Winter 2015 TU-CUBIN-NOONIE LODGE #508 Utah National Parks Council Boy Scouts of America 2748 N. 1340 W. Orem, UT 84057 10

Some Prices: Winter, 2015 Chenille Patch $35.00 Teepee Week Centerpiece Feathers for Teepee Week Set $12.00 $6.00 Jacket Vigil Reunion Patch $15.00 Vigil Reunion Felt Patch $10.00 Jacket Vigil Reunion Patch Vigil Reunion Felt Patch Lodge conference was a great experience. We learned many things in the classes. Several of the things we learned about were effective speaking and listening, our roles in the lodge, and symbols of the pre-ordeal and ordeal. We also had the chance to be taught some basic concepts for native American Pow-Wows. Thomas Murdock, former lodge chief, gave a speech before relinquishing the role of lodge chief. His primary goal at the start of his two years as lodge chief was to increase brotherhood in the lodge. He said that "I have found the arrow and fulfilled my mission and purpose as lodge chief." He also gave some examples of how he has exemplified brotherhood, cheerfulness, and service. We had the chance to serve by going to a care center and singing for the elderly. It felt good to serve the elderly. Teepee Week Set 2 Chenille Patch Arrow Tour is one of the 100th Anniversary celebrations of the Order of the Arrow, and is designed to bring the National celebration to the 170,000 Arrowmen that will not be able to attend NOAC, as well as other Scouts and Scouters who want to know what the order is about. We will have a Ga-Ga pit and other games to play and a trading post with all kinds of OA centennial merchandise. There will be silk screening and branding so bring items to affix the Arrow Tour logo to such as belts, wallets, and boots. All camp activities, including Climbing Wall, Cope Corse, Chess, Nature Hike and Shooting Sports will be available for participants. (Some Shooting Sports will have a small fee.) It will be at Maple Dell up Payson Canyon on the 22 nd of June from 2-7 PM. We also need support staff to help so if you are available and would like to help for a few hours email sdhamaker@gmail.com. 9

I am happy to be the one to welcome everyone into the 100 th anniversary of the Order of the Arrow. We already have so many great things planned for this year. With Arrow Tour, Tepee week, Section Conclave, NO- AC and many other events, I am sure this is going to be a great year. If you have been online lately you can probably tell that we are keeping everything much more updated on the website. We will be constantly adding registrations for fellowships (Ordeals and Brotherhoods). New resources for chapter s use will be added as they become available to make anything from elections to eagle ceremonies become easier. I look forward to meeting each and every one of those out there that I don t know and I can t wait to see old faces that I will never forget. Yours in Brotherhood, Connor Creighton Looking for an Ordeal Date? Here`s a few options: 1. Hotametaneo'o - May 8-9 October 9-10 2. Pach Qu Oon Quip - March 13-14 ***Please let the Lodge know if your chapter is planning an Ordeal. 8 At our recent Lodge Conference and Lodge leadership meeting, the option was brought up of giving new members a view of what the Order of the Arrow is like before requiring them to pay dues. This proposal states that the best way to do this is to make the price to join be $18, which would pay for the year that they are inducted as well as the following year. For example, if Paul just went through his ordeal on February 28, 2015, his next dues wouldn`t be due until 2017. The proposal also states that the cost for dues for youth (under the age of 18) will be $10 and the price for adults will be $16. The final vote on this proposal will be in at the next LLC meeting which will be held during Section Conclave. Currently dues are $12.00 for everybody. If you get your dues paid by April 1st, you will receive a 100th Anniversary Patch along with your membership card. You have been an inspiration in my life. Having worked in the Tu-Cubin-Noonie Lodge as a Chapter Secretary, Chapter Vice Chief, Chapter Chief, Lodge Chief, Assistant Lodge Advisor, Lodge Staff Advisor and most recently as Lodge Advisor, I have come to understand the true meaning of the watch words of our Order: Wimachtendien, Wingolauchsik and Witahemui. Ours is truly a Brotherhood of Cheerful Service. Although I enjoy and continue to look forward to serving each of you in the future, I have found that it is time to give someone else the opportunity to serve as Lodge Advisor. Just prior to the first of the year, I had the opportunity, along with Dave Pack (Council Executive and Supreme Chief of the Fire ), to visit with Mike Keller from Price, Utah and to extend the opportunity to him to serve as Lodge advisor beginning September 1 st, 2015. Mike and I will work together over the next few months to assure a smooth transition and to coach our Lodge Officers in their many responsibilities on the Lodge level, Section level and to ensure that our Lodge s contingent to the National Order of the Arrow Conference in Michigan this August is successful. Please join with me in welcoming Mike as he prepares to assume his responsibilities as the Lodge Advisor of the Tu-Cubin-Noonie Lodge. Yours always in Brotherhood WWW Jack L.
