SECTION 2 ASSEMBLY SECTION 7 ACCESSORIES Step 1: Slide the ribbed disc over the footpad. Be sure it fits properly in the grooves provided. The fins or ribs must be pointing upwards. LARGE WHEEL DEFLECTOR Use when extra clearance needed at steps or other obstacles. Step 2: Note: Slide the Wheel Deflector over the extension pipe and secure between the two lowest pipe ridges. The Automatic Pool Cleaner comes with the Bumper Fin already fitted to help the machine avoid obstacles such as ladders and some steps. The additional deflector wheel can be used for extra clearance at steps or other obstacles. If the wheel is fitted, the Bumper Fin (as shown on page 14) should be removed first, otherwise the wheel deflector will not turn freely. 4 13

SECTION 6 CARE & MAINTENANCE SECTION 3 INSTALLATION Sunlight (ultraviolet rays), water and swimming pool chemicals create a harsh environment. To increase the lifespan of the Automatic Pool Cleaner and hose, you should: 1. Remove the Automatic Pool Cleaner from the pool before super chlorinating and reinstall it a minimum of four hours later. 2. Always store the hose straight, or in its original box. NEVER coil the hose. (Coiled hose can be straightened with hot water or by laying it on a warm pool deck for several hours.) Insert the leader hose adaptor into one of the hoses to act as the leader hose. Fit the hose weight to the first hose length. If you require a second hose weight, it must be positioned at least 2 metres from the first hose weight. Assemble the hose to the correct length (Fig. 4/5). Now fit the hose protector mesh to the skimmer end of the hose. NOTE: Attach the leader hose (Fig.3) to the Automatic Pool Cleaner head and the other end of the hose to the connection point in your pool. Fig. 2 Pink Hose Adaptor Fig. 1 Hose weight Fig. 3 Use enough hose sections to reach the farthest point in the pool, plus one (1) section. 3. Periodically inspect parts for wear. The Flexi Foot and Disc are the most critical. When the depth of the channels between the treads of the Fixed Disc are 3mm or less, replace the Finned Disc. 4. If you should develop an algae or chemical imbalance problem, remove the Cleaner following the advice of a qualified pool professional, and reinstall the Cleaner when the imbalance is corrected. 5. ALWAYS disconnect the hose from the skimmer or vacuum line BEFORE backwashing your filter. Fig. 4 Fig. 5 12 5

SECTION 3 INSTALLATION SECTION 5 ADJUSTMENTS & TROUBLESHOOTING Step 2: Step 3: Put wheel deflector on outer extension pipe of Automatic Pool Cleaner. RETURN INLET SKIMMER MAIN DRAIN RETURN INLET Fill the hose with water by placing the end over a return inlet. A. REMOVAL OF DIAPHRAGM ASSEMBLY 1. Remove the Wheel Deflector from the Outer Extension Pipe. 2. Loosen the Handnut by turning it counter clockwise at least one (1) full turn. Do not remove the Handnut completely. 3. Turn the unit over and grasp the Diaphragm by the flange. Pull the Diaphragm/ Inner Extension Pipe assembly out of the Inner Body. B. EXAMINATION 1. Examine the Diaphragm for damage or blockage. 2. If damage exists, take the complete Automatic Pool Cleaner head to a pool professional for replacement of the diaphragm. 3. If no damage exists, re-assemble the unit. The Diaphragm self adjusts on re-installation. C. RE-ASSEMBLY 1. Slide the Diaphragm/Inner Extension Pipe assembly into the bottom of the Inner Body and continue until the Diaphragm is set flush into the inlet plate. The flange of the Diaphragm should sit within its matching receptacle. 2.Turn the unit over and tighten the Handnut by turning clockwise until it stops. Do not over tighten! Hand tight is sufficient. If the Outer Extension Pipe will not spin, loosen the Handnut, spin the Outer Extension Pipe and retighten the Handnut. 3. Re-install the Wheel Deflector. OUTER EXTENSION PIPE HANDNUT INNER BODY INLET PLATE Reinstall the Automatic Pool Cleaner, turn the pump on. Check the following: a.) Tightness of fit at installation point. RETAINING RING b.) Possible stuck valves. c.) Debris blocking lines. INNER EXTENSION PIPE DIAPHRAGM d.) Pump impeller. FLANGE Step 4: With the weighted hose end in the pool, cover the other end (the end with the proctector mesh) tightly with your hand. Move to the skimmer and attach this hose end to the regulator the AD Flow Valve. e.) Addition of solar or other charge in filtration system adversely affecting flow. PULL 6 11

