UNIFORM CODE & CONTRACT Being a part of The PRIDE means that you are now a member of one of the finest marching bands in the activity and are responsible for continuing our trademark tradition of excellence in performance and appearance. The following guidelines are to be followed in wearing and caring for your uniform. 1. Each musician uniform consists of a plume, shako, shirt, jacket, bibbers, black socks, marching shoes and gloves. The uniform should always be complete and stored properly between performances. 2. The uniform is designed for a specific, consistent image throughout the band. Nothing is to be added to or subtracted from any individual uniform. 3. Hair length on both male and female musicians should not be longer than the collar of the jacket. Hair that is longer that the collar on both male and female musicians should be secured in a ponytail the entire time the student is in uniform, with the only exception being on band picture day. Hair color should always be in accordance to school rules. 4. Only stud earrings are permitted. No loops, pins, chains, or any other earrings or piercings are to be worn in uniform. In addition, no bright color makeup should be worn while in uniform. Only natural palettes will be allowed. 5. Neither the jacket nor pants shall ever be allowed to touch the ground. Pants are either to be worn or on a hanger. The jacket may be worn, hung up or folded correctly and laid upon the shako when appropriate (i.e. warm-up). 6. Shakos should always be carried with the opening of the hat facing down. They should never be used as a bucket to carry flip folders, jackets, etc. 7. All members of The PRIDE are to be consistent in their appearance and dress at any given time. For example, only wear the hat if the whole band is supposed to have them on; all jackets are either on or off. By signing below, the student/parents agree that the student will uphold all rules while in uniform and accept that he/she will not be permitted to participate in performances if any rules are broken, or if any pieces of the uniform are missing. 2018-2019 Individual Student Sponsorship Form Dear I am proud to announce that I am a member of the Southside High Band The PRIDE of Southside! The PRIDE is one of the most decorated and recognized band programs in the southeast. Each year, the Southside Band gives approximately 20 performances at football games, competitions, concerts, recitals, performances, parades and even national events. Everyone talks about the state of education in America today, but the hard cold reality is that education has seen many budget cuts over recent years. Operating and maintain a quality band program is very expensive and efforts at fundraising continue be more challenging with each year. I need YOUR help! This year, the Southside Band will participate in three marching competitions, march in two parades, play at ten high school football games, perform three concerts and play for Alabama State Performance Assessment. Any donation you can make will help pay for our music, equipment, transportation, maintenance of existing instruments and instruction. This year, each student s band fee is $300. This cost is a large amount for a young person to bear alone. You can make a difference by pledging your financial support today. Any amount you donate goes directly towards my quota. Your contribution is considered a donation and is 100% tax deductible. (Excludes parents) Southside High School s Federal Tax ID Number is: 63-1148528.
