Meet Mia... When school is out, the Y is in! When Mia Binder s parents enrolled her in the Y s Summer Day Camp program, they expected their 5-year-old would make some new friends and maybe even gain some confidence in the swimming pool. What they didn t expect were the endless stories. Every afternoon at pickup time, Mia was excited to tell her parents about the camp songs she d learned, the crafts she d made even the snake she got to hold. She got to see and actually hold live snakes, James Binder remembers. She has told and retold this story so many times. The Y has given her a memorable summer and helped prepare her for the upcoming school year. We cannot wait until next summer s camp. YMCA summer programs including day camps, aquatics instruction and youth sports offer fun and enrichment in a safe, nurturing environment. At the Y, we believe every child has potential, and we re here to nurture that potential, Operations Director Susan Long says. Every day, we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that all children, regardless of age, income or background, have the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. While the Y offers youth programming year-round, the organization understands that summer can be an especially challenging time for working parents. YMCA summer programs start just after the school year ends, with a range of full- and part-day options for kids ages 3 to 17. 9

YMCA basketball leagues are the best and most fun around! Coaches work on basic ball handling, passing and shooting while introducing defensive and offensive schemes. Kids enjoy learning this great game! YMCA co-ed Flag Football program offers a low-contact; high-energy introduction to the fundamentals of the sport in a fun and supportive environment. This league emphasizes on development, teamwork and good sportsmanship. Here's an opportunity for youth to stay active, create memories and grow in the spirit of honesty, caring, respect and responsibility. Children are taught basic game skills, such as receiving, passing, and shooting. They are also taught goalie skills. YMCA T-ball/Baseball introduces children to the many benefits that playing the sport of baseball offers. Youth will learn the basic fundamentals of catching, throwing, hitting, and hand-eye coordination in a fun and supportive environment that encourages teamwork, communication and self-esteem. Our T-ball classes help build confidence, and offer a place on the field for kids of all athletic abilities and personalities to hone their skills, develop new ones and thrive in a team environment. Your kid will love our instructional sports program that introduce them to the fundamentals of sports of all sorts! This 6 week program introduces the little ones to soccer, basketball and T-Ball. Coaches use age appropriate drills and equipment to teach the beginner in an environment of ease and fun. Parent involvement is required. Y sports isn't just about being the best, running the fastest, or scoring. It's about learning how to be a leader, building character and making friends. All kids who participate in this league are required to attend a school within Lincoln Unified School District. 11
