BLASTING OFF BEFORE THE BREAK--The Royals hammered six home runs in yesterday s doubledip, upping the season total to 98, which is already one more than the previous club best of 97 set in the 2003 season in 92 games...last night s affair was the 80th contest this year...yesterday s first game featured a franchise first when the bottom four hitters in Ned Yost s lineup each homered, beginning with Mike Moustakas tying a career best with his 22nd blast of the year in the fourth inning, then two hitters later Alcides Escobar clubbed his second...brandon Moss later hit a gargantuan shot to center, measuring 474 feet, to tie the game in the fifth and then Alex Gordon capped the festivities with a 3-run shot to right in the seventh...the nightcap featured a first inning 2-run shot from Eric Hosmer and then Jorge Soler provided a 2-run blast in the sixth. DAYDREAM BELIEVERS--After taking the matinee yesterday, the Royals are now 12-5 in their last 17 day games...this stretch coming after a dreadful beginning in 2017 when the club started out 1-11 when playing under the sun...the tables have turned dramatically in both the regular season record and in the daylight hours for the Royals who are now 13-16 on the year in matinees. ALL-STAR SUNDAY--The teams for the 2017 All-Star Game slated for July 11 in Miami will be announced tonight on ESPN (6:00 p.m. CDT)...the Royals will afford the media an opportunity to speak with any selected All-Stars after today s game on the condition the interviews are embargoed until after the ESPN announcement. ROAD WORK RESUMES TOMORROW--This abbreviated stop in Kauffman Stadium ends today and this evening the Royals will jump a charter to Seattle to start a 6-game tour that will take the club into the All-Star break...it starts tomorrow with the first of three in Seattle, then after an off day on Thursday, KC will pay just its second-ever visit to Dodger Stadium, first since 2003, with a 3-game stop in L.A...the Royals are 17-21 on the year away from The K, but have flipped the script from a rough 2-11 road start to the year...starting with the first trip of May which was a 3-1 stop in Tampa Bay, Kansas City has gone 15-10 on the road for a.600 winning pct...the Royals have won eight of its last 11 road games. ACE 30 REMEMBERING YO--The morning of January 22, 2017 will always be remembered as one of the most tragic days in franchise history when word was received that pitcher Yordano Ventura had his life cut short due to a car accident in his native Dominican Republic...signed as a 17-year old in 2008, the fireballing right-hander compiled a 38-31 during his abbreviated Major League career...among many highlights, Ace will be most remembered for blanking the San Francisco Giants over 7.0 innings in Game #6 of the 2014 World Series to force a seventh and deciding game, while pitching with a heavy heart himself due to the untimely passing of his friend Oscar Tavares...to honor the late Ventura, all uniforms in 2017 will be adorned with the ACE 30 patch.
