Conditions of Entry PLEASE READ CAREFULLY GATES OPEN FROM 7.30AM All conditions must be adhered to for us to comply with our insurance requirements. Please read all rules, failure to comply could result in you or your child not being able to compete. We don t wish to cause distress for anyone, we would rather you rode happily and safely. Thank you. 1. PCAV approved Helmets (AS/NZS 3838 or EN1384 or ASTMF1163 or PAS105) and smooth soled riding boots and MEDICAL ARMBANDS are compulsory in all rings. NB: THERE CAN BE NO NEGOTIATION ON HELMET STANDARDS PLEASE CHECK THAT YOUR HELMET COMPLIES. 2. No plaiting, fully clipped horses or jackets in rings 1,2,3,4, optional in Ring 5 or fancy dress. Fully clipped horses accepted in jumping rings. 3. Riders may share horses but entrants must choose one ring only from rings one to five to ride in and are not permitted to ride in more than one of these rings. All entrants riding in rings one to five are permitted to ride in the fancy dress. 4. Gear checks will be carried out by judges/stewards. Please ensure all horses are wearing a bit and bridle, stitching is not frayed, stirrup leathers are not wrapped around irons to make shorter, bits are not too loose or tight in horses mouth, girths are not too large/loose etc. 5. No children on foot, in prams or in backpacks etc are permitted to be in the ring. 6. The organisers reserve the right to add, delete or alter any events deemed necessary. 7. The judges and committees decision will be final. 8. No rigs, colts or stallions allowed on grounds. 9. No dogs allowed on grounds or in vehicles. 10. Liability: The organisers and members of the Smythesdale and District Pony Club accept no responsibility for any injury, damage or loss sustained by any competitor, spectator, animal or equipment. Competitors compete at their own risk and are solely responsible for any accident or damage sustained. 11. There will be NO REFUND on unused tickets whatsoever. 12. Protests must be lodged in writing and accompanied by a $30 fee on the day of the gymkhana. 13. Ribbons will be awarded in rings 1 & 2 and to 4 th place in all other rings. IMPORTANT: For our records EVERY rider (or parent/guardian) entered in events please report to the clubrooms on arrival to complete a day attendance form or show PCAV card and pay a $5.00 facility fee. Every effort will be made to have rings 1-5 finished by 12.00. However competitor numbers are difficult to predict. If any ring is still in progress at 12.30 competitors will have to choose between staying in their ring or going to fancy dress. NB: PCAV approved helmets; medical armbands and boots must be worn in Fancy Dress Thank you Saddleworld for your generous support Gymkhana Checklist Have you got: An approved helmet, smooth soled riding boots and a rider s medical armband - with riders name, address, phone number and emergency contacts clearly written and details of allergies etc. Is all gear safe, have you checked stitching and fit? Have you remembered you must attend entries office first to pay $5.00 facility fee, show your pony club card if a pony club member, or pay $10 and complete a day attendance form if a non pony club member? OPEN SHOWJUMPING RULES - Accumulative over two rounds Article 269 ACCUMULATOR COMPETITION OVER 2 ROUNDS 1. This competition takes place over 6, 8 or 10 obstacles with an increasing difficulty. Combination obstacles are not allowed. The increasing difficulty is not solely due to the height and spread of the obstacles, but also to the difficulty of the track. 2. Bonus points are awarded as follows: 1 point for obstacle No 1 not knocked down, 2 points for No 2, 3 points for No 3, etc. with a total of 21, 36 or 55 points. No point is awarded for an obstacle knocked down. Faults other than knock-downs are penalised as for Table A. 3. First round is not against the clock. Points are accumulated over both rounds with the second round against the clock to decide equal placings. 5. For the last obstacle of the course, an alternative obstacle may be provided, of which one element may be designated the Joker. The Joker must be more difficult than the alternative obstacle and carry double points. If the Joker is knocked down, these points must be deducted from the total points obtained so far by the Rider. Ring 1. OPEN SHOW JUMPING COMPETITION Will commence at 1.00pm Judge: Jeff Hill $8.00 Entry fee Prepaid $10 on the day RIDERS CAN ONLY ENTER A MAXIMUM OF 2 CLASSES AND CANNOT ENTER BELOW GRADED HEIGHT. (Competition is over 2 rounds) For open show jumping rules see elsewhere in program Riding boots, medical armbands and helmets are compulsory. Ring 2. FRESHMAN S SHOW JUMPING commences 12.00pm Riders must be riding off lead rope and able to jump without assistance $4.00 per round, unlimited rounds, however organisers will announce time limits & round limits if numbers make it necessary to do so, or if it is deemed by the jumping judge that a horse is looking tired or distressed. Ribbons will be given for clear rounds with a limit of 2 ribbons per rider. 1. Freshman s Height 35cm 2. Freshman s Height 45cm 3. Freshman s Height 60cm 4. Freshman s Height 75cm 5. Freshman s Height 90cm 6. Freshman s Height 105cm 10

Obstacle Course - Open 12.00pm until 3pm in pipe yard. Entries - $4.00 per attempt Each rider is timed over a variety of obstacles. Fastest perfect round wins. For each obstacle not successfully completed, thirty seconds will be added to the final time. NOTE pre-paid tickets entitled to unlimited entries per rider. Any combination may ride more than once, upon payment of additional entry fee - $4.00 per attempt. However, only the FIRST ATTEMPT will be recorded on the score sheet. Topsy combination may be led Riders 12 years and under Riders 13 years and under 18years Riders 18 years and over Led Horse or Pony (no rider) All classes will be run concurrently but judged separately. Gymkhana Prepaid Prices include Fancy Dress and Obstacle Course: Rings 1 and 2 - $30.00 Rings 3, 4 and 5 - $20.00 as many classes as you like/are eligible for.
