GEORGIA STATE WOMEN S GOLF The 2017-2018 school year is complete and now we are waiting for final grades to come out. After visiting with all the girls, I believe that our team GPA will once again place us among the top teams in the country. Our golf season ended with a 5 th place finish in the Sun Belt Conference Championship. We started very slow in the tournament but finished strong! We have worked all year on finishing strong and the girls have bought into staying focused and committed until the last putt is in the hole. I am very proud of how they fought until the very end. Their determined attitude will assist us greatly during the start of next season. The end of the year means that we must say goodbye to our graduating seniors. We are excited for what the future holds for Emily Royer, Yasemin Sari and Paula Zabarte. They are three multi-talented individuals who have bright futures ahead of them. It has been my personal pleasure to serve as their coach over the past four years. I will miss them dearly and feel grateful that they were part of our golf program and part of my life. We are excited to announce the signing of three student-athletes for next fall. L-R: Yasemin Sari, Emily Royer, Paula Zabarte You can see their introductions a few pages down in the newsletter. Emma Berlin is from Taby, Sweden and posted two tournament wins this season with her low score being 68. She is planning on studying English. Maria Blasco is from Barcelona, Spain and has played some great golf in Spain including a career low of 68. She is eager to start her college career and will major in Education. Sandra Vazquez is our final NLI signee and she is from Palma de Mallorca, Spain. Sandra is currently on the Spanish national team and her best tournament round is a fantastic -6. She plans on studying Sports Management. In addition to our three NLI signees, we have a local player from Georgia coming in and we will update you on her once NCAA rules allow us to do so. Our summer will be spent recruiting future Panthers and getting ready for the start of the fall season. Our fall tournament schedule is set and we are finalizing the tournament schedule for next spring. We will update you on all of this in our next newsletter. Thank you for your continued support of our Women s Golf Program. Go Panthers! Cathy
