! General Information Bobbi s Pole Studio is hosting the thirteenth annual Miss Pole Dance Australia competition, the most prestigious pole dancing competition in the world. The National finals will be held on 4 th November 2017 at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney. Preliminary heats will be held in six states with the winners to be flown by the State Competition Organiser to Sydney to compete in the national finals. Organiser refers to the owner of Miss Pole Dance Australia competition and the national finals organiser Vanessa Brecht from Bobbi s Pole Studio, Sydney; b. State Competition Organiser refers to the table on page 1 of this document titled State Competition Organisers; c. Performer is the name recorded on the Application Form on page 2; d. Competition refers to Miss Pole Dance Australia National Finals to be held in Sydney 4th November 2017; e. Heats refers to the Miss Pole Dance Australia preliminary heats to be coordinated by the State Competition Organiser; f. Document refers to this entire 6! page document. 2) Initial Selection Criteria a. The Performer must be female; b. The Performer must be at least 18 years of age; c. The Performer must be an Australian citizen or Australian resident. 3) The Performer may only submit application. 4) Participation in the Heats and the Competition requires receipt of the completed and signed Document and close adherence to all the conditions outlined. a. The Performer declares that she has no contracts of obligations by other organisations or persons related to pole dancing; b. The registration form must be completed in full accordance with these rules, dated and signed. Each page must be initialled; c. A recent photo of the Performer must accompany the application. All photos are to be in electronic format, the Performer must include at Page! 3 of! 6
lease one portrait and at least one of the Performer in a pole move, in high resolution. Maximum 4 photos in total. d. The photos provided must have no copyright attached to them and the Organiser reserves the right to publish said photos for the purposes of promoting the Heats and the Competition. 5) Stipulations on Film & Photography a. All photography and other footage remain the property of the Organiser. The Performer has no rights to compensation for photography and other footage made before, during and after the Heats or the Competition; b. The Performer explicitly and irrevocably agrees that all footage and photography can be used by the Organiser for promotional, advertising and commercial purposes; c. No photographs or footage is to be taken (by any person or group) during the Competition can be used by the Performer without express written permission from the Organiser. 6) The Solo Division a. The Performer is skilled in pole dancing; b. The Performer may choose the music for her show; c. A pole dance show is no longer than 4 minutes; d. The title of Miss Pole Dance Australia 2018 is valid for one year from the date of the Competition in November 2017; e. The Performers may join the audience before and after their show but not converse with the judges during any part of the evening; f. The Performer may not perform nude or partially nude. G-strings are permissible for Heats after gaining written approval by the State Competition Organiser. No G-strings are permitted in the Competition (National finals). It is permitted to remove articles of clothing / costume; g. The Performer may enter both divisions (singles and doubles state heats only ex. NSW) h. Any failure to abide by the above mentioned rules will result in immediate disqualification i. The poles used in the Competition will be brass 38mm poles (Pussycat Poles). There will be two poles, one stationary (stage right) and one spinning (stage left). j. The Solo Division will be judged on: pole work (15 points), dance (10 points) and presentation (5 points) In the event of a tie judges will consult and make a final decision. Pole Moves (out of 15) Under this category they will now be scoring out of 5 for technique/execution, out of 5 for difficulty of tricks and out of 5 for originality Dancing (out of 10) Under this category judges will be looking at floor work, transitions, musicality, stage presence throughout the entire show and use of stage Costume/Presentation (out of 5) Page! 4 of! 6
Under this category judges will be looking at costume, costume matching theme, overall presentation, theme, use of props and use and removal of costume k. Any failure to abide by the above-mentioned rules will result in immediate disqualification. l. The Organiser reserves the right to invite wild card entries to compete in either division of the Competition. Wild Card and Double entrants are required to pay for their transport and accommodation needs; 7) Presentation / Costume a. Footwear: i. Solo competitors must wear heels, or boots. Bare feet are not permitted. ii. Double competitors may perform bare foot or with heels or boots. b. You may use props. They must be signed off by your State Competition Organiser in advance (usually anything that can be transported easily on a plane); c. No back up dancers or other people are permitted on stage during the competitor s performance in state heats. Human props will be permitted for Miss Pole Dance Australia. d. Use of grip aids (PVC clothing & accessories, gloves etc) are permitted. 8) Heats and the Competition a. Heats will be held in five states around Australia: NSW, VIC, ACT, WA, QLD. b. TAS welcome to compete in ACT heats and NT is welcome to compete in WA heats c. The winner of each Heat will be entered into the Competition. The original application must be forwarded from the State Competition Organiser to the Organiser; d. The state organisers will video the night and provide copies of all Solo and Doubles performers to the Competition organisers to be judged for Wildcard Entries e. During the Heats, the performer must abide by the rules and arrive in advance as stated by the State Competition Organiser; f. An expert judging panel will score the competitors performances, their decision is final; g. Performers may not communicate with members of the judging panel before, during or after the Heats or the Competition; h. The Organiser reserves the right to expel a performer from participation, both before and during the Heats or the Competition; i. The Competition performers must be available for a photo shoots and interviews prior to the Competition if requested; j. The Organiser expects the prize-winners to co-operate with the promotion of the Competition and activities. This may include pre, during and post Competition media interviews and photographs; Page! 5 of! 6
k. Dressing rooms are for competitors and staff only they are off limits to family members or friends of the Performers. l. Performers are not permitted to drink alcohol or take drugs before or during the night of the Heats or the Competition. m. The Organiser reserves the right to invite wild card entries to compete in either division of the Competition. Wild Card and Double entrants are required to pay for their transport and accommodation needs; n. Video entries (in lieu of competing in a State Heat) will be accepted in extreme circumstances only, in consultation with The Organiser. 9) Miss Pole Dance Australia 2018 Title a. The title Miss Pole Dance Australia is an official title valid for one year commencing the date of the Competition; b. As Miss Pole Dance Australia the winner is an ambassador of pole dancing in Australia; c. As Miss Pole Dance Australia the Performer is required to take on several promotional activities. This occurs in consultation with the Organisers and may be financially remunerated; d. The Organiser reserves the right to retract the title if the Performer causes any damages to the Competition; e. In the case of retraction, the runner up becomes the new Miss Pole Dance Australia. 10) The Organiser a. The Organiser is not liable for injury or damage resulting from participation in the Heats and/or the Competition, which includes any transportation to and from the Heats and/or the Competition; b. The Organiser reserve the right to change the rules contained herein; c. All decisions not addressed in this document will be made by the Organiser; d. Any decision by the Organiser is binding.
