We are so happy to have her as our new neighbor. The Birth of the Jack O Lantern Have you ever wondered how the practice of turning a pumpkin into a scary jack-o -lantern started? Here s the story: Jack-o -lantern sounds Irish because it is. The flickering, carved pumpkin faces that animate the American Halloween derive from an old Irish custom of creating rustic lanterns from vegetables. The Irish child s typical Halloween flashlight was a hollowed-out turnip Sagora Senior Games or potato with a candle inside. When the Irish landed in America in the nineteenth century, they were quick to spot the possibilities in the pumpkin, and a new tradition was born. Happy We will be celebrating our annual Sagora Games in October this year, with a Fall theme. We hope that everyone, including families and friends will join us. We have some competitive people at our community, when it comes to games. Here is a list of the dates and games. They will also be listed on the AL Activity Calendar. All games will be held at 2:30pm. We hope to see you there! 10/22 Opening Ceremony - Scarecrow Scavenger Hunt 10/23 Pumpkin Bowling 10/24 Ghost Scramble & Spider Toss 10/25 Candy Bucket Throw with the Mom's of Murphy Club and their children will be joining us. 10/26 Crazy Eyeball Toss 10/29 Pumpkin Putt Putt 10/30 Candy Corn Rattle 10/31 Witches Ball - Witches Costume Contest 11/01 Harvest Moon Volleyball 11/02 Closing Medals Ceremony & Refreshments Memory Care Out and About Our Memory Care Family had a very busy September!! Memory Care Spotlight "Betty McGregor" Loving Life at Lynridge A Walk in a Missionaries Shoes Growing up in Tripoli Iowa I was always surrounded by small town charm, love, and a relationship with my Lord and Savior Jesus. I was raised in a time where church was not just a habit, but part of our existence. My family always made time for church. The only time we as kids were ever able to miss church was if we were running at both ends, if you know what I mean. Or if we were almost at deaths door then momma would pray non stop for healing and Jesus always answered my mommas prayers. Time passed and I married and had three beautiful daughters whom I am so proud of and also was a English teach for 10 years. But during this time, It was pressed upon my heart to be very involved in Missionary Work and to preach and teach what I had grown up on to people in all situations good and bad. I still love to preach God s word and do our devotion time with the other residents that live in my neighborhood. I also pray and thank God for the wonderful staff that help me daily! Im a bit older now and God has seen fit to let others do unto me as I had done unto them!! Giving out lots of unconditional love!!
