Oviedo Pop Warner @ovido_popwarner

We are a youth football and cheer organization based out of Oviedo, Florida. Pop Warner Little Scholars, Inc. (PWLS) is a non-profit organization that provides youth football and cheer & dance programs for participants in 42 states and several countries around the world. Consisting of approximately 325,000 young people ranging from ages 5 to 16 years old, Pop Warner is the largest youth football, cheer and dance program in the world. Pop Warner was founded in 1929, and continues to grow and serves as the only youth football, cheerleading & dance organization that requires its participants to maintain academic standards to participate. Pop Warner's commitment to academics is what separates the program from other youth sports around the world. As the only national youth sports organization that requires scholastic aptitude to participate, Pop Warner is committed to developing America's young people on the field and off. Since 1929, the Pop Warner Programs Philosophy has been that athletics and scholastics go hand in hand. At every level, Pop Warner programs seek to develop well-rounded young men and women who learn not only the fundamentals of football, cheerleading, and dance but also the importance of education in an atmosphere conducive to developing sound character while having an enjoyable time. Oviedo Pop Warner programs goals are to enable young people to benefit from participating in team sports and activities in a safe and structured environment. Through this active participation, Pop Warner programs teach fundamental values, skills, and knowledge that young people will use throughout their lives. All coaches and staff have appropriately been background checked through Pop Warner required processes. All coaches hold current Pop Warner Football and Cheer Certification, trained by MIDFL Pop Warner and USA Football / YCADA. Each football and cheer team have trained staff certified in First Aid and CPR.

All Mid-Florida Pop Warner associations adhere to the age and weight restrictions as set forth by the national office. Please review the matrix below to determine which weight division your child would participate in. For some teams Pop Warner has established the Older/Lighter designation for football players who are well below the maximum weight limit, and players who qualify may participate on a team one level below their normal classification. Players who are above the weight limit may be able to play one level above their classification but each case should be discussed between the parents, coaches, player and association commissioner. A player s age is determined on how old he/she is on July 31st. All players are to be weighed on the first day of practice (August 1 st ) and in accordance with national Pop Warner regulations no player can be six (6) or more pounds above the maximum weight or three (3) or more pounds below the minimum weight. A player s weight is certified during the Kick-off Classic (week 0) and any player failing to make weight that weekend will get one more opportunity during weigh-in for week 1. Once the regular season begins a player may gain 1 pound every other week starting with the second regular season game (one pound allowed in weeks 2, 4, 6 and 8), for a maximum of 4 pounds. Volunteering for Oviedo Pop Warner is a great way to get involved with the organization and have a chance to meet other parents, coaches and of course the kids. It is all a great way to get volunteer hours needed for Bright futures, HS, ROTC, Church, HS Sports etc. Feel free to take one time slot or take as many as you like it's up to you. We NEED you in order for us to continue to have a successful organization for the kids. http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c094baaad23abfa7-volunteers SCHOLARSHIPS Oviedo Pop Warner is proud to serve the Oviedo community, offering a Football and Cheerleading program. Part of this service includes a scholarship program for deserving families in the community we serve, so that every child can participate regardless of his or her family income. The number of scholarships we provide will be limited only by our financial ability to provide them. Our goal is to help every deserving family that we can. It is possible that we may get more applications that we can support, so they will be accepted and reviewed on a first-come, first served basis. Our scholarship packet is located on our website: http://www.oviedopopwarner.com
