Riverhill Reporter May 2018 Riverhill Membership, Spring is here and our season is well underway. Some great improvements have been completed and others in progress. The lake on #4 is full, while we are still waiting on the new pump station completion. The pump station is currently being built with a target completion date in Early June.

The Driving Range Tee is complete. It has been completely renovated with new sod and new irrigation system. This will consistently provide a better hitting service, while sustaining better turf coverage. The driving range tee is scheduled to open around the middle of May As of this month, Tyler will not be the chef at Riverhill moving forward. We recognize and thank Tyler for his years of service to The Club and wish him well in his professional career. Tyler has moved on to explore other opportunities. Again, we wish him the best. I would like to announce the hiring of our New Chef to Riverhill Country Club, Blas Gonzalez. Blas has a fantastic pedigree in the world of cooking. Blas began his culinary career and training in 1985. He worked at Hudson s on the Bend in Austin, Texas. At Hudson s, Chef Gonzalez developed his skills and techniques for over 15 years. As the Executive Sous Chef, Chef Gonzalez became recognized as an innovative expert in the preparation of traditionally Texas dishes such as wood grilled wild game with unique and savory sauces. In 2004, Chef Gonzalez accepted the position of Chef de Cuisine at another Texas landmark, Ocotillo Restaurant at the Lajitas Resort and Spa. In 2007 Blas became the Executive Chef, and he and Ocotillo were recognized with the Four Diamond Award for 3 consecutive years. In more recent years, Blas successfully launched the Antler Grille at Stablewood Springs in Hunt, Texas. Following there he was executive chef at the Hunt Store. We are looking forward to having Blas lead our food and beverage area of The Club to new and exciting levels. I am looking forward to our golf season and providing our membership with the best possible product and service each day. Our Club continues to grow each week. Don t forget to invite your friends to join The Club and be a part of the Riverhill Family. Riverhill Proud!!

From the Desk of Bryan Hargrove Membership Director The calendar for May is full of great activities at the club. Headlining the calendar is, of course, the Byron Nelson Classic Member-Guest Golf Tournament scheduled for May 17-19 th. From the Membership Department, mark your calendar for May 23 rd to be a part of the annual Membership Promotion. This is a great way to show off your club to your friends that may be interested in joining Riverhill. More details will be sent out in the near future. If you are preparing for your dream vacation or special getaway, be RIVERHILL PROUD while you travel. Stop by the office and pick up a Riverhill towel from Janey and snap a photo from your location. We will add to our newsletter. We want to continue improving our club. To keep doing this, we need to keep bringing new members, as well as our members making timing payments on their accounts. Thank you for being loyal to Riverhill. As always,

I am RIVERHILL PROUD! Bryan Hargrove Membership Director Welcome to our new members who joined last month:

Golf Byron Nelson Invitational Update We are 2 teams short of full. The event is May 17 th 19 th and the best one of the year. Don t miss the great time and come show the club off to your guest. Don t forget Mother s Day on May 13 th. The golf shop has lots of great gifts including Foot Joy shoes, caps, visors and shirts by Antigua, Cutter Buck and Foot Joy. This month s golf guest special continues Wednesday s for $50 including lunch. As I write we are getting our first measurable rain in quite a while. This will help but not get us back to even for the year. We continue to need your help watching cart traffic. Please pair up in your group, use the 90 degree rule and keep your carts on the path around greens and tees. Doing these will help the course and provide better playing conditions for everyone. Thank you in advance for your cooperation. Junior Golf League This summer we are offering a full time junior program for boys and girls 13 and under. For $200 juniors will get a clinic every Wednesday at 4:00 (May 30 th July 25 th ), 6 entries into 2-person 9 hole scramble tournaments at area clubs and a team shirt. There are still opens available if you know of any other kids have them contact Matt or Mark in the golf shop. Weekly Jr. clinics are going on Wednesday s 4:00 prior to May 30 th. Junior Golf Camp dates are: June 19 th 21 st, June 26 th 28 th, July 11 th 13 th and July 25 th July 27 th. With so many juniors last year we have added an extra week this summer. Camps will cover putting, short game, long game, rules and etiquette. Lunch is included and the kids can go home cool and refreshed with pool time each day after camp. The cost is $125 per each 3 day session and applications will be in the golf shop and on the website at riverhillcc.com. The Course will be open Monday, May 28 th for Memorial Day. Please call for your tee- times.

