ASA104 Instructions Page 1 Main Maststep Fore Maststep Aft (Stern) Fore (Bow) Main Mast Shrouds Mizzen Mast Shrouds Bowsprit Shrouds End of Bowsprit To begin: Place the ship in the stand. Carefully unroll and separate the sails. Port Bow Shroud Lines Starboard Bow Line Bowsprit Set the bowsprit: Slide the bowsprit through the opening at the front end of the ship until it stops at the anchor. Hold the bowsprit in place by connecting the bowline from under the bow to the eye on the under side of the tip of the bowsprit. Hook the bowsprit shroud lines to the eyes on the port and starboard sides of the hull.

Attach Jib Sail running lines to Main Mast shroud eyes Fore Mast: Place the fore mast (shorter of the two) in the maststep in the fore deck. the shorter shrouds to the to the front fore mast shroud eyes on the deck. The longer shrouds pass through the guide eyelets at the end of the spreader then down to the aft eyes in the fore mast shroud eye set. 2. Hook Jib Sail and Forestay line to end of bowsprit Jib Sail: 1. Hook Jib Sail block to second eye on fore mast 2. Hook Jib Sail and forestay line to end of bowsprit 3. forestay to top eye on fore mast 4. Jib Sail running lines to main sail shroud eyes.

ASA104 Instructions Page 3 Stay between Masts Attach and Hoist the Main Sail: Boom Main Mast Shrouds 1. the hook on the end of the boom to the eye on the hardware encircling the bottom of the mast. Set the Main Mast: Place the tallest mast in the maststep in the middle of the ship. the stay between the mast poles. Attach the main mast shroud lines in the same manner as the fore mast shrouds. 2. Place the "Y" shaped end of the main sail spar around the lower end of the spreader and close the hook on the wire gate (with the wood beads). the shroud lines to the appropriate eyehooks on the deck.

ASA106 Instructions Page 4 Block 3. the block for hoisting the sail to the eye on the brass band above the spreader of the main mast. Line Attach the hook on the end of the line to the eyehook on the port side of the maststep.

ASA104 Instructions Page 5 Block #1 Hooks Traveler 4. hooks from the two blocks to the first and second eyes on the aft side of the mast. 5. At the stern, connect #1 block to the underside of the boom. The #2 block connects to the stern. The end of the line extends over the top of the wooden taveler. Line from the Boom Line line at the aft shroud eye on the starboard side. Tighten the line as you hoist the sail. the end of the line to the eyehook on the maststep (starboard side).

ASA104 Instructions Page 6 Fore sail: Repeat steps 1-4 the same as the Main Mast. 1 2 Twist open the mast rings. Place around the mast pole. The stern end of the fore sail boom is connected by a block and tackle. Hook #1 connects to the eye on the starboard side of the main mast s maststep. Hook #2 (on the pulley) connects to the brass traveler bar. Bollard Twist mast ring closed again. Secure the line over the bollard on the aft end of the cabin.
