News Around The Club... Dear Legend Oaks Members and Families, Welcome to the tenth digital edition of 2018, Club News As we move into Fall, we had a busy September planned and then came Hurricane Florence, which led to the HurCation! We honored the evacuation order and shut the club for five days. We did have a great US Open Tennis Social before the storm and after it passed, we started the afterschool tennis program under the leadership of Daniel Harden, our new Director of Tennis and Aquatics. We also have a new Junior League started on the golf side lead by both our Head Pro Neil and Assistant Pro Jack. It has been great to see so many young new golfers! Several of the events planned for September have been postponed, including the Legend Oaks Gives Back event. It will now be held November 3 rd, so you can still sign up with your foursome. Please check the calendar for the most up to date event dates and times. As the temperatures drop the activity picks up with both outside events and club events. We appreciate your understanding of these events and do try to keep them to a reasonable level. We have a Golf Guest day planned for the 13 th, so if you know anyone who is interested in checking out the course or membership, please bring them along as your guest! The first annual Junior Invitational Tournament will be held on the 21 st and 22nd. Our Sr. Blitzers will hold their luncheon on the 24 th. Finally, as you saw from the cover, we are coordinating with the HOA s to offer a grand Fall Festival! It will include music, jump castles for the kids, a variety of food trucks, and did I mention music! If should be a memorable event! Membership News... Legend Oaks Family!! September has flown by here at Legend Oaks! We celebrated the Sweet Tea Festival with our very own Legend Oaks Mason Jars. If you didn t get yours there are a few left in the Pro shop! October is starting to give us a peak at some cooler temperatures which is perfect for Football, Fine Dining and a Fall Festival. We are excited for some new events this month and look forward to seeing everyone up at the clubhouse! FALL into SAVINGS with a Temporary Golf Membership here at Legend Oaks for $325.00 plus tax. A fun filled event for the whole family complete with live music, food trucks, bounce houses, corn hole, children s costume contest, and an onsite photographer to capture all the fun! HOA residents will need a valid drivers license to get your free drink ticket. The Holidays are getting close! Plan your Christmas party early and receive a $200.00 catering credit if booked by October 31. Remember! You don t have to be a member to dine or participate in events! We would love to meet you! Hello Golfers! Golf News Our Legend Oaks Club Championship on September 22 nd and 23 rd was a great success with 45 golfers. I would like to thank all the staff at Legend Oaks that made this event victorious. Congratulations to our 2018 winners! There have been some very close matches and I would like to thank all of you for completing your matches. Our Fourball Matchplay event is starting Monday, October 8th. Please be sure to contact the Golf Shop to register your team. I have started the process to have our hole by hole rating done on the golf course. Please be sure to drop in your completed scorecard after play as I need 100 scorecards from each tee location from our Golf Members. After I have gathered this information, the Handicap Committee, the Carolina Golf Association and myself will assess what changes need to be made on the golf course. Our Legend Oaks Junior League has been very successful! We are seeing new faces every week for our team clinic Tuesday s from 4:30-5:30pm. Please contact myself, or the Golf Shop to hear more about the program, it will continue until the end of this month. Lastly, check out my Free Fitting Wednesdays flyer on the next page. I will be doing Iron and Wedges Fittings on the driving range from 4-5:30pm, 45 minutes per person. I will be using my Flightscope Golf Launch Monitor and the Mizuno Fitting Cart. News From The Course Superintendent Hello Golfers! Fall is here, or it s supposed to be. We were very fortunate to avoid most of the effects of Hurricane Florence. We only received 1.8 of rain. This was great as we are still drying up the course from the heavy rains from August. We have applied pre-emerge herbicide to the course to prepare for the winter and prevent poa infestations. So now is the time to apply on your home lawns. Just make sure it s safe for your specific turf. We will be doing several different projects this winter including some bunker repair and cart path repair. These are ongoing projects we do every winter. Rick Smith Head Superintendent

News Around The Courts I m so excited to be here and to be working with the wonderful tennis community at Legend Oaks. I hope y all are enjoying the new scorecards, water coolers, and court number signs! It has been great seeing so many of the tennis members participating in the adult clinics, which include Women s Clinics Monday Mornings, Men s Tennis Tuesday Nights, and Stroke of the Week clinics. In addition to the several clinic options offered, private lessons are available and are a great tool to take your game to the next level. The US Open Team Tennis Social (RED vs BLUE team) was a smashing success as we had nearly 30 players participate. The RED Team came out victorious but great, competitive matches were played all weekend and lunch on Saturday was delicious. More fun and competitive tennis socials are to come in the near future! For the young Legend Oaks members, after school tennis clinics are back in action! I really love getting our junior players out on the courts and enjoying this beautiful sport. If your kid is at all interested in taking up tennis, do not hesitate to get them involved in our clinics or private lessons (All ages and skill levels are welcome!)
