Rotary and Thompson Memorial Park 200 West I Street 2.5 Acres with a baseball diamond, playground, swings and picnic area. A joint project between Jerome Recreation District and the Jerome Rotary Club donated by Mr. and Mrs. Kurt Thompson. Candlelight Park 1200 South Davis 2 acres with a playground, basketball court, sand volleyball court and picnic area. Spears Park @ Jerome Recreation District 2032 South Lincoln A 7 acre park with a sand volleyball court, horseshoe pit, playground, two baseball fields, four covered picnic shelters and an outdoor swimming pool that can be rented with or without the park. Becker Park North Tiger Drive is the home of this future park Land donated by Dr. David Becker and family Bike Path A two mile asphalt path that is open to the public for walking, jogging, rollerblading and biking. The path runs from the corner of 20th Street south along Tiger Drive to 100 South and west to South Lincoln.

SWIMMING ACTIVITIES Swim Team Join us for a summer of improving your strokes, learning competitive swimming techniques, and competing against other community teams. Participants need to be able to swim the full length of the pool. Water Aerobics Join us for some fun in the sun and the water this summer. Water aerobics provides an aerobic workout with less stress on the joints. Water shoes are recommended. JRD Dance Classes SWIMMING INFORMATION FREE SWIM DAY : THURSDAY, MAY 25, 2017 1-4 PM Now Enrolling 5:30-6:15pm (ages 3-5) Creative Dance: Fun exercises to stretch and learn dance basics (sense of movement, spatial awareness, rhythm) for tiny toes. Class will end with a fun round of improv/freestyle! 6:15-7:00pm (ages 6-8) Jazz Fusion I: Basic jazz technique, flexibility, and conditioning. Cultivate stage presence and creativity. Class ends with a fun combination fusing jazz and funk/hip-hop, building on the combination from the previous week. 7:00-7:45pm (ages 9 and up) Jazz Fusion II: Progressively higher level of difficulty than Jazz Fusion I with emphasis on attention to detail in choreography and synchronization. Class structure for ages 6 and older classes is a 10 minute warm-up and stretch, 15 minutes of center/floor work, and 20 minutes of choreography. Swimming Summer 2017 CO-ED SOFTBALL LEAGUE 16 YEARS AND UP FEE: are $30 per session per child / $40 for out of district - NO refunds for missed or cancelled lessons Lesson Information: progress from the Tadpole level to the Shark level. Sessions are two weeks long and consist of eight 40 minute lessons running Monday Thursday. All JRD swim instructors are certified. Team rosters and fees are due by May 15, 2017 or until league fills. Games start June 8, 2017 Games are Thursdays at 6:30, 7:45 or 9:00 pm Forsyth Park $575 / 12 games Tadpoles: This level is for parents and their children ages 6 months to 3 years old. There must be at least one parent per child. This class provides parents with some basic techniques for teaching their infants water adjustment and early swimming skills. This is a great opportunity for young ones to explore and become familiar with the water. Minnows: This level is designed for children ages 3 or 4 that are having their first swimming lesson experience. Children will begin with water adjustment and progress at the child s pace. It is possible to develop a beginner s front stroke and backstroke at this level. Guppies: This level is aimed towards children ages 4 or 5 who have completed the Minnows class or who are ready for the Goldfish class but are not tall enough. This class combines water exploration and primary swimming skills in a water level where children can touch. Goldfish: In this class children are taught the fundamental skill of swimming such as floating without support. They also begin to add arm and leg actions of swimming and slowly try to combine the tasks and turn them into one. In addition, they will learn basic personal safety skills. Your child must be able to stand with their head above water in 3 to 3 1/2 feet of water. Sea Horses: In this class children will coordinate the leg and arm actions of both the front and back crawl. They are also introduced to the elementary backstroke and basic diving skills. They are also taught additional safety skills. Swordfish: In this class students develop confidence in the strokes that they have learned and improve on other aquatic skills. This is an endurance class and the children should begin to perfect their skills. They are introduced to the breaststroke, sidestroke, and open turns. Dolphins: The emphasis in this