INTRODUCTION Welcome to Crankworx! This Technical Guide covers the relevant rules and procedures for the Crankworx Rotorua Downhill to be held on Sunday March 25 th 2018. In case of a divergence between the information found within this Technical Guide and information concerning these events found anywhere else (e.g. the internet), this Technical Guide shall be considered correct. SANCTIONING The Crankworx Rotorua Downhill event is sanctioned as a Class 1 event. The Cycling New Zealand and UCI rules shall apply. RACE CATEGORIES UCI Class 1 Categories GROUP A MEN Elite WOMEN Elite MEN Junior 17-18* [2000-2001] WOMEN Junior 17-18* [2000-2001] Amateur Categories - GROUP B MEN Youth 15-16 [2002-2003]** WOMEN Youth 15-16 [2002-2003]** MEN Senior 19-29 [1999-1989] WOMEN Senior 19+ [1999+] MEN Master 30-39 [1988-1979] MEN Veteran 40+ [1978+] *Junior & Elite Categories will be combined for UCI Points & Elite Prize Money. Separate podiums will be held for Junior & Elite categories **Minimum age 15 [year of birth 2003]. Upon application and approval, experienced 13-14 riders may be permitted to register in the Youth category. Race Category Eligibility (Age and Gender) for all Crankworx events will be determined by the athletes Cycling NZ or UCI license. For Athletes who do not possess a Cycling NZ or UCI license, and do not require one for any of the races in which they are entered, Race Category Eligibility (Age and Gender) will be determined by the athletes Birth Certificate or Passport. Athletes may be required to provide evidence at the point of athlete registration or accreditation (at the discretion of the Athlete Manager or Event Director). REGISTRATION Advance online registration mandatory no onsite registration will be offered. Entry Fees: $127.44 Licensed Racers $139.64 Non-licensed Racers (includes taxes and system processing fees). Entry fee covers includes shuttle access for course walk, official practice sessions and competition. Entry fee also includes Athlete Accreditation which allows general admission to the Skyline venue for the duration of Crankworx. Refund Policy: Refund (subject to an administrative fee) available if cancellation request submitted before March 19, 15h00 NZDT. No refunds once a rider has collected their plate, even in the case of injury or mechanical problems. RACE LICENSES Competitors in the Crankworx Rotorua Downhill will need to have either a UCI license issued by their national federation or purchase a 1 event Cycling NZ license (not available for foreign competitors). Only riders with UCI Elite licenses can register in the Elite category. ( CEI ), the event organizers of each event, and their respective affiliates, sponsors, promoters, advertisers, broadcasters, webcasters, contractors, agents, representatives, licensees and assigns (together, the Releasees all the necessary authority, right and license and permission to use photographs, audio or video recordings, or other forms of recordings that capture my image, likeness, voice or performance (or all of these) (collectively hereinafter referred to as Images ), in which I may be included in whole or in part, in any manner or media, including print, broadcast, internet media, direct marketing channels, downloadable content and applications, and all other technologies now known or hereafter developed. The Images may be used or exploited for any commercial or non-commercial purpose whatsoever, and may be altered, modified, changed, combined or incorporated into other works. I hereby relinquish any rights I may have in the Images (including privacy, personality and publicity rights). No fees or other compensation whatsoever will be provided to me for or in connection with the use of the Images. I hereby release the Releasees from any and all claims which I may now or in the future have relating to the ownership, reproductions, display, distribution or other use of the Images. EVENT LOCATION The DH event will be held across two properties spanning from Ngati Whakaue Tribal Lands to Skyline Rotorua Bike Park in Rotorua, NZ. SKYLINE VENUE ACCESS / ACCREDITATION All registered racers will be issued Athlete Accreditation that will be valid for general admission to the Skyline venue for the duration of Crankworx as well as early access if required for any official practice / race. If you have friends and family that want to come watch you compete, or team managers, mechanics, coaches, parents that will be supporting you during the training sessions / race, they will need tickets to access to the Skyline venue. Tickets / passes can be purchased onsite or online at http://www.crankworx.com/rotorua/tickets/. General admission to the Skyline venue starts at 10am. All supporters (coaches, mechanics, parents,..) will also need to purchase general access tickets. Athlete Support accreditation for will be available from the Athlete Registration office for any supporters that need to access the venue for the early training sessions.

