Saturation Index The saturation index helps you to calculate pool water balance by showing the relationship between the following parameters: ph Total Alkalinity Calcium Hardness Temperature TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) o C o F T.F CH CH.F TA Ta.F TDS TDS.F mg/l mg/l mg/l 0 32 0.0 50 1.3 5 0.7 0 12.0 3 37 0.1 75 1.5 25 1.4-8 46 0.2 100 1.6 50 1.7 1000 12.1 12 53 0.3 150 1.8 75 1.9-16 60 0.4 200 1.9 100 2.0 2000 12.2 19 66 0.5 250 2.0 125 2.1-24 76 0.6 300 2.1 150 2.2 3000 12.25 29 84 0.7 400 2.2 200 2.3-34 94 0.8 600 2.35 300 2.5 4000 12.3 41 105 0.9 800 2.5 400 2.6 T.F = Temperature factor, CH = Calcium Hardness, CH.F = Calcium Hardness Factor, TA = Total Alkalinity, TA.F = Total Alkalinity Factor, TDS.F = TDS Factor CALCULATION Saturation index = ph value + T.F + CH.F + Ta.F TDS.F (E.g. ph 7.4 + T.F. 0.7 = CH.F 2.0 + Ta.F 2.0 TDS.F 12.1 = 0.0) RESULT: If the index is 0.0 the water is in perfect balance. If the figure is minus, the water is aggressive and tends to be corrosive. A figure between 0.0 and +0.5 is acceptable (slightly scale forming) NOTE: A high total alkalinity is no compensation for a low calcium hardness figure. Keep all water balance parameters within the recommended ranges. - 6 -

Blue Horizons ph Plus Powder for increasing ph Part of the System Ideal ph range: 7.2 7.6 The ideal pool ph levels are between 7.2 7.6, promoting bather comfort, optimal chemical efficiency and protection of pool plant equipment. Harmful swimmer wastes such as perspiration, cosmetics and urine can accumulate in pool water resulting in dull and cloudy water. These swimmer wastes can also combine with free chlorine and produce chloramines (spent chlorine) which can produce strong chorinous odours and uncomfortable bathing conditions. Oxidisers destroy swimmer wastes, restoring water sparkle and comfort Chloramines form when swimmer wastes and free available chlorine combine Use Blue Horizons Pool Fusion, Granular Shock, Rapid Shock or Shock n Floc to break apart the combined chlorines - 12 -

Blue Horizons Scale & Stain Top Tablet 250g Stabilised chlorine tablet Quick release red top for scale & stain control Slower eroding bottom (6-10 days depending on water flow) Contains clarifier & algaecide Part of the System Ideal free chlorine range: 1-3mg/l (ppm) Prior to using this product, adjust the ph levels to the ideal range of 7.2 7.6. As this product releases chlorine relatively slowly it may be necessary to shock dose or oxidise prior to their use to first establish some chlorine more rapidly. These tablets are designed to provide both scale & stain control (red) followed by longer term disinfection (white) over a period of 6 10 days depending on water flowing over them. WARNING DO NOT ADD DIRECTLY TO A POOL AND ALWAYS USE A CLEAN APPLICATOR AS BELOW WITH NO OTHER PRODUCTS PRESENT. Skimmer: Place 1 tablet in a clean & empty skimmer basked per 22,725 litres (5,000 gallons) of pool water every 6-10 days. To take account of the water flow, it may be necessary to adjust the number of tablets to achieve desired 1 3mg/l free chlorine. Floating Dispenser: Place tablet(s) in a floating dispenser and adjust the aperture mechanism at the bottom of the dispenser to obtain the ideal chlorine range of 1 3mg/l (ppm). The dispenser should be removed from the pool while swimmers are bathing. Chlorine Feeders: Not suitable for this application. Note: It is recommended that you periodically (e.g. weekly/fortnightly) shock or oxidise your water, using Blue Horizons Pool Fusion, Granular Shock, Rapid Shock or Shock n Floc. - 30 -

Blue Horizons Multifunctional Floating Dispenser 720g and 1.5kg sizes Suitable for many different pool sizes. Slow release sanitiser, clarifier & algaecide Stabilised to prevent chlorine loss to sunlight Part of the System. Ideal free chlorine range: 1-3mg/l (ppm) Prior to using this product adjust the ph level to the ideal range 7.2 7.6. This floater releases chlorine slowly over a period of 3 to 5 weeks depending on water flow. 1. Cut the two perforated sections of this label marked with scissors-cut. Choose your setting from a choice of maximum, medium, minimum or small and x small (720g size only) depending on the size of the pool and the chlorine level required. This will expose the holes in the cut out area. If chlorine levels are outside the recommended range of 1-3mg/l, either too high or too low, then adjust the base to expose more or fewer tablets to water flow. 2. Place the floater in an upright position in the pool and hold for a few seconds until the cartridge fills with water before releasing to float on the pool surface. Do not submerge the dispenser completely and block the vent holes. 3. The dispenser will tip over on its side when the contents have dissolved. A tilting dispenser is an indication that the dispenser will need replacing soon and chlorine level output is reducing. Note: It is recommended that you periodically (e.g. weekly/fortnightly) shock or oxidise your water, using Blue Horizons Pool Fusion, Granular Shock, Rapid Shock or Shock n Floc. - 36 -
