Castle Hill RSL Dolphins Newsletter 18th October, 2013 Visit our website at www.castlehilldolphins.com.au What's On? OCTOBER 19/20 th October NSW LC Qual Meet SOPAC 25th October Winter Club Presentation & LC Club Night Parramatta Pool 27 t h October Lane Cove Meet NOVEMBER 16 th & 17 th November SMNW Summer Championships 2013-2014 MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL Memberships for the 2013 2014 swimming year are now due. If you have any questions regarding your renewal please see Kim Morrisey or email registrar@castlehilldolphins.com.au. The new swimming year will also see the introduction of the new Dolphins uniforms, a new Club Shirt for each member is included in the registration cost. Remember, until your membership is current, points towards pointscore awards are not accumulated, any PB s swum on a Friday night are not recorded and any SMNW carnival cannot be entered. WINTER PRESENTATION AND 50M CLUB NIGHT On the 25th October we will be holding our Club Night at the Parramatta Pool. The summer swim season is swam in 50m pools (Long Course), as some of our younger members are yet to swim in a 50m pool, this will be a great introduction for them. It also gives our competitive swimmers practice in a long course pool for the upcoming season as well as providing a great opportunity to gain LC entry times. The program for the night will be the same as our normal program 4 with the addition of 50m and 100m Freestyle. This will give us the opportunity to swim all stokes on the night. The normal 3 swim rule will be waived for the night and all swimmers may swim all 4 events if they choose to do so. Our Coaches of the Performance Program (Junior, Senior and YES Squads) will be treating this Club Night as if it were an outside carnival and will be conducting a full warm up and pre competition meeting before the night commences. Nathan and Ellie will be looking after the Performance Squads and Kahlee and Tamie will be looking after the Juniors (Platinum, Gold, Silver, etc). They will be trialling new warm-up procedures and training our younger swimmers in proper meet preparation and warm-up. Please be there as close to 6:00 as possible for warm-ups and remember to report to your coach on arrival. Please check with your coaches as to which swims they would prefer you to do on the night. During the evening we will also be awarding yearly pointscore trophies to recipients for the 2012 / 2013 swimming year. The pool has plenty of grandstand seating as well as grassed areas for picnic rugs etc. We will provide more information as the night draws closer.

Message from Swimming NSW for this weekend s SOPAC Meet By now you will all be aware of the terrible fires at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre last weekend. Unfortunately due to this and the ongoing inspections it is highly unlikely that the P2 car park will be re-opened by the Long Course Qualilfying Meet this coming weekend. The SOPAC Office have advised the following: Please advise all patrons to view SOPA website under the parking tab for all future updates. http://www.sydneyolympicpark.com.au/ Swimming NSW apologises for any inconvenience this may cause to members. If you have any questions at all, please contact the Swimming NSW Office on 02 9763 5833 Regards, Swimming NSW SMNW SUMMER CHAMPIONSHIPS 16 th & 17 th NOVEMBER Our District (SMNW) Summer Championships will be held on the weekend of 16 th & 17 th November at SOPAC. A listing of Dolphins Qualifiers, Conditions of Entry and a Programme can be found at the end of this newsletter. Please note, you may have qualified for an event using your SC time. If this is the case, you can still enter however you will be entered in at the QT for that event. This is as per the conditions of Swimming NSW. Remember, there are quite a few of you who will achieve some times at the Lane Cove meet on 28 th October as well as our Friday night race night to be held at Parramatta Pool on 25 th October. We encourage ALL DOLPHINS to participate in this meet. It is an important event on our calendar each year. Entries are FREE to all registered Dolphin members. If you are not registered, Kerrie cannot enter you in the meet. Thus, if you haven t already done so, please re-register ASAP. Please complete a blue (boys) or pink (girls) entry card available next to the notice board at the pool. Entries can be placed in the silver box for her to collect. Please choose your events carefully. If you do not swim an event/s, we request you reimburse the club the $6.00 per event. Entries will close on Friday 2 nd November after club has finished. NO late entries will be accepted. Relay teams will be selected after entries have closed. Swimmers swimming an event on the day of the relay will only be eligible for selection. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Kerrie McDonald.

NEW DOLPHINS UNIFORMS The commencement of the new swimming year also sees the introduction of the new Dolphins Club Clothing. Our new Club shirts will be included in the cost of registration for this year. We will also have shorts and bags available immediately and will be introducing further lines over the coming months. Our Registrar (Kim Morrisey) and our Uniform Officer (Louise Craig) will be selling the new gear in the coming weeks at Club Nights. Please be patient in waiting for your shirt from registration as Kim will have a lot to process, rest assured all will receive their shirts ASAP. TECHNICAL OFFICIALS TO qualifications are only valid as long as the holder is registered with SNSW. Any of our TOs who have not renewed their registration 2013 2014 should do so straight away. AMENDMENTS TO THE RULES FOR SWIMMING There have been a number of changes to the rules for swimming. A copy of the amended rules is displayed on the club notice board and our coaches are aware of the changes. The full rules can be found on the SNSW website. From this Friday night our Referees will be applying the new rules. The Referees are there to assist our swimmers in performing each stroke correctly. Occasionally a swimmer will be disqualified for performing the stroke incorrectly. This should be seen as constructive criticism and the advice given by the Referee should be mentioned to the swimmer s coach so that the faults can be corrected before they become a habit.
