CLASS DESCRIPTIONS Children s Division Student Division Tutu Toddlers (TTT) Toddlers explore and develop their basic motor skills and coordination, while cultivating rhythmic awareness and use of imagination with their participating adult. This class prepares them to move to the next level, Creative Movement. 18 months to 3½ yrs. old with adult participation Creative Movement (CM) Students continue to explore movement with increasing complexity and awareness of motor skills, while beginning to incorporate basic ballet steps and terminology. 3½ to 5 years old. Pre-Ballet (Pre) This is an introductory ballet class for students with no previous ballet or dance experience. Students begin learning the fundamentals and terminology of ballet technique. This class emphasizes proper body placement and musicality. Age 5 and older with evaluation Beginning Ballet I, II, & III (BBI, BBII, BBIII) This class is for students with at least 1 year of pre-ballet training. Students will expand barre work in intensity and duration and will be introduced to beginning center work. The beginning ballet syllabus spans 3 consecutive skill levels. Age 6 and older with evaluation Intro To Ballet (Intro) This class is a beginning ballet class for students with no prior training ages 9-14. Students learn basic barre, center work and terminology in preparation for Level 1. Ages 9-14 Levels 1-8 A comprehensive curriculum that challenges students to strengthen technique through a progressive syllabus. Students matriculate to the next level at an individual pace as the skill set of each leveled syllabus is attained. It is not uncommon to spend more than one year in a level. Boys Ballet Boys Ballet Class is a supplement to the leveled ballet classes. These special classes focus on jumps, turns, athleticism, and the strength building necessary for the male dancer. Only fully enrolled students may participate in the Annual School Demonstration

The official leotard supplier will be Motionwear. Every Level Intro to Level 8 student will be required to have style #2516 in their level color for the Annual School Demonstration. You may order the demo leotard as well as other acceptable styles at the front desk. Many styles and sizes are kept in stock. General Dress Code Guidelines Girls: Leotards: Each Level has a specific color. Leotards may be camisole, tank, cap or 3/4 sleeve. They may not have crisscrossed back straps, decorations, attached skirts, shirring, or contrasting colors or trim, lace or mesh, zippers or halter style. All leotards must conform to a ballet cut leg. Students wearing high cut, folded under or pulled up leotards will be asked to change in order to participate in class. Tights: Pink full footed tights (convertible tights are acceptable). No under garments (including underwear). Ballet Shoes: Pink ballet shoes with sewn elastic (leather shoes are preferred to strengthen feet). Drawstrings must be tucked in. Either split or full sole is acceptable (full sole preferred). Slipper style shoes are not acceptable. Hair: Proper hair is an important part of etiquette. Hair should be pulled away from the face and neck in a high or low bun. Short hair may be pinned back from the face. No swinging ponytails, moderate small bows or flowers may be worn. For hair bun instructions visit The School s Facebook page and watch the how to video. Pointe Shoes: All shoes must have sewn ribbons, and any strings or torn material hanging off the tips must be removed. Jewelry: No Jewelry except post earrings. Warm Up Clothes: No warm up clothes or skirts can be worn in ballet class. Ballet Skirts: Skirts may be worn in rehearsal or variations class for Level 5-8. Contemporary (Level 4/5)/ (Level 2-4): Level leotard and pink tights. Convertible tights may be rolled to calf. Ballet shoes or bare feet, no socks. Student Division Boys (Intro to Level 1-8) Pants/Tights: Black full or capri length tights, boys in Intro & Level 1-8 classes may not wear cycling or athletic shorts. Shirt: Plain white t-shirt (Level 3-7 must have shirts tucked in). Ballet Shoes: Black ballet shoes with sewn elastics (leather shoes are encouraged to strengthen feet). Either split or full sole is acceptable (full sole is preferred) Socks: White socks Additional Disciplines (//Musical Theatre) Free dress leotard, may wear fitted shorts or jazz pants. Hair may be worn in a ponytail with instructor permission. Borrow Box A Borrow Box of shoes is available but all shoes need to be returned at the end of class. Donations to the Borrow Box are greatly appreciated! Street Clothes Etiquette Students must enter and exit the building with street shoes and a cover up over leotard and tights.

($50.00 for students registering after February 1st). Note: SEMESTER and MONTHLY payment schedules require equal payments for the program. It is an installment of the entire tuition amount (8 equal payments) and does not reflect the number of classes within the allotted period of time. Semester payments may only be made in Spring if they were made in Fall. For refund policy please see the Student Handbook. OPEN DIVISION TUITION Student Division Drop-in Classes The student open division allows students to take a drop in class. Based upon availability and evaluation by the School Principal, non-registered students may be allowed to drop into Student Division classes DROP IN RATE: (per class) 45 minutes 1 hour class $20.00 1.25 hours to 1.75 hours $22.00 2.0 hours and up $25.00 Teen/Adult Open The School of the Sacramento Ballet s Teen/Adult Open Division class is for students age 14 to adult. Students use artistic expression along with a healthy dose of exercise for both the mind and body to promote better fitness and focus in their day to day lives. We offer each class at a drop in rate to accommodate busy schedules - only pay for the classes you attend. Beginning/Intermediate Adult Ballet: This class is for the adult student with little to no experience or for those who are returning to ballet. Suggested ballet class attire: fitted yoga style clothing or classical ballet attire and ballet shoes. Drop-In Rate: $20 Functional Fitness Session: September 22 October 27 All levels beginner to advanced. A fun functional fitness class that gets you moving while burning calories and toning. Kenya Runyan, a certified Cross Fit trainer and one of our ballet school moms, will teach the session. Suggested attire: Yoga style fitness clothing and supportive athletic shoes. 6 Week Session Price: $100 Drop-In Rate: $20 Advanced AM Ballet Session (Level 5-8) This is an advanced level ballet class, offered Monday, Wednesday & Friday, 9:00-11:00 AM. Students must enroll in the full session (no drop-in classes). If not a student of The School, a placement class is required prior to the first class. Fall Session (Sep. 21 - Oct. 30) $500 Spring Session (Jan. 25 - Mar. 18) $700 Both Sessions $1100 Sacramento Ballet Youth Ensemble (SBYE) SBYE is an ensemble of students that will represent The School of the Sacramento Ballet at Regional Dance America/Pacific (RDA). The ensemble is chosen by an audition process each Spring. Members must exhibit exemplary technique, artistry, attendance and positive attitude. Participation incurs additional expenses for each student above and beyond regular tuition, and each student must sign a yearly agreement.
