The Information for each race depends on the number of heats and is outlined in the Marshalling Books. Some age groups have up to 80 students so it will be necessary to run preliminary semi-finals. The Preliminary Semi-finals will mostly have 3 to the Semi-finals. There will be two semi-finals with top 4 in each one to the finals. ( No ribbons are given for semi-finals.) Finals: Six places will be given school logo ribbons one to six. All 6 places must be recorded. Finals for the 2006, 2005and 2004 sprints will need to have the first 4 places timed. Times needed for the children in the school team are needed for seeded races at the next carnival. 200M Heats: First 4 places timed in each race with the 8 fastest times making the final. The first 4 Judges are expected to time races as well as pick places. The Finals for the 200 Metres will need to have the first 4 places timed as well. 800M Races: One race with top 4 places timed for future reference. (District competition seeds races). Some age groups will have to have a Heat 1 and a Heat 2. Overall places are the top 6 runners from both races. The first 4 places in the 200 Metre heats must be timed so that the top eight runners go to the finals. Students in the first 4 places are to be given time ticket to go to the recorders. The recorders will use a 200 Metre Recorders Program to writes down the times for the best 4 runners in each heat. They will then highlight the best 8 runners from all the heats in that event and this will become the Marshall book for 200 Metre Finals. The Judges, Vanessa Thomas and Drew Williams will have to make sure that this process is working properly. In the Finals the recorders will be too slow because they are recording the first six places which are necessary for selecting relay teams with reserves for the District Team. They will also be recording the times for the first 3 runners in each final for the District. It will be necessary to make sure the children wait in line patiently. See next page.

Any Parents without a job and you are moving around with your child it would be appreciated if you could help at that event so that a worker could go and watch their own child run during that time. To ring the last lap bell in the 800M races : Mr. Willliams. We certainly have room to use some more helpers. Thank you to those people who have offered to help. If I have not used your Christian name it is because I do not know it. I am only aware of expertise in athletics areas of some of the parent helpers. If you are qualified in an area and I have not put your expertise to good use you could let me know. I have tried to put people on Field Events in events that your children are competing in. In a perfect world you could move around with your child and work at that event. I am not prepared to risk that working, but if you can arrange a change with someone else see me at the event time. Indooroopilly State School Physical Education Teacher.
