The Knights Code Integrity Unity Loyalty Courage Perseverance Service The Varsity Tennis team defeated Wakeland 14 matches to 5. In a team match that lasted over 5 hours, 10 of the 19 matches were settled by 3rd set tiebreakers. IHS won 7 of the tiebreakers to secure the win and push the District record to 3-0! P A G E 4 From Counseling Junior Guidance Lessons: September 13 th and 14 th through junior English classes The IHS Counselors will be meeting with juniors on Wednesday and Thursday of next week in order to review important information related to junior year, including PSAT information, ACT and SAT testing information, and preparing for senior year. Seniors Senior Parent Meeting on September 11th at 6:30 p.m. in the IHS Café. P A G E 5 IHS Homecoming 2017 There is No Place Like HIME Homecoming Independence High School s Homecoming Dance will be on October 28 th from 7:00-10:00pm. The Homecoming ticket and t-shirt sales will begin the first week of October. If your student is interested in bringing a guest from another school, they will need to turn in a guest waiver form. The guest waiver forms are located in the AP office. DRESS CODE FOR THE INDEPENDENCE HIGH SCHOOL HOMECOMING DANCE SATURDAY, OCTOBER 28TH FROM 7:00-10:00PM GENTLEMEN Expected attire is a suit or dress shirt and tie. No jeans are allowed. No hats, shades, bandanas, grills, or other miscellaneous items that are a violation of the school dress code will be allowed. All school dress code policies will be enforced. LADIES Expected attire include: Dresses, pant suits, and skirts that are within school dress code (must be finger-tip length; slits must not extend past finger-tip length) Spaghetti straps are acceptable, but dress code regarding cleavage must be followed. Dresses should be modestly cut; no plunging necklines are allowed. The majority of the back must be covered. Dress shoes are expected to be worn (no slippers, house shoes or athletic shoes). No two-piece, bra-top-type dresses. All dresses must cover the mid-riff region and be modest in style with no sheer fabric. No see through tops or bra-tops. No mesh that attaches a bra top to a skirt bottom, thus making it a one-piece dress. No strapless dresses. One shoulder dresses are allowed. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION IHS administration will not allow students into the dance if their attire does not comply with these standards and refunds will not be given. As this is a school sponsored activity, ANY PERSON that attends the Independence High School Homecoming Dance MUST be in compliance with the dress code and all Independence High School Policies & Procedures.
P A G E 6 Football Tickets Football Tickets for the Varsity game can be purchased in the AP Office or the Kiosk. Student tickets are $3.00 and adult are $6. Ticket sales always end the DAY BEFORE the game. If you wait until Friday, tickets will be $8 and can only be purchased at the Kiosk or at the gate. Buy your tickets early and save some cash! Parking Permits All student drivers must get a NEW parking permit this year. Come by the AP office to get the required paperwork. Permits cost $50 and you can pay on My Payments Plus or by cash or check in the AP Office. You must have a 2017-2018 permit on your vehicle by September 11th. Fines will be charged to the drivers of vehicles without the new permit beginning September 11th. Theatre Spirit Wear Super cool IHS spirit wear design as well as Theatre Specific design.
