This provides assurance that all reasonable measures are taken to ensure your group will benefit from a high level of safety when travelling with us. School Travel Forum As the specialist ski division of the larger Halsbury Travel, Halsbury Ski is an Assured Member of the School Travel Forum (STF), a group of leading school tour operators dedicated to promoting good health and safety practice in school travel. We adhere to a rigorous Code of Practice and Safety Management Standards which are externally verified each year by a health and safety consultancy specialising in travel. Ski Safety Ski instruction All our ski instructors are qualified to local and national regulations and are approved by the director of the local ski school. Our ski schools have all been approved by their national governing body. There s normally a maximum of 12 pupils to every instructor. Equipment hire We ve worked hard to establish strong relationships with local suppliers, who provide the ski equipment. The adjustment of bindings will be carried out by a member of staff who has completed and passed an approved manufacturer s ski binding course. Your Ski Specialist will send you a tailor-made quote, designed to meet your specific requirements. And they can even come into school to talk you through the options face-to-face if you prefer. And when you are happy with it, you ll be able to make a no obligation provisional booking. This means we ll hold the place for your group for 30 days while you promote it to students and collect their initial deposits. every step of the way We were created by former teacher Keith Sharkey, who had led school ski trips himself and wanted to make the process easier for other busy teachers. Part of that is making sure that we re with you every step of the way, from your first enquiry, to the moment you return home! 03 After you ve booked Once you ve booked your trip, you ll be put in touch with one of our dedicated Trip Coordinators. Your Trip Coordinator will take on all the administrative tasks related to your school ski trip, and will work closely with you to finalise your transport, accommodation and itinerary. You ll also be invited to attend one of our inspection visits. To find out more, please turn to page 8. 04 Support while you re away GROUP LEADER PACK Before you set off on your ski trip, we ll send you your group leader s pack, which will include all the important information for your tour. This will include a list of 24-hour emergency contact numbers, should you need any assistance while on your trip. We ll also provide you with a log in to the Vamoos app, giving you easy access to your travel documents on the move. Of course, your experienced Halsbury representative will also be able to assist you, as they will be based in-resort. They ll hold a welcome meeting for your group on arrival and will be able to provide you with any local resort information you require. And your ski lessons will be led by highly qualified ski instructors who know the resort well, allowing them to select the most suitable slopes and activities to maximise progress. Keith passionately believed in the value of school trips and wanted to give his students the opportunity to learn about the world through travel. But he was frustrated with the lack of support offered by school tour operators. Designed by teachers So, in 1986, he founded Halsbury Travel, to provide other teachers with the dedicated support needed to run successful school trips. And Halsbury Ski is the company s specialist ski tours division. Family-run & independent Halsbury remains one of the few truly independent school tour operators still in existence. We re a family-run business, with two generations of the Sharkey family now working here. Your regional Ski Specialist will be very pleased to provide you with a tailor-made quote, designed to meet your group s specific requirements. I d like to make some changes to my quote. That s no problem at all! Please just contact your Ski Specialist with any changes you want to make and they ll be happy to provide you with a quote that better suits your requirements. I m happy with my quote and want to go ahead with booking my trip. Great, then it s time to make a provisional booking! This means that we can hold your place for 30 days while you promote your trip in school and collect initial deposits. We ve created some promotional materials to help you with this step, please visit the resources section of our website to download these. I haven t got the number of students I thought I would can I still run a trip? Please contact us straight away if you have fewer students signing up for the trip than you anticipated. We ll be pleased to talk you through the options, which may include joining forces with another smaller group to share a coach. I ve got enough students signed up and am ready to start planning. Then it s time to fill in your booking form and send in your initial deposits.