level is stroke coordination and refinement. Children will continue to strengthen their endurance. Students are introduced to the butterfly, racing starts & turns, surface dives, and diving from the diving board. Sharks: This level s skill is varied depending on the students in the class. The main focus is to refine and polish the student s strokes so that they can swim with ease over a great distance. This class also focuses on good fitness habits. Additionally, springboard diving skills are taught along with advance safety and rescue skills. Private lessons are available @ $15 per 1/2 hour session see the pool manager for schedule. CO-ED ONE PITCH SOFTBALL LEAGUE 16 YEARS AND UP Team fees are due by August 13, 2017 or until leagues fill. No rosters. Everyone participating needs to sign a liability waiver. JRD requires volunteer coaches to have background checks. This is a vital part of offering safe recreational programs to the children of the community and surrounding areas. Early Registration-Thursday, May 11, 2017(6AM) NO REFUNDS will be given for any lessons missed, forgotten, and or skipped. JRD Annual Events December 16th 2017 Jingle Bell Fun Run/Walk (5K) Time: 8:00am Cost: $20 a person or $60.00 (Family of 4) Location and Course: Starts at the JRD and follows the bike path around to H street, down to Lincoln Ave and back to the JRD. The Jingle Bell Run is one of the most spirited fun runs we have. The Jingle Bell Run is a fun and festive holiday themed 5K. Get in the spirit on race day by wearing holiday themed ugly sweaters and tying jingle bells to your running shoes. Register by Monday December 12th to be guaranteed a shirt on race day. March 11th, 2018 JRD Neon Night Run (5K) Time: 7:45pm Cost: Individuals-$25.00 if pre-register by March 3rd & $80.00 (Family of 4) Location and Course: Starts at the JRD and follows the bike path around to H street then turns around to return same way back. Jerome Recreation District Parks Reservation Information Jerome Recreation District Picnic Shelters and Forsyth Picnic Shelters are available throughout the Spring, Summer and Fall for birthday parties, family reunions, and company picnics. March 20-23 2018 Zombie Survival Camp (Spring Break Week) Time: 1:00pm-4:00pm Cost: $60 per camper Location and Details: Becker Park and Spears Park. JRD invites adventurous kid s ages 8-12 years to take part in a unique spring break camp. Participants will build a shelter, live off the land, find their way into the wilderness and assemble the necessary tools in order to survive. Camp will be limited to 20 participants, so don't delay in registering. Private Pool Rentals A great idea for birthday parties or family gatherings!! Reservation must be made at least 3 days ahead of time. Time: Twilight Hunt:7:30 pm / Flashlight Hunt:8:15pm Cost: $5 a child / $14 Family (4) & $3 for each additional child Location and Details: Bring your family, flashlights, and Easter baskets or bags to the Jerome Recreation District (the park behind the JRD) to search for eggs filled with candy and gifts. For ages 2-12 yrs old. Come enjoy popcorn and games before the hunt starts. 1ST Annual JRD Mother-Daughter August 26th 2017 Drool in the Pool Time: Call to reserve a time! 3:00pm-4:00pm 4:00pm-5:00pm 5:00pm-6:00pm 6:00pm-7:00pm Location and Details: The pool is closed for the season so bring your four-legged friend to the JRD pool for a refreshing swim! Dog guards will be on duty. All leashed, wellbehaved dogs are welcome. Humans will not be allowed to swim, during this time. Dogs are to be at least six months of age and provide proof of a vet showing their dog s current rabies vaccination (rabies certificate) to attend. No dogs in season, please. September 22, 2017 Men s Night Out Time: 5:00pm-9:00pm Location: Jerome Recreation District Cost:$10 a vendor Winner will receive a cash prize and the honor of being the King of BBQ. May 13th 2017 Mother Daughter (5K) Cost: $20 and must pre register by May 5th to guarantee a shirt on race day. Details: Registration includes shirt, finishing charm and free photo downloads of any photo we take. If your daughter is 9 years of age or younger, they run free and will need to register but they must participate either as a runner, carried or pushed in a stroller. If 10 or older they must be registered. November 23rd 2017 Thanksgiving Turkey Trot (5K) Time: 8:00am Cost: 5 cans of food or gently used coat Location and course: Starts at the JRD and follows the bike path around to H street, down to Lincoln Ave and back to the JRD.
