Thank you for purchasing a RustySpokes Softcruise. We know you are going to enjoy the bike, but if you had it shipped to you, there are a few things you need to do to assemble the bike. The seat, pedals and handlebars need to be installed. It is not a difficult task but some may not have the necessary tools a 15-mm pedal wrench is not the same as a 15-mm open-end wrench. The open-end wrench is appreciably thicker than a pedal wrench, you won t be able to get the right amount of torque on the pedals. We recommend you have a bike technician assemble your bike. If you choose to assemble the bike yourself, you will need the following tools: 1 each - 6-mm wrench, socket, open-end, or box o Box is preferred, used for loosening jacking screw and fender nuts 2 each - 13-mm wrenches, socket, open-end, or box ½ inch wrenches may be used o Used for the nuts on the seat clamp 1 each 14-mm wrench, socket, open-end or box o Used on axle nuts 1 each number 2 Philips head screwdriver o Used on brake and fender screws 1 each 6-mm Allen wrench o Used to tighten the seat post 1 each 5-mm Allen wrench o Used to tighten the handlebars 1 each 15-mm pedal or cone wrench o Used for the pedals the longer wrench handle is the more torque you can put on the pedals, they need to be really tight! the left pedal tightens to the left, (counter-clockwise), the right pedal tightens to the right, (clockwise) 2017 RustySpokes All rights reserved 2

How to assemble a Softcruise bike. 1. Make sure all the nuts and bolts are very tight! The pedals need to be mounted to the crank. They are labeled L for left and R for right, make sure you check and put them on the correct side a. The pedals are marked L & R, if you try to mount them on the wrong side, they will strip the threads. L turns counter-clockwise, R turns clockwise. b. Tighten each pedal with a pedal wrench as tight as you can so the pedal will not loosen while being ridden. 1. Install the handlebars a. The handlebar gooseneck bolt is tightened down so the wedge will not get lost during shipping. Use the 5-mm Allen wrench to loosen the bolt until there is only 1 full thread still out at the bottom of the wedge. b. Insert the handlebar tube into the frame tube to the front wheel, adjust the height of the handlebars to approximately the height necessary for your personal comfort and tighten the bolt as tight as possible. 2017 RustySpokes All rights reserved 3

1. Install the seat. a. Use the two 13-mm (1/2 inch) wrenches to loosen the clamp that will hold the seat to the seat post, once it is straight, use the same wrenches to tighten the seat to the seat post. b. Loosen the seat post bolt with a 6-mm Allen wrench and adjust the seat to a height that is comfortable for you. i. Before you completely tighten down the seat post make sure there is at least 1 inch of seat post inside the seat post tube for maximum grip and your personal safety Tighten the crank bolts 1. Tighten the crank bolts. If you don t, and they have become loose during shipping, it could cause an accident, tighten them down for your safety. You will need to remove the weather covers from the crank, (shown to the right). Remove the covers from both sides. 2017 RustySpokes All rights reserved 4

a. The bolt you will be tightening b. Use the 14-mm wrench to tighten the crank bolt as tight as possible. Make sure you do both sides. Replace the weather caps as you go. 2017 RustySpokes All rights reserved 5

Check the tension of the chain 2. If it is to any degree loose, tighten it using the following instructions: a. Use the 6-mm wrench to loosen the jacking bolts, on both sides b. Use the 6-mm wrench and the Philips screwdriver loosen the brake. 2017 RustySpokes All rights reserved 6

c. Use your 14-mm wrench loosen both axle nuts d. Pull the rear wheel back as much as necessary, and make sure the axle is not cocked. Tighten both axle nuts, verify that the axle is not cocked, if it is, straighten the axle before continuing. e. Tighten the brake with your 6-mm wrench and Philips screwdriver. f. Tighten the jacking bolts, both sides 3. Use your 6-mm wrench and Philips screwdriver to tighten all the fender screws Your bike is ready to ride, have a good cruise.
