LOS ANGELES DODGERS (66-57) vs. Seattle Mariners (70-53) LHP Rich Hill (5-4, 3.57) vs. RHP Erasmo Ramirez (0-2, 6.75) Saturday, August 18, 2018 7:10 p.m. PT Safeco Field Seattle, WA Game 124 Road Game 62 (34-27) Night Game 90 (48-41) TV: SNLA/SNLA Spanish; MLBN Radio: AM 570 (English)/ KTNQ 1020 AM (Spanish) THREE S A STREAK: The Dodgers tonight take on the AL West s Seattle Mariners in the middle contest of a three-game Interleague series at Safeco Field. Los Angeles has won two consecutive games after last night s blowout victory in which the team belted five home runs. Los Angeles is currently tied for second with Arizona for the highest winning percentage in the National League since the beginning of June, posting a.597 (40-27) mark during that span. Following this quick road trip, the Dodgers return home next week for a six-game homestand featuring three games apiece with the St. Louis Cardinals (Aug. 20-22) and San Diego Padres (Aug. 24-27). The Dodgers are 34-27 on the road this season and their.557 winning percentage is tied with Atlanta for the second best in the National League away from home. SLEW SEATTLE: The Dodgers are playing the Mariners for the first time since 2015 and paying their first visit to Safeco Field since taking two of three from June 8-10 in 2012. Overall, Los Angeles is 16-13 against the M s all-time, 6-6 in Seattle and 4-3 at Safeco Field. The Dodgers are 9-7 against the American League this season with four games left to play in Interleague matchups. All-time, the club is 183-187 vs. the AL and 77-109 on the road. RITCHIE-RICH: Dodger left-hander Rich Hill will take the mound in Seattle tonight for his 17 th start of the 2018 campaign. Hill was solid last Sunday in Denver, allowing three runs (two earned) and four hits in a 6.0-inning no-decision. In his last five outings following the All-Star break, Hill is 3-0 with a 1.78 ERA (6 ER/30.1 IP) and 30 strikeouts while holding opposing hitters to a.194 average in that time. In his last 11 games (10 starts) since returning from the disabled list on June 19, the southpaw has gone 4-2 with a 2.51 ERA (17 ER/61.0 IP) and has limited the opposition to a.210 average. He has also punched out 65 batters against 17 walks and has posted a 1.05 WHIP during that span. Hill is still is 4-0 in his career against the Mariners, while posting a 1.35 ERA (5 ER/35.1 IP) in 11 games (four starts). The last time he faced Seattle was on May 23, 2016 and the southpaw fired 8.0 scoreless innings at Safeco Field. Hill has been incredible at Safeco Field, going 4-0 with a miniscule 0.39 ERA (1 ER/23.0 IP) while striking out 25 in six games (three starts). That 0.39 ERA is tied with Seattle s Alex Colome for the best among active pitchers at Safeco Field (min. 20.0 IP). Hill has been tough with runners in scoring position this season, as he is limiting hitters to a.138 (8-for-58) mark, which is the fourth best mark among National League pitchers with 50 or more batters faced, trailing Adam Ottavino (.122), Max Scherzer (.131) and Aaron Nola (.135). Since the 2017 season, the veteran has held the opposition to a.169 average with runners in scoring position, which ranks third in the big leagues (min. 150 BFP), trailing just Blake Snell (.149) and Brad Hand (.164). In 15 August games, Dodger starters are 4-2 with a 2.42 ERA (24 ER/89.1 IP) and have limited the opposition to a.201 average. The starters have posted the lowest ERA, opponents batting average and WHIP (1.01) in the National League during that span. THE FABULOUS MR. KEMP: Dodger outfielder Matt Kemp went 2-for-4 with a homer, two runs scored and two RBI last night and the big fly was his 200 th as a Dodger, leaving him 11 shy of Steve Garvey for sixth in franchise history. The homer was Kemp s first since hitting two on July 22 in Milwaukee, a span of 20 games. Kemp has also collected two or more hits in back-to-back games for the first time since July 22-23 at Miller Park. WHAT A RUN: On this date in 2013, the Dodgers capped off a stretch of 42 wins in 50 games with a 5-0 shutout win at Philadelphia. It concluded the franchise s best 50-game run in the modern era (since 1900) and the Dodgers 42 wins tied for the second-most by a Major League team in a 50-game span since 1900. Also on this date in 2001, Dodger outfielder Shawn Green became the first left-handed hitter in Los Angeles Dodger history to drive in 100 runs in a season. Green went on to knock in 125 run that year, which is still tops among L.A. Dodger left-handed hitters.
