INTRODUCTION Dear Hockey Fan & Supporter, Competitive youth hockey is critical to the growth of the Vegas Golden Knights fan base. The Las Vegas Community has an incredible opportunity to impact the sport of hockey through the Vegas Golden Knights Foundation which has as a mission to increase the number of players as well as the competitiveness of youth hockey in Southern Nevada. To facilitate the development of a competitive program, the Jr. Golden Knights need to attract and retain more athletes to hockey and our travel teams need to play in top tier travel tournaments across North America. These tournaments enable the Jr. Golden Knights to represent the Vegas Golden Knights while playing the best teams in the United States and Canada. To play at this level, we need the support of our local community through donations and sponsorships. The Vegas Golden Knights Foundation was established to support this endeavor to grow youth hockey in Nevada by: Growing hockey through financial scholarships to players in need Strengthening the Jr. Golden Knights brand through participation in top tier national and international tournaments Developing programs that increase interest in hockey from all local athletes VEGAS JR GOLDEN KNIGHTS MISSION The Jr. Vegas Golden Knights are dedicated to the development of youth hockey in the city of Las Vegas and state of Nevada. Towards this end, we are committed to providing our hockey players and families with a fun and safe environment where young athletes can develop on and off the ice while learning the value of teamwork, competition, sportsmanship, discipline, respect, self-esteem, hard work and integrity in a safe and fun environment. We are dedicated to the growth and development of the game in our city and aim to foster a community spirit among our players, families, coaches and officials.
FINANCIAL SCHOLARSHIPS Involvement in hockey helps to develop skills that benefit players for the rest of their lives both on and off the ice. Along with building self-esteem and physical endurance, players develop an understanding of the importance of teamwork, accountability, and resilience. Hockey is a resource intensive sport when including equipment, ice time, and travel expenses. Often, this is a barrier to many potential athletes beginning to play the sport. The Vegas Junior Golden Knights are determined to remove the financial hurdles that prevent players from enjoying the benefits of playing youth hockey. The Vegas Jr. Golden Knights want to make hockey affordable and attainable to any player who has a passion to learn and play the sport. Over our first two years as an organization, we have provided over 20 full and partial scholarships to families who have demonstrated need. These families have received funds from the Foundation to cover their player s fees and ice time. NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL EXPOSURE As we grow hockey in Southern Nevada, the Vegas Junior Golden Knights will have the opportunity to participate in tournaments across North America that offer a high level of competition and exposure. These tournaments are important to our players who aspire to play at a higher level of hockey. National tournaments also offer broad exposure to the Vegas Golden Knights brand as the organization competes against other NHL sponsored youth hockey teams. In the 2017-18 season, the Vegas Junior Golden Knights competed in U14 Bantam, U16 Midget, and High School National Championships in cities across the United states. In addition, the U10 Squirts competed in the International Squirt Tournament in Fargo, North Dakota and reached the semi-finals. Sponsorships and financial support enables our teams to compete on similar stages this year. HOSTING TOURNAMENTS & EVENTS Las Vegas is quickly growing into a hockey town. Foundational to any hockey town is becoming a host for tournaments for top tier teams. While we know that Las Vegas is an attractive tourist destination, the addition of City National Arena now enables Las Vegas to offer five rinks on which to play tournaments. Sponsoring tournaments will allow the Vegas Junior Golden Knights to build their brand within the hockey community while creating a signature experience that will attract players and their families as an annual hockey tradition. Sponsors have the opportunity to have broad exposure in pre-tournament marketing and in-tournament branding.