SECTION 5 ADJUSTMENTS & TROUBLESHOOTING SECTION 4 AD FLOW VALVE SYMPTOM 1. Cleaner is patterning. PROCEDURE Be certain that return inlet flow has been diverted as noted in "Prepare Pool and Filtration System" make sure hose does not have a memory from being coiled. Add one or two hose lengths. AD FLOW VALVE The use of the Zodiac AD Flow Valve is recommended on pools with only one skimmer box/suction point, or when the filtration system needs to be used but the pool cleaner does not, such as when people are swimming in the pool. It regulates the flow of water to the pump through the pool cleaner.as the filter collects debris, the valve automatically maintains the correct flow to the cleaner. For installation of the AD Flow Valve see below: 2. Cleaner is not covering the shallow end. Divert return inlets, check hose length, check for hose coil memory, increase flow, or add second hose weight. AD Flow Valve 1. STEP 1: Screw the AD Flow Valve Connector into the Vacuum Plate or use Weir Cuff. 3. Sticking at the steps. Utilise return flow as shown in "Coverage" section. Use large Wheel Deflector or the Weighted Spur. AD Flow Valve Connector 2. 3. DESCRIPTION 1.AD Flow Valve 2. Universal Weir Cuff 3. Hose Protector Mesh STEP 2: STEP 3: Insert the AD Flow Valve into the AD Flow Valve Connector. Connect the AD Flow Valve into the hose. 4. Sticking at the side of stainless steel ladder. Reduce suction. For connection of the AD Flow Connector into a non standard skimmer plate see below: Waterco Skimmer Box = Screw in the AD Flow Valve connector from the top of the skimmer plate. Poolrite Skimmer Box = Screw in the AD Flow Valve connector from the bottom of the skimmer plate. 5. Flips upside down. Replace Float. Pool Rite Skimmer Plate Waterco Skimmer Plate 6. Cleaner not climbing walls. Increase water flow by adjusting the AD Flow Valve. Machine may not climb the sidewalls of some vinyl pools or pools with safety ledges. 7. Cleaner does not move (or runs and stops). 8. Solar blanket installation Clean filter, skimmer and pump baskets to increase the water flow of the filtration system. Check water flow. Turn filter system off. Remove head from hose, turn it upside down and inspect for debris blocking the diaphragm.the Automatic Pool Cleaner is equipped with the latest innovation, the new Tech Free Flow Systems. NOTE: In cold water 15 C or less, water flow through the Automatic Pool Cleaner must be increased to compensate for the reduced flexibility of the hose and diaphragm. Coverage may vary or be limited due to friction between the hose and the blanket. (not recommended) If you do not have a Waterco or Poolrite Skimmer Plate then insert the AD Flow Valve into the Weir Cuff. The AD Flow Valve comes preset at a factory setting of 2 to obtain maximum pool cleaning efficiency. If your water flow requires a higher or lower setting, you can adjust the valve to one of three settings: High (Setting 3), Medium (Setting 2) or Low (Setting 1). You will only need to adjust the AD Flow Valve when the following occurs: PROBLEM The Cleaner is performing too fast and/or climbing above the level of the water. The Cleaner is performing slowly and/or is not climbing the pool walls. SOLUTION Reduce AD Flow Valve to Setting 1 Increase AD Flow Valve to Setting 3 10 7

SECTION 5 ADJUSTMENTS & TROUBLESHOOTING SECTION 5 ADJUSTMENTS & TROUBLESHOOTING CORRECT BALANCING An additional hose weight (Part No. M15) may be necessary to balance the cleaner head in pools deeper than 2.2m (7 1/4 feet).with the cleaner positioned in the deep end of the pool and the filter system turned OFF, position the second hose weight away from the cleaner head to achieve a straight hose for the first 1 1/2 to 2 sections. POOL COVERAGE Normally it is undesirable for the return line water flow to affect the natural movement of the hose. However, the following illustrations show how return line pressure can be used to balance cleaning coverage or to guide the cleaner away from step areas with "V" shaped corners. A return line located anywhere along the shaded area can be utilised to elongate excess hose to "balance" pool coverage. Aim directional toward this area Diagram 6: Positioning of the hose weight A return line located anywhere along the shaded area can be utilised to gently push the hose allowing it to free itself from in-pool obstacles. Flow and climb Technique Position the return line directional so that you can only detect water movement on the surface approximately 8 feet out from the wall, and aim it at the centre of the opposite wall. OBSTACLES Use the wheel deflector or the bumper fin to help the machine to avoid/release from pool obstacles. DO not use both together as the wheel will not turn if used with fin. Cross Section 8 9
