GEORGIA STATE WOMEN S GOLF The 2017-2018 school year is complete and now we are waiting for final grades to come out. After visiting with all the girls, I believe that our team GPA will once again place us among the top teams in the country. Our golf season ended with a 5 th place finish in the Sun Belt Conference Championship. We started very slow in the tournament but finished strong! We have worked all year on finishing strong and the girls have bought into staying focused and committed until the last putt is in the hole. I am very proud of how they fought until the very end. Their determined attitude will assist us greatly during the start of next season. The end of the year means that we must say goodbye to our graduating seniors. We are excited for what the future holds for Emily Royer, Yasemin Sari and Paula Zabarte. They are three multi-talented individuals who have bright futures ahead of them. It has been my personal pleasure to serve as their coach over the past four years. I will miss them dearly and feel grateful that they were part of our golf program and part of my life. We are excited to announce the signing of three student-athletes for next fall. L-R: Yasemin Sari, Emily Royer, Paula Zabarte You can see their introductions a few pages down in the newsletter. Emma Berlin is from Taby, Sweden and posted two tournament wins this season with her low score being 68. She is planning on studying English. Maria Blasco is from Barcelona, Spain and has played some great golf in Spain including a career low of 68. She is eager to start her college career and will major in Education. Sandra Vazquez is our final NLI signee and she is from Palma de Mallorca, Spain. Sandra is currently on the Spanish national team and her best tournament round is a fantastic -6. She plans on studying Sports Management. In addition to our three NLI signees, we have a local player from Georgia coming in and we will update you on her once NCAA rules allow us to do so. Our summer will be spent recruiting future Panthers and getting ready for the start of the fall season. Our fall tournament schedule is set and we are finalizing the tournament schedule for next spring. We will update you on all of this in our next newsletter. Thank you for your continued support of our Women s Golf Program. Go Panthers! Cathy

Zabarte & Howard Placed on Sun Belt All-Tournament Team Led by a pair of top five finishers, the Georgia State women s golf team concluded the season with a tie for fifth place at the Sun Belt Conference Championship at The Raven Golf Club. Senior Paula Zabarte, who earned a career-best fourthplace finish in her final collegiate tournament, shot a final round 73 to finish the 54- hole event at 10-over par. It marked the first top 10 finish of her career. Chloe Howard capped a remarkable freshman season with a tie for fifth at 11-over par following a final round 72. Howard finished her first year at GSU with three top 10 finishes and six top 25 results in just 10 events. For their efforts, both Zabarte and Howard earned Sun Belt All-Tournament honors.

PANTHERS EARN RUNNER- UP FINISH AT BAMA BEACH BASH The Georgia State women s golf team earned a season-best second-place finish over spring break at the Bama Beach Bash as Chloe Howard and Harmanprit Kaur finished among the top 10. The Panthers shot a final round 12-over 300 to finish the 54-hole event at 27-over par, tied for the lowest score in relation to par this season. Howard shot a final round 2-under par 70 that included a stretch of three-straight birdies to finish alone in fifth-place at 1-over par. It marked the first top 5 finish for a member of the team this year. Kaur added a final round 5-over 77 to finish in ninth-place at 6-over par. Senior Paula Zabarte shot a 4-over 76 in the final round to finish at 10-over and tied for 12th, while sophomore Grace Choi shot a 77 to finish tied for 29th at 22-over. Redshirt-junior Emily Royer rounded out the line-up with a 6-over 78 to tie for 25th at 20-over par. Junior Jemima Gregson who was competing as an individual shot a 1-over 73 to finish tied for 12th at 10-over par. Senior Yasemin Sari, also competing as an individual tied for 27th at 21- over following a final round 79.

Kaur shot 78 in the final round, while Zabarte shot 80. Junior Jemima Gregson rounded out the line-up with an 82 in the final round that left her at 23-over and tied for 51st. Senior Yasemin Sari who was competing as an individual shot an 80 on in the final round and tied for 70th at 32-over par. We would like to give a huge shoutout to all of the volunteers who also braved the rain and cold weather. Each volunteer made the 25th annual John Kirk Panther a huge success and we could not have done it without each of you. I really want to say thank you to everyone who helped put on a great tournament, head coach Cathy Mant said. We battled some tough weather conditions the last few days but everyone stuck together and helped us out. It is greatly appreciated. We look forward to hosting the 26th annual John Kirk Panther in 2019 from March 31st to April 2nd at Eagle s Landing Country Club.
