IMO UPDATE - NCSR 4 TH SESSION SUB-COMMITTEE ON NAVIGATION, COMMUNICATION AND SEARCH AND RESCUE Developed a draft amendment to MSC.401(91) on the Performance Standards for Multi-System Shipborne Radionavigation Systems to ensure that the standards for stand-alone systems were taken into account; Prepared a draft performance standard for a ship earth station for use in the GMDSS; Prepared a draft Modernization Plan for the GMDSS. TRANSPORT CANADA REGULATORY UPDATE NAVIGATION SAFETY REGULATIONS New Navigation Safety Regulations Incorporation of ten existing regulations into one Most important modifications Incorporation of SOLAS chapter V for vessels of 150 gross tonnage and upward on international voyage and for vessels of 500 gross tonnage and upward navigating outside of Great-Lakes Expand the carriage requirements for EPIRB, AIS, ECDIS and BNWAS

TRANSPORT CANADA REGULATORY UPDATE NAVIGATION SAFETY REGULATIONS ECDIS new vessels of 3000 gross tonnage and more BNWAS for vessels affected by the incorporation by reference of SOLAS Navigation Safety Regulations should be published in the Canada Gazette part I late spring 2018 Navigation Safety Regulation in Canada Gazette part II around Fall 2018.

TRANSPORT CANADA REGULATORY UPDATE POLAR CODE Polar Code is incorporated by reference into the new Arctic Shipping Safety Pollution Prevention Regulations (ASSPPR). As consequential amendment of the ASSPPR, requirements specific to the Arctic included into the Ship Station (Radio) Regulations, 1999 and the Navigation Safety Regulations will be repealed.
