Governor s Corner Hard to believe, but June is coming to an end, and summer is upon us! We would like to thank the Women of the Moose for a great Father's Day breakfast buffet. They always do a great job, and we appreciate them. We will be having a rummage sale on June 30th and July 1st. as a fundraiser for our Lodge. We need Items for the sale (no electronics please), now s the time to clean out your closet and garage and pass it on. You can call me at 760-522-4505 if you need help to get your items to the Lodge, or leave the items by the metal box down in the park. I'm out there every day to put it away. Please help us to make this rummage sale a great success. July 4th is our Picnic in the park. We will have a 78lb Pig to put on the rotisserie, so hope to see everyone out there for some pulled pork sandwiches and burgers. If you've never seen a pig on a rotisserie you need to come out early. We will take it in to the kitchen by 11. Don t want to see the pig? That s Ok, come out later and enjoy the food, fun and friends. Just a reminder, this is YOUR Lodge. We ve heard some people feel bad because they don't help and volunteer. Well don't feel bad, just come out and support those members that love to volunteer and enjoy cooking. By supporting their efforts, the events, coming out to dance to the bands and being with your family and friends, YOU are helping. Senior REGENT S chapter chatter June was a very full month of activities at our lodge. July will prove to be even busier with the upcoming 4 th of July Picnic and the Moose International Convention in New Orleans July 10-14. The WOTM welcomed Liz Crewdson at our meeting on Thursday June 14th. Liz talked about the Red Cross and how they help our Veterans and their families before, during and after deployments. She also shared information on how to prepare for emergencies and the types of items you should have ready in case of fire, earthquakes and more. It was a very insightful presentation. Liz also reminded us that there is donation box at every lodge, including ours to help our Veterans at Veterans Village. At their request, we re collecting CLEAN, new or slightly used jeans (no tears or frays) and new socks for both female and male Veterans. All donations will be picked up during the District Picnic (in our park) on July 28 th and delivered directly to Veterans Village. Please help our Vets and donate. Kearny Mesa had a Higher Degree Tea on June 9 th in honor of our Deputy Grand Regent, Bridget Robinson. They did a wonderful job, and everyone had a great time. This is the first of many to come, as we look into having a District celebration hosted by different Chapters to honor the Higher Degree holders. This is where we can all celebrate honors on a Saturday as a District and privately celebrate the Friendship, Star Recorder, and College recipients within our own Lodge. We re excited about the upcoming celebration (TBD). We had a great Fathers Day Breakfast Buffet for our Moose Fathers and their families. We want to thank Bonnie for making sure the dining room was set up with all supplies needed. We had Charly and Cindy in the kitchen cooking with Jeanne Pulver and Britney Fleck jumping in to help keep the food flowing quickly out of the kitchen. Amber, Evelyn and Nora helped with the serving, and Terrie Jacobsen and Susan Huppert collected the money and greeted all our Moose fathers and their families. Thank you all for a great job. You still have time to purchase your chance to win a week at the Sunburst Resort in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Aug.11 thru 18th. The WINNER will be announced on July 20th. You can buy your tickets from the Bartender, or we ll see you at the 4 th of July picnic and you can buy them there. Good Luck To You All. Please see the flyer in the Newsletter or around the Lodge for more details. Fraternally Yours, Lydia Persails Senior Regent
What s Happening with the Moose Riders? We ve had a couple unofficial rides this month with Extreme South. We also had a nice ride up to Idyllwild on Saturday. Most recently a ride through DeLuze Canyon up to Lake Elsinore Lodge and up to Hell s Kitchen. A great ride and beautiful day. We re looking on sprucing up the horseshoe pits for the upcoming 4th of July picnic...so get your game on! We re also looking at the cost of making a permanent structure cover over the keg bar by the horseshoe pits. We hope to have something on that by the Labor Day picnic. Moose Riders as well as Lodges and Chapters are donating Tommy Moose and Rosie Moose to the Shriner s Hospital in Pasadena. We plan on donating too and joining the Riders on the trip to Pasadena to deliver. As always, we do the cooking on the fourth Tuesday of every month to help out the lodge. Look for a monthly special burger, like the Western Bacon Cheese burgers, Ortega burgers or Teriyaki burgers (Check the week at a glance for the special of the month). Until Next Time, Dogman Mark Castillero
