INTRODUCTION CHOKES Chokes. If you are in a life or death fight situation and you absolutely want to make sure that the fight will NOT continue, and that you will be the Winner, Choke Them Out! Nothing is more effective at ending a fight than an unconscious attacker. They might be bigger, they might be stronger, but if they are unconscious, they LOSE. I have used chokes in fights many many times and always with complete success. If you will practice the chokes in this book, learn them as well as you know a front kick, or reverse punch. You will be a much much better fighter and a much more secure fighter. A few words of caution chokes work, and you must practice them to the point of them actually starting to choke out your partner. DO no go too hard, but definitely do not go too easy. Your neck might be a little sore the next day, but you will be doing yourself and your partner a great service if you actually let them start choke you out, rather than just letting them start the choke, incorrectly and not really learn the proper way to apply the choke. I will be teaching GI chokes, and bare handed chokes. I prefer the bare handed chokes in the street for obvious reasons, but always practice the GI chokes very hard in class. You must be sure to drive the hand in deep for all GI chokes and lock the arms very tight on all barehanded choked. Special thanks to Master John Tidwell (4 th Dan Judo)or his expertise and help in writing this book 2

Thumb Out Label Choke Hold the side of the label with the left hand and place the right hand, with the thumb facing out deep into the gi. It is important that the thumb go Deep up the neck area. The further the better. Now cross the other hand under the right and deep into the other side of the neck. Finish by pushing out very hard with the elbows to choke the attacker out. This choke is very fast and very powerful. If you do it right. If you don t, they can counter. 3

Here is the same choke done from the Guard Position. You reach very deep under the label with the right hand, while holding the label open with the left. Finish by putting the left hand deep under the opposite side and leaning forward while pulling out with the elbows very hard. 4

Here the choke is being done from the bottom guard position. You can also lock the legs and be sure to pull up towards the neck. 5

Close up of the hand position 6

Here we see the choke reserved with the thumbs facing in. Be sure to Learn into the choke and hold the body very close while puling out On the elbows very hard. 7

Here we see a reverse choke. You clasp the hand together like you are praying, and lock the forearm against the Adams Apple. Now put the knee into the back and pull back very hard to effect the choke. Be sure to press the knee into the back and keep the head against his head, while pushing down and back with the arms to choke him out. 8

Here we reach under and around the right arm. Be sure to go very far into the neck and then reach up and wrap the arm into your right arm, while keeping his arm extended. Then drop to the ground and lock the leg over him while applying the choke. 9

Here we reach deep into the collar with the right hand, thumb facing in, then across with the other arm into the other side of the neck, to choke him standing up. 10

Here we start the choke by holding both arms onto the left lapel pulling him to the ground, then we quickly step around and flip the arms over the head, which effectively crosses the hands and locks the neck up. You finish him by squeezing the arms apart. 11

Here we do a front choke with the fist, by holding the left lapel out and then locking the right knuckles into the throat and pushing with the right, while pulling with the left. 12

Here we reach across the body and under the left arm to grab the right label, very high up into the neck. Then we reach across and over to grab the right arm. We finish the choke by holding the left arm tight against the neck while applying pressure with the right arm across the neck to finish him. 13

Here we apply a choke from the bottom by holding the right lapel very hard and tight. This is a GI choke. Keep the left arm locked under you choking arm, and pull back very hard to affect the choke, while applying pressure with the left arm. You can also lock the knee against the head to make the choke very painful. 14

Here we apply a sliding lapel choke. By reaching across the neck with the right arms, and digging the forearm into the throat. Hold the gi open to allow you to get deep with the choke. Now reach under the arm and grab the other lapel and choke him out by pulling across and back with the right arm and down with the left to stretch the gi and affect the choke. 15

Here is the basic military choke. Reach across the neck with the right arm and press the forearm hard into the neck, and hold the elbow of the left arm. Reach the left arm behind the head and press against the back of the head for pressure. Pull back with the right arm, forward with the left arm while pressing the body forward. 16

