Borough of Morris Plains 2018 Summer Recreation Program The Morris Plains Recreation Commission is pleased to announce the 2018 Summer Recreation Program. The programs this year offer a wide range of activities for the children in Morris Plains. Registration forms will be available at the Morris Plains Community Center and on the Borough Web site: www.morrisplainsboro.org. Registration will begin at the Community Center on April 18, 2018. PLEASE NOTE: There is a $10 fee for each program canceled; does not apply to Programs canceled by MP Recreation Summer Camp Morris Plains Residents Entering Kindergarten - 5 th Grade Registration is not limited. Summer Camp registration deadline is May 9, 2018. Date: Wednesday, June 27 - Tuesday, July 31 Time: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM Fee: $200.00 (registration after May 9th is $250.00) The Summer Camp Program offers a variety of activities including sports, crafts and games. The complete camp activity calendar will be posted on the Borough Website: www.morrisplainsboro.org Summer Camp Morris Plains Residents Entering 6 th 9 th Grade Registration is not limited. Summer Camp registration deadline is May 9, 2018. Date: Wednesday, June 27 - Tuesday, July 31 Time: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM Location: Morris Plains Teen Center House, Route 53 Fee: $200.00 (registration after May 9th is $250.00) The 6 th - 9 th Grade Summer Camp Program will be meeting at the Morris Plains Teen Center House on Rt. 53 next to the VFW Field. The program will feature age appropriate activities and trips (for an additional fee) for Middle School residents. Theatre Workshop / Performance Registration is limited to 25 participant Date: June 25 - July 27 (Monday - Thursday; 4 day, 5 week program) Time: 12:30 PM - 3:30 PM Location: Morris Plains Borough School Director: Joe Wohlgemuth Participants: Students entering 4 th - 12 th Grade Fee: $240.00 The five week workshop will culminate with participants presenting the 13 th Annual Morris Plains Musical Theatrical Performance on July 26 th & July 27 th, 2018. The program is co-sponsored by the Morris Plains Recreation Commission and the Morris Plains Municipal Alliance. ART: The Brilliant Mind of Dr. Seuss! Registration: Max: 18 Date: June 25 - June 29 Grades: K - 6 Instructor: Ms. Gibbs-Dempski Fee: $55.00 Dr. Seuss is one of the most celebrated authors and illustrators of all time. His creativity knew no bounds and neither will yours in this wonderful, whimsical and creative course. Using the artwork of Dr. Seuss as inspiration, students will be stretching their imaginations to the limits creating original works of art!

ART: Art Around the World* Registration: Max: 18 Date: June 25 - June 29 Time: 1:30 PM - 2:30 PM Participants: Grades: K - 6 Instructor: Ms. Gibbs-Dempski Fee: $55.00 Grab your passport because we are going on a journey around the world! From pyramids to pottery we will be creating artwork from different countries, cultures and time periods. The possibilities are endless and students will have a great time exploring the world through art! *Featuring all new projects! ART: Plaster Animal Sculptures Registration: Max: 16 Date: July 16 - July 20 Participants: Grades: 2-6 Instructor: Ms. Gibbs-Dempski Fee: $55.00 We are taking artwork to the next dimension...three dimensions! In this class, students will be creating colorful sculptures using plaster. They will create an animal sculpture or bust for the wall and decorate it in bright colors and patterns. This will make for a very interesting and colorful zoo! ART: Rigby' Palette Registration: Max: 20 Date: June 25 - June 29 Time: 12:30 PM - 2 PM Participants: Grades: 4-9 Location: Morris Plains Borough School Art Room Instructor: Ms. Rigby Fee: $75.00 A guided painting class with Ms. Rigby. Students will create five different canvas paintings with a different theme each day; beach, animal, still life and more... Ms. Rigby worked at Pinot's Palette in 2016 and has her Masters Degree in painting. She will bring her expertise to this summer class. ART: Summer Set Design Registration: Max: 25 Date: July 9 - July 13 Time: 12:30 PM - 2 PM Participants: Grades: 5-9 Location: Morris Plains Borough School Auditorium (Backstage) Instructor: Ms. Rigby Fee: $65.00 Ready! Set! Paint! Children in this Art Enhancement Class will create scenery and props for the Summer Theatre Production

