1 NEWTON JAGUARS NETBALL CLUB INC PO Box 76, Campbelltown, SA, 5074 Ph: 0414 448 103 www.newtonjaguars.com.au ABN 96 945 337 805 Hot Weather Policy Newton Jaguars Netball Club has a responsibility towards its Coaches, Umpires, Players and Volunteers in relation to physical activity and exposure to heat and sun. This policy has been adapted within the guidelines as published by Netball SA and in consultation with qualified fitness professionals. Trainings 1.1 If the temperature at 4.00 p.m. on the day of any training is 34 to 35 all recommended training modifications should be implemented. 1.2 If the temperature at 4.00 p.m. on the day of any training is 36 or over all trainings will be cancelled. It will be at the discretion of the Coaches to determine if the training will be rescheduled. 1.3 The temperature will be taken from the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM), the direct link to that information is http://www.bom.gov.au/sa/forecasts/adelaide.shtml 1.4 Should the Hot Weather Policy for trainings be enacted, the information will be published on Newton Jaguars Website and the Newton Jaguars Facebook Page. If in doubt please contact your coach for further instructions. 1.5 Coaches and Team Managers are required to strongly promote and encourage fluid replacement before, during and after trainings sessions. Modifications for Training Reduce the length of training sessions. Coaches to provide players with extra drink breaks throughout the training sessions. Reduce physical demands placed on participants during training. Coaches and Managers to use existing shaded areas (such as the lawned area if Available) for periods of inactivity. Trainings can be held in temperatures above 36 if the training is moved indoors where adequate air-conditioning, fans or pool facilities are present. Training can be rescheduled to be held during the morning to avoid the heat. However adequate hydration breaks must be provided during the session and players must be reminded to maintain hydration throughout the day. Premier League and Premier League Reserves may modify the application of this policy only where training is under the direction of fitness professional.
2 Amendment to Hot Weather Policy Effective 22 nd February 2016 This amendment relates ONLY to any fitness training held by Pushing Performance or any other authorised Professional Fitness Instructor approved by Newton Jaguars Netball Club. 1.6 If the temperature at 4.00 p.m. on the day of any Fitness Training is 36 or over trainings will continue as scheduled, so long as: The facility where the training is scheduled is suitably air-conditioned/ventilated or If the facility is not air conditioned/ventilated a suitable replacement is used and The planned session will be replaced with a Player Workshop where athletes will be provided information and education about Fitness and Nutrition.
3 Games City Nights Netball SA Stadium 2.1 CITY NIGHT DIVISION HOT WEATHER POLICY FRIDAY NIGHT COMPETITION When the temperature is 36 degrees or higher as announced on Radio Station 5AA at 1.00pm all matches will be CANCELLED. When the temperature is between 34 degrees and 36 degrees as announced on 5AA at 1.00pm matches will start as follows: Matches due to start at 7.00pm will start at 7.30pm and matches due to start at 8.00pm will start at 8.30pm. Quarters will be reduced for the Juniors to 12 minute quarters. More drink breaks will be allowed but the clock is not to be stopped. TUESDAY NIGHT COMPETITION When the temperature is 36 degrees or higher as announced on 5AA at 1.00pm all matches will be CANCELLED. When the temperature is between 34 degrees and 36 degrees as announced on 5AA at 1.00pm quarters will be reduced to 12 minutes each. 4 Games SA District Netball Netball SA Stadium 3.1 SA District Netball Association HOT WEATHER POLICY Monday / Tuesday and Friday Night Competitions When the temperature at 5pm is 36 or over, all matches are to be abandoned. The temperature is taken by the first temperature as announced at 5pm on Mix 102.3 When the temperature at 5pm is 34 or over, all notified forfeit fines are to be waived. In finals matches cannot be abandoned, but should the temperature at 5pm be 36 or over, all matches will be moved back by 30 minutes.