PARKING Athlete parking for the DH event will be available at the Rowi Street Reserve and along Kawaha Point Road on a firstcome first-served basis. Parking in the team pits must be pre booked. SHUTTLES Shuttles will depart from the shuttle pick up periodically throughout each training and racing days, with the first departing 30 min prior to the start of each session. To access shuttles, riders will need their athlete accreditation passes as well as their bikes fitted with race plates. RACE FORMAT Crankworx Downhill races will use a Finals only format no seeding run. Start order / seeding for the Elite and Junior categories will be based on a combination of UCI rank and Crankworx World Tour DH Series rankings. Start list will be published by 7pm, Saturday March 24. TRAINING There is a mandatory training requirement for the event. Minimum 2 training runs must be completed during the March 22-24 training sessions. Riders who have not completed the training runs during the March 22-24 training sessions will not be included on the Start List. Riders must start all training runs at the official start gate. FIRST AID / EMERGENCY MEDICAL Emergency Dispatch: Peak Management +64 (0) 21 555 904 or +64 (0) 21 385 623 First aid personnel will also be available in the Medic tent located the bottom of the DH course in the Event arena. The First Response Team (Medics) will have radio contact with on-course marshals and the race manager for the duration of training and race sessions. In the case of an emergency the nearest hospital is: Rotorua Hospital Arawa St, Rotorua 3010 First Response and Medical Services at Crankworx Rotorua is provided in partnership with Peak Safety Management. Crankworx Rotorua and Peak Safety align their practice with nationally recognised guidelines in the area of head injuries. This includes assessing athletes course-side for suspected concussions, according to the MTBNZ Concussion Awareness Policy, if they are aware that a head trauma has taken place during training or competition. If athletes are assessed with suspected symptoms of concussion, Peak Safety will seek further assessment from a qualified medical doctor before returning the athlete to competition and/or training. INSURANCE All athletes are covered by New Zealand s public insurance company Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) for treatment for injuries sustained while in New Zealand. Details at http://www.acc.co.nz ACC does not cover treatment if an injured person leaves New Zealand and therefore is not a replacement for an individual s travel insurance. RULES By registering for this event, racers agree to follow and be bound by the rules and procedures outlined in the Technical Guide, and also agree to follow the rules of the International Cycling Union (UCI), Cycling New Zealand, Crankworx Rotorua. Likewise, the policies, rules and procedures of the Skyline Rotorua Bike Park apply when participating on Skyline Rotorua Property. RACE PLATES Only riders with race plates will be permitted on course during official training. Altering, cutting or placing of unauthorized sponsors logos on race plate will result in a fine and/or disqualification. This includes writing on the race plate with a marker. ALCOHOL Any racer caught drinking alcohol during the race will be disqualified from the race. Riders may also be suspended from further Crankworx Whistler competition and may face further penalties on the Crankworx World Tour. COURSE ETIQUETTE A rider must act in a sporting manner at all times and must permit any faster rider to overtake without obstructing. RE-ENTERING COURSE If a rider exits the course for any reason, he/she must return to the course at the same point from which he/she exited. RE-RUNS Re-runs, when a rider is permitted to do an additional timed run, will only be granted for those riders who are already on course when a medical or other course hold occurs. These riders must report to the official at the finish line to request the re-run. Re-runs will not be granted to faster riders blocked by slower riders. Slower riders are expected to yield to faster riders. MISSED OR LATE STARTS Racers arriving late for their scheduled start should report to the Start Referee who will determine if the racer will be permitted to start at a later time. The top 5 Elite women and 25 Elite men will have fixed start times. No late racer will be inserted into the start order once this group has started. TIMING PROTESTS Protests concerning the result or conduct of an event must be made within 15 minutes of the unofficial announcement of the result of the event (or category). If no protest is made, the results become official. RIDER PROTECTION Racers in the Crankworx Rotorua Downhill will also be subject to other mandatory protection requirements as per Cycling NZ Rules https://www.cyclingnewzealand.nz/media/1709/1709.pdf Ages 17+: Single construction full face type is compulsory Either knee and elbow protection and/or long sleeve jerseys and/or pants is compulsory. Spinal/shoulder protection, neck brace and full finger gloves highly recommended.

Ages 16 and under: Compulsory: -Single construction full face type -Neck brace -Elbow -Knee/Shin Spinal/shoulder protection and full finger gloves highly recommended PRIZE MONEY UCI points and prize money shall be awarded for Men Elite* & Women Elite* (17+) categories as per the UCI Regulations for Class 1 (DHI) International events; likewise, the competitions for these categories will be conducted under the UCI regulations. *Note: For International Class 1,2,3 and DH events, Junior (17-18) riders considered to be Elite for the purposes of races. Even though separate Junior Men and Junior Women categories and podiums are held for the Crankworx Rotorua DH, the results are combined with those of the Elite category before they are sent to the UCI. Also, the prize money scale is likewise combined. So, for example, if the 3rd place rider in the combined results is a junior, then that rider will receive 3rd place Elite prize money and 3rd place UCI points.