Here we do a side choke by reaching across the neck with the right arm, and then locking the hands together. The choked is affected by pulling across the side of the neck while pressing the body against his for power and to lock the choke in. Be sure to keep the body pressed hard into his for power. 17

Here we do a shuto choke, by placing the shuto hand into the front of the throat. Now reach across with the other hand and pull back against the throat. To affect the choke pull back with the left and right hand while pressing the body very hard against the back of his to hold him tight and choke him out. 18

Here is a 2 finger choke. You hold the neck open with the left hand under the chin to pull the neck back and expose the artery. To do the choke press the fingers directly into the artery to cut off the blood supply 19

Here is a thumb choke done to the same artery. Hold the neck to exposure the artery and press the thumb hard into to cut off the blood supply 20

Here we do a choke to the side of the neck, by reaching across with the hands and grasping them together. Now lean into the body and pull back while pressing hard into the neck to finish him. 21

Here we do a two finger choke by thrusting the two fingers hard into the throat and grab the Adams apple. You finish the choke by squeezing the fingers together and crushing the Adams Apple. You can get a deeper and more powerful penetration of the throat by thrusting the fingers into and squeezing after they are in, not by squeezing before they go in deep. 22

Here we hold the right arm hard into the lapel and press the knuckles across the side of the neck. Please see the close up. Push into the neck with the right hand and pull back with the left to choke him out. You can do this choke standing up or on the ground. 23

Here we wrap the arm over the head and around the neck. You get more power by holding the arm with the fingers for more pressure on the neck Finish the choke by leaning backwards and pulling up on the neck. You can do this standing up on your back. 24

Here we reach around the head for ahead lock and throw him to the ground, where we lock the choke in by holding the hands together while squeezing the neck and applying pressure with the body. You can also reach down and lock the arm under the front leg, to break it while you also choke him out. 25

Here is a teeth choke. You thrust the side of the hand into the teeth and pull back very hard. This will break open his mouth and tear his lips. 26

Here is choke against the neck and then you cup his mouth to slow his breathing. You can also completely cover his face with you forearm and stop his breathing. 27

Here is a suffocation choke, which we apply by reaching around the head and holding his face against your body. Lean into him and slowly squeeze. Now each time he takes a breath you squeeze again and hold tighter. He will run out of breath and you can finish him. 28

Here we press the fore knuckles against the throat while holding the GI with the same hand, and pulling hard on the left to force the hand deeper into the throat. 29

Here we do a forearm choke against the front of the neck. Press the side of the forearm into the front of the neck, and then reach under and grab the GI with the right arm. You finish the choke by pressing down with the right forearm and pulling up with the left arm. 30

Here we do a suffocation choke from the bottom. We reach up and over the head to lock it into our body and pull down hard, forcing his face against your chest and GI. Keep the pressure hard and hold him with the legs, as he breaths out, you squeeze again harder until he submits. 31

Here is the traditional front choke. Hold the sides of neck and press the thumbs into the Adams Apple. If you can get the Adams Apple crushed you will choke him out very quickly. 32

Here we do a wall choke by holding the right lapel and pressing the forearm hard against the throat, while pulling down on the GI for more pressure. 33

We can also do a side choke by locking his head and forcing his body against yours. Escape front a military choke. Hold the front arm to release the pressure, then drop to your knee and throw him over your body to the ground. 34

Here is an escape from a front choke. You put your left leg directly into his stomach and drop to the ground and throw him over your body to the ground. 35

Here we escape from a cross over choke by locking our legs around his body then bringing the leg up and across his face forcing him to the ground, where we can lock him out. 36

He we escape from a military choke, by forcing ourselves to the ground and pushing the head up into the arm and turning into the choke, Continue to roll towards the elbow and pull the head out, and escape and hold him in a side choke. 37

Here we escape from a side choke by pulling back across his face forcing him to lean backwards. You can finish him by lifting him off the ground and throwing him back down to break the choke and possibly is back. 38
