This may be extended to 2.5 million yles max. if only a part of the adjustment range is used (about 20%). 1 Intended ppliations... 2 2 Safety Instrutions... 2 Standards... 4 Warranty/Guaranty... 5 Installation/Commissioning... 4 6 Maintenane/Cleaning... 8 7 Tehnial Data... 8 Swith sensor life may also be effeted negatively by: Media not ompatible with the wetted materials. Too high swith yling speed or more than 20 yles per minute. System yling exeeding the top of the adjustable range. The proof must never be exeeded to avoid permanent sensor damage. Mathing the working range of the swith to the appliation is also a key for optimal swith performane. For greatest auray the set point should fall in the upper 70% of the adjustable range. For most favourable life the set point should be in the lower 0% of the adjustable range. Therefore, the most favourable ombination of auray and life fator lies between 0% and 70% of the adjustable range. 1 Intended ppliations The swithes are speifially applied for monitoring and ontrolling of operations using maximum and minimum s. miro swith triggers an eletrial signal when minimum or maximum are reahed. DNGER The swith may only be used in the speified fields of appliation (see type label). The temperature has to be within the speified ranges, the values and the eletrial rating must not exeed the values speified. Observe also the appliable national safety instrutions for assembly, ommissioning and operation of the swith. The swith is not designed to be used as the only safety relevant element in pressurized systems aording to DGR 97/2/EC. Without speial provisions/ations, swithes must not be used for pure hydrogen appliations. 2 Safety Instrutions The safety instrutions are intended to protet the user from dangerous situations and/or material damage. In the operating instrutions the seriousness of the potential risk is designated by the following signal words: DNGER Refers to imminent danger to men. Nonobservane may result in fatal injuries. WRNING Refers to important information essential to the user. Standards Disposal The equipment must be disposed of orretly in aordane with the loal regulations for eletri/eletroni equipment. The equipment must not be disposed of with the household garbage! The standards applied during development, manufature and onfiguration are listed in the CE onformity and manufaturer's delaration. 4 Warranty/Guaranty Warranty Our sope of delivery and servies is governed by the legal warranties and warranty periods. Terms of guaranty We guaranty for funtion and material of the single- / dual- swith under normal operating and maintenane onditions in aordane with the statutory provisions. Loss of guaranty The agreed guaranty period will expire in ase of: hanges or modifiations to the swith/housing/fitting inorret use, inorret installation or inorret handling or operation ontrary to the provisions of these operating instrutions. No liability is assumed for any damage resulting therefrom, or any onsequential damage. Refers to a reognizable danger. Nonobservane may result in fatal injuries, and destroy the equipment or plant parts. CUTION Refers to a danger. Nonobservane may result in light injuries and material damage to the equipment and/or to the plant. 2

5 Installation/Commissioning DNGER Only install or uninstall the swith when deenergized (eletrially and hydraulially/pneumatially). Pressure onnetion and eletrial onnetion must be arried out by trained or instruted personnel aording to state-of-the-art standards. The swith must only be installed in systems where the maximum P max is not exeeded (see type label). WRNING Contat Protetion The miro swithes used are normally suitable for both diret and alternating urrent operation. Indutive, apaitive and lamp loads may, however, onsiderably redue the life expetany of a miro swith and, under extreme irumstanes, even damage the ontats. Depending on the appliation spark suppression and urrent limiting is reommended (see sueeding figures). R1 C able R2 R R R Pressure peaks and shoks exeeding the maximum operating are inadmissible. The maximum operating is the upper final value of the adjustable range or, if speified, the indiated as maximum operating. Exeeding the max. operating affets the performane and the life span of the produt and may damage it. Install the swith as far as possible free from vibration, sine otherwise the swithing auray might be impaired. WRNING Fig. 1: Protetion in ase of apaitive loads R1: Protetion against starting urrent rushes R2,R: Protetion against high disharge urrents U = Fig. 2: Lamp load provided with resistane in parallel or series onnetion to swith of ondensators U Chek the swith regularly for funtioning. If the swith does not work properly, stop operation immediately! Diode R ll swithes are tested for proper funtioning before they leave the fatory. The fatory proof s are stated on the type label. Fig. : Protetion in ase of ontinuous urrent and indutive load by reovery diode Fig. 4: Protetion in ase of alternating urrent and indutive load by RC-link Set point adjustment Fatory-Provided: (temperature) swith point setting We onfirm for (temperature) swithes that have been fatory set the setting will be detailed on the label name plate. Warranty is not appliable for any hanges that may our due to transportation or installation. For ritial appliations we reommend the setting is heked and re-set if eessary after installation and wirding of the (temperature) swith. 4 5

In swithes, a displaement of the sensing element ours with a hange in. Following the displaement of the sensing element operates a miroswith. Upon delivery of the produt, the set points are likely to be found in the middle of the adjustable range. On request, fix set points may be adjusted by our fatory. In this event, the point will be indiated on the type plate or any separate plate, i = inreasing, d = dereasing. The set point is adjusted by turning the adjustment srew. To reah the adjustment srew for swithes with housing, remove the over. llow swith to reah the desired swith. Turn adjustment srew lokwise or ounterlokwise to atuate the miro swith. + Counterlokwise rotation: Clokwise rotation: set point inreasing set point dereasing Please onsult the wiring diagram for the ontat status at atmospheri (see Fig. 5). The BX version with an explosion-proof enlosure for Ex d appliations. The Bourdon tube swithes with T and X housing are approved for use in intrinsially safe iruits as Ex ia. The intrinsially safe units marked as Ex i must be operated with a ertified swith amplifier (see Fig. 6). The B1S/B2S swith has none of the aforementioned TEX approvals. BX swithes with explosion-proof enlosures are designed and ertified to be used aording to UL, CS, Nema 4, 7, 9 or TEX regulations. The wiring between swith and Ex i isolation amplifier must meet the loal safety requirements. The ustomer must provide for a highly ondutive onnetion between swith and grounding. 6 Maintenane/Cleaning Maintenane The swith is maintenane free. Cheking the set points lies within the disretion of the user. The usual preventive maintenane work in aordane with the PED and TEX guidelines must always be arried out. B1T 4 (1.4) 9 (0.5) 112 (4.41) 6 (1.42) Cable gland PG 1.5 (able diameter ø7...12 mm) (S version only) B2T Please note that small setpoint drifts may our during the initial use of the swith (run-in period). To minimize the setpoint drift we an perform a run-in (ageing) proess in our works on request. Larger or ontinuing setpoint drifts during the normal use of the swith may indiate that the measuring system is not used orretly within the speified limits, exeeding the design riteria or is worn-out. This might lead to metal fatigue of the measuring system and it therefore should be replaed before an ultimate rupture of the metal diaphragm might take plae.
