THE BOSTON BRUINS WEEK AHEAD OCTOBER 14 OCTOBER 21 THIS WEEK S NEWS, NOTES AND NUMBERS: UPCOMING GAME SCHEDULE: The last two Stanley Cup champions will tangle in Chicago on Saturday when the Bruins visit the Blackhawks at the United Center (8:30 p.m. ET, TV: NESN, RADIO: 98.5 The Sports Hub). The B s are coming off a 3-2 loss to the Hurricanes on Wednesday while the Hawks prevailed in their last contest against the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday, 4-3. Next week, the Bruins will return to Boston for a four-game homestand that starts on Tuesday. They will host the Hurricanes (Tuesday, Oct. 18), Leafs (Thursday, Oct. 20), Sharks (Saturday, Oct. 22) and Canadiens (Thursday, Oct. 27) during this stretch. ON THE MEND: Bruins forward David Krejci did not join the team in Chicago and has been ruled out for Saturday s tilt. He remains day-to-day with a core injury. Adam McQuaid who left in the third period of the Bruins/Canes game after colliding with the end boards is also listed as day-to-day. In his update to media on Friday afternoon, Claude Julien said McQuaid is experiencing headaches and neck pain and that team is being cautious with him. Julien also informed the media that Steve Kampfer (knee) has resumed skating back in Boston and will likely join the team for practice next week. HOCKEY FIGHTS CANCER: The B s will support the NHL s Hockey Fights Cancer initiative a variety of ways before, during and after their game against the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday, October 18 at the TD Garden. Members of the Bruins management team, coaching staff and players will be supporting the initiative by wearing special attire and decals on their equipment. In addition, children currently undergoing treatment at hospitals throughout Boston will be in attendance at the game and will participate in a variety of activities throughout the evening. The activities will include Zamboni rides, a chance to watch warm-ups from the Bruins bench and an opportunity to greet the team as they head out of the locker room to take the ice for the game. All in-game fundraising activities, as well as, proceeds from the 50/50 raffle will benefit The Cam Neely Foundation for Cancer Care.
