Maritime Mobile Service Identity by Bill Williams It seems that more people are receiving their Maritime Mobile Service Identity (MMSI) and programming them into their radios. This improves emergency response because your boats information is displayed automatically at the coast guard radio station when you use the emergency distress button on your radio. It can also make calling other boats easier. They will receive your call even if they have switched to a different frequency. The Yacht club has 031 600 055 as our group MMSI number. If you use it, all the club boats in range will receive a call. This is great if a group of boats are traveling together. With more club members acquiring MMSI numbers, the executive decided to offer a directory of member MMSI numbers. All those who would like to make their numbers available to fellow Campbell River Yacht Club members are asked to e-mail them to me Bill Williams at orwell33@telus.net. I will then create a directory and distribute it to the members who would like one. If you are looking for another boats number it is possible to find it on the Industry Canada web page. Dinghy For Sale Avon dinghy. 8'11"" made from Hypalon so it's rigid and durable. It has three marine grade removable wooden floor panels for easy storage below decks or in the garage. Mazatlan Mexico by Gary Wessel SV Seabear V Colleen and I have been on a one month sojourn to our home in Canada and have just returned to paradise. We had left the Seabear V at Mazatlan's Marina El Cid which fronts it's beautiful resort hotel c/w two pools, huge hot tub, beach palapas, various restaurants and bars - did I mention they provide us with beach towels and full usage of the facilities with our moorage which is currently about.66 cents a foot, make that $25.00 Cnd/day. Costs me $125.00 a week to drive my car around at home and it's now parked, how sweet is that!! We met many likeminded cruisers here during our two week stay before heading home. Sadly they have mostly moved on, but we are meeting new and will cross wakes with our recent found friends again. It's a small world out here. It's always been my philosophy to "party while you can!" so we shall party on. Page 8 of 10
