delivered it well and bought some time back there. I thought he did a nice job overall. Faton I think made a wise decision to go with the normal colored jersey and play live. He showed we he can do athletically, and I thought he did a very nice job. Brice struggled a little bit today with his accuracy. He and Jacob (Park) both threw a couple of balls that shouldn t have been thrown, but that s just the learning process that you go through as a young quarterback. But I think those guys are very talented. I m not going to sit here and say what kind of pecking order we have; it was just one day. We have a couple of more days of practice. I thought the quarterback play overall was pretty good today. On the rhythm between Hutson Mason and Chris Conley The tempo of the offense was outstanding. I think Hutson really enjoys the faster pace. He handles that very well. Chris is a very accomplished receiver in my mind. He runs good routes and gets good separation, and Hutson knows where best to place it to give him the best shot of making a play. On the defense It s going to take some time before we can sit here and say what our lineup is going to be. Our defense has a lot of freshman and junior college players coming in. In the secondary we have some younger players coming in with some ability who will give us a boost and fight for a starting job. QB Faton Bauta We threw the ball a lot, so I had to stay in the pocket. We had good protection and the guys up front did a good job. I had my reads and my keys and I just played ball. OLB Leonard Floyd It went well. We got a lot of film for a lot of guys for the coaches to breakdown and give their feedback on Tuesday. I think I did well overall. I can always do better. And I ll just check the film to see that I can improve on. WR Clay Johnson It was fun, and I m glad I got to play in a game atmosphere. It was hot out there so it was tough playing no-huddle. It was good to see how the guys played when they were gassed. QB Hutson Mason I thought it went well. Our biggest enemy was depth and throwing the ball deep. It was hotter out than we thought so running no-huddle with receivers was tough. The guys got gassed but it was good to see them push through it. I still feel like we left some deep balls out there. DB Lucas Redd It went pretty well. As Coach (Jeremy) Pruitt said there was some good and some bad, so it was somewhere in between. It was fun to get out and play football. DB Damian Swann It feels good to get out and play in a real game today. I thought we played well. We still have some stuff to work on too. Everyone got after it today and put in a good effort. I felt really good about where we are headed. ILB Ramik Wilson Today was a success. We still have a lot to work on obviously, but that s what spring ball is for. It was a great environment to play in today. We have some great fans and it s always great to play in front of them. I m already excited about the fall. It can t get here fast enough.