ART: Summer Fun with Clay Registration: Max: 20 Date: July 16 - July 20 Time: 12:30 PM - 2 PM Participants: Grades: 2-9 Location: Morris Plains Borough School Art Room Instructor: Ms. Rigby Fee: $75.00 Students will create pottery and sculptures using air dry clay. ART: Sustainable Crafts* Registration: Min: 5 Max: 12 Date: July 16 - July 19 (4 day program) Participants: Grades: K - 5 Instructor: Ms. Dise-Moran Fee: $45.00 Participants will create a sustainable craft to take home each day. We will explore ways to reuse and recycle materials to make crafts. *This program is assisted by "Kids Helping Kids" Mentors Lego Builders* Registration: Min: 7 Max: 12 Date: July 2, 3, 5, 6, (4 day program) Participants: Grades: K - 5 Instructor: Ms. Dise-Moran Fee: $30.00 Whether you are a master builder or just like Emmet from the Lego Movie, you will love this club! Bring your legos and build along-side a mentor or a buddy and see what great creations you can build! *This program is assisted by "Kids Helping Kids" Mentors "The Magic of Reading" Registration: Min: 5 Max: 12 Dates: Session # 1: June 25 - June 29 Session # 2: July 9 - July 13 Participants: Grades: K - 4 Instructor: Ms. Dise-Moran Fee: $60.00 per session This very popular reading program continues through the summer to help our children develop new skills, build on skills already learned or strengthen ones they already have. We will dance and create simple kid-friendly sweet snacks. The kids will even bring home recipes at the end of our sessions. Play With Your Food Registration: Max: 14 Dates: July 2, 3, 5, 6 (4 day program) Participants: Grades: 1-6 Instructor: Ms. Gibbs-Dempski Have you ever wondered what happens when you mix mentos and diet coke? How to make rock candy or what "worms" taste like? Well, it's time to find out in this fun and experimental science course! We will take common household foods and mix, mash, stir, pour and maybe even eat a few of our experiments! This is a fun and messy course for all ages! Science Wizards Registration: Max: 16 Dates: July 9 - July 13 Participants: Grades: K - 6 Instructor: Ms. Gibbs-Dempski Fee: $60.00 If you like experimenting, getting messy and playing with the ooey and gooey, this course is for you! We will be exploring science and mixing all kinds of materials together to get some really cool reactions. If you have ever wondered what elephant toothpaste is, how to make your own bouncy ball or flubber, this course is for you!

You're Eating My Experiment! Registration: Max: 15 Date: July 2, 3, 5, 6 (4 day program) Time: 12:30 PM - 1:15 PM Participants: Grades: 2-4 Instructor: Ms. Demetrician Fee: $80.00 Want to make yummy slime? How about ice cream in a bag? This hands on course will use science experiments to create, discover and explore delicious creations. Please! No food allergies. We will eat and enjoy our creations. Red Cross Babysitting Registration: Min: 6 Max: 30 Dates: June 26 & June 27 Time: 12:30 PM - 3:30 PM Participants: Ages: 11 & Up Instructor: American Red Cross Fee: $90.00 This training will help participants to develop leadership skills, learn how to develop a babysitting business, keep themselves and others safe and help children behave and learn about basic child care and basic first aid. Cheerleading Registration: Min: 9 Max: 15 Dates: July 16 to July 20 Participants: Grades: K - 4 Instructors: Morristown High School Cheerleaders Fee: $30.00 Students will learn basic cheerleading motions and moves progressing to cheers, chants and routines.

Speed and agility involving ladders, hurdles, basic and intermediate soccer drills to improve skills and speed. Short sided games will be played at the end of each session. USSI Golf Registration: Min: 8 Max: 16 Date: July 9 - July 13 Time: 12:30 PM - 2:00 PM Participants: Ages: 5-11 Fee: $105.00 Instructor: USSI Great for beginners! Participants will receive technical instruction in all golf fundamentals. Morris Plains Recreation Program Guidelines and Policies 1. The morning Summer Camp Program is open to all Morris Plains Residents. Early registration is encouraged to allow for adequate planning and staffing. Registration after May 9th is $250.00. 2. All other programs are on a first come, first serve basis. Classes will be closed when the maximum registration has been received. Additional participants may place their name on a waiting list and will be notified if space becomes available. 3. Cancellation of registration for Summer Camp will be accepted up to 14 days prior to the start of Summer Camp.. A refund, less the $10.00 cancelation fee, will be issued according to the refund policy. No refunds will be issued after the deadline. 4. A $10.00 fee will be applied to each canceled Enhancement Program; does not apply to Programs canceled by Morris Plains Recreation. 5. If class minimums are not met 7 days prior to the start of a program, participants will be notified of the program cancellation and a full refund will be issued according to the refund procedure. 6. Program refund policy: A refund voucher must be signed in person. Refund vouchers are available at the Morris Plains Community Center during open business hours. A refund check will be issued via U.S. Mail within 30 days of program cancellation. 7. "Kids Helping Kids" mentors will be assigned to classes as indicated. If you would like to request mentor assistance for any of the scheduled Recreation Programs, please indicate on registration form and we will make every effort to provide a mentor.