Beginning May 26th through Labor Day, the course will open at 7:30. This will get players out earlier to try to beat the heat. Reminder Tuesday Shambles start at 5:30 and are a great way to get 9 holes in and see your buddies. The pond on #4 is being filled and will now be played as a lateral hazard. The surrounding areas we are fixing up will still be considered ground under repair. We hope to have the area from the start of the lake to the green, level, cleared of non Bermuda grass and playable by mid-july. If you have not been to the club, we have resurfaced the range tee and taken out the bunker between the putting and chipping greens. We hope to have these areas reopened mid-may and believe the areas will provide a much better practice area for you to enjoy. See you on the course, Matt Trevino, PGA Upcoming Events: May 17 th 19 th Byron Nelson Invitational May 31 st Member-Staff Scramble June 3 rd 8 th Women s West Texas Golf Association June 11 th 14 th Course Closed for Greens Aerification. Men s Golf Association (MGA) Ahhh, May. The end of spring and the beginning of summer. Swimming pools, barbeque, adult beverages under the shade trees, what s not to like? May at Riverhill is a wonderful month, and not just because your intrepid reporter celebrates his birth this month. But first, a quick look back. We had three play days in April, but Mother Nature conspired to keep the attendance down at all three. We are finally getting back up there with a dozen to twenty players, but I know that we can do much better. Congratulations to all the winners in April, and thank you to all that braved the wind and cold to join us. I m sure that May will be much better, both the weather and the attendance. Speaking of May, we have three play dates in May, including the always popular Spring Cookout. Put these dates on your calendar now: May 5 Saturday 9:30 ABC 2 net best balls May 10 Thursday 1:00 pm Individual Stableford May 24 Thursday 1:00 pm Shamble Spring Cookout and Prizeaplooza in Mansion after play Once last date to put on your calendar right now. The All Club Tournament to fight cancer will be July 14 th. This was a huge success last year, and we want at least that same level of success for this year. My shout-out this month is to Mother Nature. Maybe if I compliment her the beautiful spring flowers and the green fairways, she ll quit messing with the weather on our play days. We re finally getting a bit of rain as I write this, and things are looking up! Have a great MGA month, everyone. Riverhill Women s Golf Association May is here with a full calendar and lots of fun! Several players will start the month in Corpus Christi with the Texas Senior Women s Golf Association tournament. Good luck ladies! At home the month jump-starts with Beat the Pro at 9:00 am on May 2 nd, followed by the monthly meeting on May 9 th at 8:00/9:00 Scramble, Presidents Cup May 11-12, and ACE of the Month on May 16 th. Please reserve the following dates: June 16 th for the RWGA burger social with spouses and guests and July 14 th for the all-club tournament to fight cancer. Riverhill hosted the women s inter-club Stableford play on April 4 th. Captain Gill Davidson reported a fantastic result with our team score of 24 points and with individual players Diane Henry, Linda Johnson, Patty Armstrong and Diana Howard scoring points. Well done! Everyone had a grand good time at the Rules and Wine social hosted by Jenny Mitchell on April 25 th. Thank you to Matt for being our ladies Man of the Hour and thanks to Jenny for her gracious hospitality. Remember to sign up for the Presidents Cup May 11 th and 12 th. It is an eclectic with lunch and prizes after play on the 12 th, all included in your annual dues!

The tax day tennis mixer was another huge success even with 2 courts under construction we had 18 players. many of the people said it was one of the best with doubles, mixed and we a drill/clinic court going the whole time.
