Training Overview U6 & U7 Training Focus The training sessions in this curriculum are based on activities provided by the Junior Framework training model which consists of 4 key components. This will ensure that all players are exposed to training sessions that inspire and motivate them to develop the necessary skills to become competent and enthusiastic about the game. All training sessions are designed to maximise opportunities for players to touch the ball and interact with others. The session s emphasis is built around Small Sided Games for the following main reasons: 1. Players become more aware of others and start to understand how and when to use each other within a game context. 2. Players are able to practice the skills learnt through the football co-ordination and football technique activities in the context of the game. 3. The game environment allows the players the freedom to explore. 4. Small Sided Games allow players to understand the basic concepts of attack and defence. 5. The game facilitates situations that allow players to be successful or make mistakes and learn (the game is the best teacher).
